I was once asked by a young man how do you know you are marrying the right women? As a woman I said image you are in an accident and you lose the ability to care for yourself relying on that woman to care for you if you were incapacitated. If you cannot imagine that woman caring for you then she is not the one.
I injured my back and was in incredible pain. Eventually I had to have surgery. My ex-wife was too busy to take me to doctor appointments. A friend had to come get me. While I was in surgery, my wife was at work. Her excuse was that, not being a doctor, there wasn't anything she could do to help me. I wonder what her reaction would have been if I had gone to work while she was in labor. After all, I'm not a doctor.

This is why I always say to people wisdom is greater than intelligence. You can have a PhD in nuclear physics and get straight A's in school, but still make absolutely horrendous relationship decisions. Highly intelligent people tend to lack street smarts and wisdom.

Personally, I think a lot of covert narcs are misdiagnosed with BPD, making it an even more risky proposition. I have a solid understanding of psychology, especially in the realm of cluster B personality disorders, and even I ended up with a histrionic Narc who I thought had BPD. That said, it only took me about 3 months to figure this out… and yeah, even by then the PTSD symptoms were present. My life was falling apart rapidly… ride of my life though, I’ll give her that
One of mine from experience, when talking about why her and her ex broke up… “he was controlling”. Means: “I was being shady and he called me out on it”.

Steven, Keep your wealth 'inconspicuous'. Drive a Honda or a Ford pickup instead of a BMW. Live below your means. Have a nice 2 bdrm apt or condo instead of a house. Condos are a good bet when single, because you can be gone for extended periods without worry of break-in. If you own a house, move out and use it as a rental property while living in that condo or apt. Don't patronize expensive restaurants. There are lots of great places to eat for less than $20 a person. Become familiar with them all. Unlike most men here, I do think there are trustworthy women out there, but you've got to vet them well, and keep your wealth below the radar as much as possible.

As a woman with three sons, I'm extremely concerned about the options available to them. So many women are taking men to the cleaners out of bitterness. I was married before, and didn't take any material thing of his with me, not even the house. Requested that we both have joint custody of our children, and didn't want any child support because he takes care of his children. My ex-husband was unfortunately very toxic to me (abusive and cheating behind my back), but I still didn't railroad him. For this reason, I just don't understand why a lot of women are behaving this way.

A marriage “contract” is a business agreement between two people. The business of making a product = children. The business makes children for the “State” aka, future tax payers. That’s all it is. “The Law & Contract” do not care about your feelings, sexuality or infidelity, only the “child product” &/or if there was fraud of finances against the contract. This was/is the fight for equality under the law for women. A truly equal separation of marital “business assets” didn’t happen until recently. Law always favored the male because they were the money earners and could care for the children (Product). Now, women are big money earners and can take care of the children w/help from government run daycare/schools, etc. Law always favors the best interest of their product (children). - Wake Up.

I would say someone who puts the family first and has a high priority to take care of others. A lack of empathy in my opinion makes a terrible family environment, and family is important if you don’t want to be lonely when you’re old.

Back when I was still looking for someone, I decided to not pursue relationships and started to remove myself from the scene. I later realized I had dodged a bipolar one (she said so afterwards). You never know what kind of minefield you're walking into.
My mother hit me. Made me walk on a floor with glass. Fed us chips... as all meals. My dad finally won custody. And ...and after he died ... she claims she was never abusive
I think coach red pill was talking about one thing that stuck in my head: "Woman have to fear you". And we're not talking about just beeing afraid of getting punched in the face. We're talking about deep respect. Fear of consequences. Like a child that stops misbehaving when dad looks/talks in a certain way. I can’t even imagine being betrayed by your wife so deeply, then having her sue, turn your kids against, have to pay her. How these wives and judges are able to just walk away like they did nothing is astonishing.

@@Ascension_3030 marriage is a state or provincial jurisdiction. If it was executed properly, you should not have a problem. A prenup is a contract. It should be prepared and executed as a contract.
Pre nups are nearly useless in North America.
A judge can tear your prenup up in front of you and tell you to wipe your ass with it.
If a woman challenges it, it’s not worth the paper it’s written on. Not saying some judges won’t honor it, but none are obligated to.

@Michael Kelly this stuff needs to be taught to people. I was raised from two parents that were honest and had integrity. Their word was everything. When you grow up like that you tend to see all people that way because you don’t know anything else. lol now I’m much better at reading people and reading the bullshit.

@Michael Kelly you are correct. She wanted nothing, she took what she wanted, we had no kids. As much as it hurt I think it made the process "easier (for lack of better terms)". If we were in contact or she stayed till it was over it would have sucked even more.

This SH!T makes me sick to my stomach! I got off good with a ex-wife that didn't go after me for everything but family law still heavily favored her and here I am paying for several years in order to still support her and another 10+ year to support my children who are actually with me most of the time, when I had no choice in the divorce just because she decided she was in love with some ex-boyfriend.

My fiance left a few days ago after 8 years. We were supposed to move to a new city and get married in a few months as she got a job. She left me the day i got assigned my own satellite office for my current company in said city. Im 26 so needless to say its a great opportunity. Gonna take it. Gonna be hard but hearing stories like this makes me feel like my situation is nothing. Life is scary.

My brother went through a similar situation, not as much money and he had an awesome attorney that helped him win full custody, the home, and she ended up having to pay child support. But it was a battle that he thankfully got through and survived. I feel for men that are taken for everything. It always makes me think of the scene in movie "Liar, Liar" where the mom wins and the dad is left just devastated & kids are crying. It's horrible to destroy people this way.

Lol facts. I was talking with a fwb. Until I realised I was giving way too much attention to her. And she was most likely cheating on her bf with me (we had sex before), but even though I was not certain about that, I decided to go cold and barely reply. She then texts me “where’s my attention”. Blocked and removed her number.

I have never been married…never had any children….I’m alone with no women. I get some women from time to time but it’s not often. I’m 36 years old and lonely. After listening to this man I feel slot better about myself. Damn life sucks sometimes

I sit in my small apt in solitude. the woman I endured, married 10 years created enough stress that it might take me another 10 to recover, but I'm on a good path. I enjoy things once again.

Probably the best decision I ever made in life was and is to never get married . I had my own business and retired at 54 .. I'm now 63 and all of my friends are married or divorced .. everyone of them tell me I'm the happiest person they have ever met ... well that's a no brainer on why .. haha
