  • The rigidizer needs to set for a long time before we use the forge. I just brushed it on and walked away. Hopefully it will keep me from dying from lung cancer.

    Some people say you should also apply a layer or refractory cement?

    Did you have any problem with the leftover material hardening in the original container?

      Not yet. I'm sure if I left the lid open it would eventually dry out.

    About to do this. Others used a spray bottle to apply. Do you think that would have been a better method or not?

    I haven't been able to figure out if I need to glue the wool to the walls first with something? Could you let me know if you did please.

    Hey man im just setting up to apply the exact same stuff and i am using ifb as a base layer as well just running them in the opposite direction. Anything youve learned you wished you knew 2 years ago before i proceed with this application? I have a old wood stove i filled with 2 layers on all walls of a old rectangular wood stove looks like we have the same burner set up so just curious i made my cavitie alot amaller then yours did you achieve welding temp? Thanks in advance

      It still runs fine. Although, I don't have a huge number of hours on it. I have learned not to run it for a long time on a wooden bench top.

    I'm making a propane forge right now. Is this stuff worth it? Does it actually work? I bought some refractory cement to coat the wool but if this is better.
