- I had some success getting to the 10.0 ET range late last fall. I made 2 updates since fall 2018.
1. I added an o2 bung to the header collector extension I built last fall so I can run open with the Fitech.
2. I just uploaded a video to show why I tried an intake swap. I went from a ported team G (ported to a set of heads no longer on the car) to an Edelbrock vicotr Jr R intake.
I made 4 passes total. I drove the car with exhaust to the track and made pass 1 as it came off the hwy.
P1 - 1.562 60', 6.724 660' @ 104.6 mph, 10.49 @ 130.1 mph 1/4
remove mufflers, ran open headers, and reset Fitech learns
P2 - 1.486 60', 6.526 660' @ 106 mph, 10.234 @ 131.9 mph 1/4
P3 - 1.453 60', 6.442 660' @ 107.1 mph, 10.128 @ 132.5 mph 1/4
P4 - 1.612 60', 6.878 660' @ 105.29 mph, 10.61 @ 132.2 MPH 1/4
I think the car liked the timing it's unfortunate that with the stealth tank I have to have a minimum of 2/3 of a 20 gallon tank to make a pass without fuel slosh issue. the camera catches my gas gauge very faintly goes to "E" when it hits. In the car that is as violent as any launch I've ever felt. I picked up more MPH on the backhalf with the added timing so I'll leave it like this.
I am not sure if I have too many files in my data logs folder of the Fitech and without dates I am not sure which if I have any logs of the two I know I tried to log. I would expect the highest numbered file to contain the pass where I feel the fuel was not being pumped briefly. the data in the log doesn't show what happened so that's why I question if I have any logs.
I hope to get out a few more times to get this intake fully tested.
If I do not see the numbers I want I am probably going back to my afr265s and ported intake. I think the bump in compression is that extra little I may need to get a 9.9x slip.
9’s for sure this summer!!! Awesome!!
Sadly that didn't and still hasn't happened.
Awesome vid!!!!!👍👍👍👍👍👍 keep the videos like this coming!!!
I hope that you crack the 9's👍
Hello so you happy with the 496 big block ... In 2 weeks I'm getting one its going in my 454ss truck do you think thats a good size motor for my truck.... Looks like it gets that Nova going good ......................................................Everyone go racing burn some tires and be happy
A 496 is a very capable power plant for a lot of applications. Cam size, heads, and compression should match you purpose for best results. Never build it to sound a certain way.
So fast for what looked like small tires . How fat are the tires in the rear and what diff are you using ? I want a 496 :) , my rear end would have to be upgraded , but no point unless the tires are fat enough to hook it up .
255x60x15 on 15x7 rim. tread is listed as 8.8" this car requires a well prepped track and needs some better shocks to plant the power. the rear end is a 9" Strange Engineering 35 spline axle with spool and 3.25 gears.
Awesome car! Wich fitech you run? And why you switch to a carb? Greetings from germany.
I am running the 30012 power adder fitech. It was for sale on a local classifieds. The carb has a 4150 main body that is rated 1050 cfm. The fitech is about 830 cfm. Power adder functions for boost and n2o. I have used it NA and with n2o so far.
@@bure4me thank you for answer. I build a 496 too. What you prefer? Fitech or carb? Greetings from germany.
@@jamieschneeberger2284 the car is so much easier to drive in all seasons with the Fitech. The carb has proven to be a few hundredths quicker in similar conditions. I do drag and drive events so I keep the carb with me just in case the ecu goes out. I cannot have a single point of failure and keeping a spare fitech seems like a waste of money since I have a good carb already.
@@bure4me thank you very much. Ive build a similar engine and many guys told me that i dont use the fitech or holley because the cfm. But you change my mind. Thank you for the informations.
What transmission converter and gear you run. Nice build 👌
Turbo 400 built for 1000 hp by transmissions to go in Arnold Mo. Trams specialties mid stall 9.5 42-4400 rpm, and 9" with 3.25 gears
@@bure4me nice. I'm shocked by the gear. How much does the car weigh race weight she runs good for that gear.
@@doughtonantoine from 3520 to 3590 depending on configuration. Open header saves a little weight. The car usually has 12-14 gallons in primary fuel tank. N2o bottle weight if spraying. In this video I'd say 3550 or so. I have thought about a 3.50 or 3.55. It has trapped 143 mph on the bottle at roughly 6300 rpm. Na it's maybe 6100 rpm. 1/8 th mile second gear is basically topped out
What headers?
Hooker 2285
Man you need 2 speed power guild behind that BBC
I thought they were for 3000 lb and lighter cars? My th400 was just refreshed 2 months ago and is built to handle 1000 hp which is about where I would end up if I spray my n2o plate at max jetting.
Stay the course!
