This is exactly how I make yogurt for the family. One thing to note is that the reason to take milk to 180F is not to kill bacteria, but to denature the casein protein so that it will congeal when the lactic acid brings down the pH.

Very good instructions here. Basic and it just works. I make my yogurt the same way basically. Sometimes in summer heat I put my containers in the car outside with the windows rolled up. It gets to 115 degrees for 3 or 4 hours which is enough. Sometimes I strain it after it cools down in the refer. Strain for an hour in a regular strainer for something more like "Greek" yogurt. From the strained process I save the liquid whey to cook with. Bread making and biscuits using this instead of buttermilk is great. Thanks for this basic mindful video!

As a reminder, the fermentation of the yoghurt continues for 8 hours and after the first 8 hours, the yoghurt should be kept in the refrigerator for at least 4 hours (taste development and stabilization).
Market yoghurts lack sufficient lactic acid so correct and sufficient bacterization cannot be achieved, and it is not the right choice to be treated as yeast.
Top quality yoghurt in terms of taste and content Make it with buffalo milk and infuse the dew on the herbs before sunrise for the yeast.

maybe is missing honey. another kind of yogurt is oat and water, keep it overnight or for 2 days in a jar, depending on the temperature. then can add honey or salt.

If it hasn’t been said, you must use pure unflavoured yogurt with no additives.. Otherwise, this video is a great tutorial. I’m fortunate that I have a large Excalibur dehydrator and use that to incubate my yogurt.

To keep the yogurt warm. That's what a yogurt maker would follow also. Another method if you live in a colder climate is to leave the milk and yogurt in the pan, covered for 4 hours.
