I wish they had delved into Shane’s dating history in a flashback cos it’s what made him obsessed with Lori.. in the car he mentions he’s been sleeping around. He could never have a family - and Lori and Carl were what he was looking for in all those relationships that didn’t work out. Sad really.
Sara Sweet What we saw was the heart monitor, but coma patients have to be hooked to a life support system as well. The bomb knocked out the power, so if it turned off the monitor, it turned off the life support. And it only showed the heart monitor to show Shane couldn't know if he was alive or not.
BrooklynMcupkiller he's not on life support. Life support includes a ventilator. I don't even see a drip going at all. He's not on a feeding tube. He's not on cardio-pulmonary bypass which the wouldn't even use outside surgery. Shane was panicking and probably with all the noise it was hard to hear a heart beat.
He did thought rick was dead, he tried everything to save him, he went to the hospital and tried to take him out, he kept lori and carl alive, he fall in love with lori, he adapted to the zombie apocalypse way too fast so people thou he was insane and dangerous, he tried to be the bigger man and leave the group because he loved lori, he was right all along, he tried his best to stay away from lori and rick but lori just fuck his mind Shane the best twd character
@joel5135 agree it facts Shane was literally trying to leave and maybe after he leave he would work on himself I know he a survivor he be fine and he come back or the group found Shane again and Shane would be a better person but nook Lori literally have to talk to Shane and not want him to leave after she just told Shane to stay away from her and Carl but guess what Lori came towards Lori instead while Shane was getting away from her. Honestly I hate Lori so much
i love how shane is seen putting something infront of his mouth when he notices the walkers at the end. trying to protect his lungsas you could only guess what this infection is and how it spreads
*There is absolutely no way they would have made it out alive. Shane made the right call.* Also, by the odds, Rick was as good as dead. It was a miracle he survived and found the group.
The first two seasons of The Walking Dead is amazing & some of the best television ever. Shane was my favorite character. While he was a little crazy, he was still right about everything and did what had to be done. They all became like Shane 5 seasons later. Also, Jon Bernthal is an amazing and unique actor, he brought a lot to the series.
I stopped watching at the end of S2. Not because I was one of those people that thought Shane was in the right - he def lost it - but the conflict with him was genuine compared to the cartoon villains that followed.
Honestly I completely understand why Shane thought he was dead in my opinion. He just didn’t know what to do. He was overwhelmed. Crazy stuff was going on. I agree, he’s not the best, but I do not blame him for this at all.
This was the reason why I loved early Shane a misunderstood man that wanted to help his friend his brother until the apocalypse and a woman came between them
Soldier over the radio: AHHHHH!!!!!!!! WE NEED BACKUP NOW OR WE'RE FUCKED!!!!!!! FUCKING SHIT!!!!!! AHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!- *static* Soldier: Ah shit. Wait, oh the door opened. AH FUCKING SHIT WHERE'D THESE ZOMBIES COME FROM!!??!?! SOMEONE HELP ME!!!! AHHH!!!!
It's a deleted scene actually. The soldier that walked in on Shane had an argument over whether Shane is infected or not, and the soldier comes close to shooting Shane. Shane is able to stop that from happening, and both realize they're just wasting time, and the soldier goes on doing what he has to do.
If he did see him, he had bigger problems & didn't care. They just got attacked by a group of zombies, and this was back when everyone was still terrified of any number of them.
the military were not able to contain the outbreak in part the fault of the civilians. Examples of this are crazy people as the governor who killed an entire convoy of National Guard and they were not hostile. cobalt protocol was to evacuate the remaining troops and reassembles them into a new line of defense, probably any base or aircraft carrier, perhaps a fleet. being part of the protocol for sure the bombing of the hordes that were trapped in marked areas, as the arena that stupid family opened with that many zombies escaped and even destroyed the evacuation plans and most of the troops who were on the base. although crazy, the governor was right about one thing he said in the comic, the war against the zombies was not won because many people only looked at themselves and fled the fight, preferring to hide. this applies to both civil and military, noting that many civilians have sought to derail what could the military who were willing to fight. Another important point are the members of the control of diseases not assumed duty as the doctor said in the first season.
J 97 theres also what michone said, and where she came from, it was made clear that the military had possibly good civilians had strongholds in some places but it seems people got infected and stayed in the safe zones without telling anyone one person panics and its all over because they open the gate boom hordes of walkers and no more safe zone
the war against the walkers is impossible to be won, because any time someone dies ( no matter the cause, natural or not) he will turn into a walker. Sure, it could be controlled and people could live with it, but it would still be a big danger to the world.
I was always confused on how rick survived being unconscious in the hospital. Not because of the outbreak, but just basic human biology. The human body can't go for 3 days without water so rick would've been extremely dehydrated not to mention he was in a coma. When Shane give fresh flowers when Rick wakes up the flowers are withered.(to be fair most wither within 3-5 days) that would mean that rick woke up right around the time the outbreak started but the timeline doesn't make sense.
1:48. From there, Shane legit thought he lost his best friend. I mean, who could blame him?? All that happened, he didn't have a choice. He left his friend with the best protection he could and got out before he was corpse too.
April 29, 2018---When I first started watching this show, thought it was great, but they lost me when they left the CDC in Atlanta, not taking the Humvee or .50 caliber machines guns. Yeah, even if it didn't have ammo, there was the possibility of finding some. Haven't watched it since.
This is still my most favorite scene from the Walking Dead. These were the great days. I have no idea what the show has become now, haven’t watched since like season 7
Love how shane covers his nose and mouth when the walkers walk towards him...this reminds viewers that this world does not have ANY conception on what a zombie is or how its disease would spread.
Honestly if it gets really bad in America I wouldn't be surprised if the military was given orders started shooting infected civilians, doctors, and law enforcement.
The fact that Shane barricaded the door before leaving showed that he really did care for Rick. He didnt want him to be eaten even if he did think he was dead. Shane definitely changed as time went on but in the beginning he was a solid dude who loved his best friend.
*Solid scene & a favorite* *To this day, the brief but intense encounter that this scene offers is still the most scarring memory of the entire series for me. You feel the urgency, desperation & how alone Shane is in that situation. Shane cares for Rick but thought he passed on & he didn't know how to help; doing the only thing he knew he could at the time or potentially lose his own l¡fe by attempting to take Rick along with him*
Shane literally watched Rick die, or so he thought.. Rick was on life support and the power went out, and he STILL tried to listen for a heartbeat, when soldiers were shooting civilians AND each other in the hall. Shane didn't push that gourney in front of the door to save Rick; he did it out of respect for his friend so the zombies wouldn't feed on him.. 😢
1:43 Shane listens to Ricks heart beat and easily shows that he’s dead, but rick wakes up like 2 months later, super pale..... Maybe ricks blood is a cure as he is immune to the virus....When Carl gets shot Rick gives him blood and he lives, fast forward to season 8 and Carl gets bit but since he has Ricks blood it won’t affect him at all
That idea would have been perfect, having Carl live through the bite; it even would have gave a fresh arc to the live action series, but unfortunately Gimble has shit writing.
The absolute horror and utter fear Shane had to have felt and utter helplessness seeing the CDC and what had to be UN peacekeeping troops taking out the. entire hospital I believe permanently damaged him and set in motion what ultimately reached critical mass.
Seamus Perkins simple. they werent there to keep peace. if you bothered to read the entire post i put up you would have remembered they took out the entire hospital. un troops primary agenda in crisis situatuons is not to help you. its to provide continuity of government and quell dissent. why do you think they were so willing to gun down unarmed citizens? an idiot calling me an idiot. i love it. that shows that you didnt read a damn thing i said and that you really dont know a fucking thing. my guess..youre a totally uninformed liberal trendy who actually believes we can trust our government in crisis situations to take care of us. you really are clueless. go back to sleep sweetheart.
They aren't UN soldiers.... lmfao they wear bright baby blue helmets and have UN patches on their uniforms. You're the clueless one woman, go read a book
I will say this for Shane...he REALLY thought Eick was dead. He thought those machines were the only thing keeping him alive so rather than watching his corpse get mutilated by walkers he barricaded the door and got his family to safety. Did he go Psycho later? OH YEAH. But at the time, he did act heroically.
+Needle Viper no there not there shooting innocent civillians i guessed the military are now people shooting people right now dont ever trust the military they just following orders
One curious thing I find in this scene is why the solider was putting bullets into the peoples heads after killing them. One the knowledge to kill a walker with head shots only was not known at this time and 2... They weren't even walkers at that point. Obviously no one knew if someone dies they come back. The fact in this same season they made it a really huge point that only the cdc guy knows everyone comes back as a walker no matter how they die makes this scene insanely inconsistent lol
Shane Walsh: Things were falling apart, they were slaughtering people in the hallways it was a massacre, there were walkers everywhere. Lori Grimes: So you left him? Shane Walsh: Well everybody else ran, there were no doctors there, it was just me he was hooked up to machines and I did not know what to do. I put my ear on his chest to listen for a heartbeat and I did not hear one. And I-I-I-I-I don't know why, maybe it was the gun fire but somehow he survived like No Way. Lori Grimes: He did.
They didnt ignore it they in fact actually dealt with them because you hear shooting as he waljs aways and then you see them walk pass checking the room shane is in.
He didn't knew back then how the virus was affecting someone's health, he thought it was in the air. That's indeed interesting and realistic asf, Season 1 gave life to the characters and the plot, S2 also. But S3 and then everything was going downhill...
He would have come to think about it if Shane got his shit togheter after the whole 1 on 1 with Rick he would have been a great asset to the group he adapted very fast to the situation at hand he wanted Lori Carl and Rick safe most of all the group came second to him always but yet again
you see when i was first getting into this show years ago like 2014-2015 this was in the top moments for me and still today in 2020 almost a decade after the show premiered, that i genuinely felt for shane like he thought his BROTHER was gone man and he didn't know what to do and i know how wack things got afterwards but it's just heartbreaking that shane lost his mind too early on like he had potential
Why was the Air Force bombing a building with friendlies inside? Is this the civil war the ones who live mention or just lack of communication during Cobalt? Also if you guys don't know, the Military here left in a real hurry, they left valuable equipment behind, Stryker APCs, Humvees and even Hueys, and considering all the helicopter sounds probably Helis leaving from the abandoned camp outside, they were evacuating military from the hospital and executing Cobalt protocols, this is explained by the fact that they're near Atlanta so hordes were closing in the city and surrounding all military, so it pretty much explains why they left in a hurry, they were being overrun..
This was when the walking dead developed characters well. This is why the series would work better with smaller seasons (like 10 episode seasons) Because you could spend more screen time developing the core cast, or new members of it, instead of trying to go round all 29 characters every episode. I mean even season 2 was t that bad, season 3 was decent, but it all started rotting after season 4. The script, the acting and the plot is being stretched from 5-10 episodes to 16, and its irritating, because the show still has potential. It took a villain to shake things up for the show but it honestly will never be this. There was more tension and less music, and I preferred the way it was filmed and the camera filter used. Such a shame
1:03 Wouldn't that soldier have shot Rick, just to be sure? They obviously knew people were coming back after death since they showed them putting bullets in the doctors and nurses' heads after they shot them in the hallway.
TWD is not the same man! Totally different vibes in season 10… When the show started it was an actual apocalypse… Now there’s no more military personnel, no more scientists wondering what started the outbreak, barely any guns and everyone talks in metaphors😞 God this show used to be great
it's funny how in the first season the military struggled their ass of to fight walkers, meanwhile in the later season a new born could easily take down a walker
Shane was actually a real true one of a kind friend, i wish lori didn't exsist, if she really not, rick and shane will probably the strongest duo among with daryl and glen and no one will gonna beat their group even negan.
*Shane did the best he could* Had he tried to carry (or pushed the hospital bed) Rick, they would have either been eaten by walkers or shot by the military.
loved watching the dark, world is ending atmosphere of the first season, it was actualy pretty cool and scary to watch the world crumble in a worst case scenario.
They're so busy making sure all the living people are dead to ensure the virus doesn't spread that they forgot to actually try and put down the actually infected zombies eating everyone
The military may be a fearsome and dangerous force none could ever stand up against. But if they drop their own guard or not pay attention at their surroundings and behind them, that’s when the zombies turn them from cold, indestructible force into a living lunch buffet.

T_T Don't be an idiot. Shane had saved Rick's life by leaving him still hooked to the machine. Also, he blocked the door so no walkers can devour him.
He did thought rick was dead, he tried everything to save him, he went to the hospital and tried to take him out, he kept lori and carl alive, he fall in love with lori, he adapted to the zombie apocalypse way too fast so people thou he was insane and dangerous, he tried to be the bigger man and leave the group because he loved lori, he was right all along, he tried his best to stay away from lori and rick but lori just fuck his mind
Shane the best twd character
No
@@ph41218 lmfao its a fact
@@ph41218 you 🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬
@joel5135 agree it facts Shane was literally trying to leave and maybe after he leave he would work on himself I know he a survivor he be fine and he come back or the group found Shane again and Shane would be a better person but nook Lori literally have to talk to Shane and not want him to leave after she just told Shane to stay away from her and Carl but guess what Lori came towards Lori instead while Shane was getting away from her.
Honestly I hate Lori so much
i love how shane is seen putting something infront of his mouth when he notices the walkers at the end. trying to protect his lungsas you could only guess what this infection is and how it spreads
This scene is better than Fear the Walking Dead
And Fear the Walking Dead is better than the entire last season of the Walking Dead.
Than Season 6,7 and maybe 8.
yeah season 3 of fear the walking dead is better than the last 2 seasons of twd, i prefer fear now
You're goddamn right.
I believe Shane was a good guy and meant well but he became crazy over time because of how mentally draining everything was.
Yes
Poor Shane, he probably had to make the toughest decision of his life!
*There is absolutely no way they would have made it out alive. Shane made the right call.*
Also, by the odds, Rick was as good as dead.
So true@@Kaiyanwang82
Honestly I completely understand why Shane thought he was dead in my opinion. He just didn’t know what to do. He was overwhelmed. Crazy stuff was going on. I agree, he’s not the best, but I do not blame him for this at all.
This was the reason why I loved early Shane a misunderstood man that wanted to help his friend his brother until the apocalypse and a woman came between them
wow, those are the most clumbsy soldiers i have ever seen.
"oh the door opened, let me just ignore it, AH SHIT WHERE DID THIS ZOMBIE COME FROM!?"
Besides the fact that they are wearing masks blocking their ears and their radios are going screaming for help from other soldiers
if Zombies are outside, i think the main priority would be to keep the door closed, no?
or at the very least having someone vigilant?
and who issued the nat. guard M4A1's?! thats really stupid.
Soldier over the radio: AHHHHH!!!!!!!! WE NEED BACKUP NOW OR WE'RE FUCKED!!!!!!! FUCKING SHIT!!!!!! AHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!- *static*

Well you gotta figure the weight of their gear, its not easy to run in those vests all though they do make it look easy.

1 of the military guys saw shane
+Stagetail You say that like it's a bad thing. The Military and Police are both government services you tinfoil hat wearing fuck.
It's a deleted scene actually. The soldier that walked in on Shane had an argument over whether Shane is infected or not, and the soldier comes close to shooting Shane. Shane is able to stop that from happening, and both realize they're just wasting time, and the soldier goes on doing what he has to do.
Excited Aleks idk look it up. I know I read something on it
@@UmberEyes >:v
If he did see him, he had bigger problems & didn't care. They just got attacked by a group of zombies, and this was back when everyone was still terrified of any number of them.
Shane was like a brother to Rick.
aside from that.
True
I really wish Shane was still an awesome guy like I'm this scene
the military were not able to contain the outbreak in part the fault of the civilians.
Thats right. I think he was just... Phillip
SJon Umber wym
J 97 ikr it’s just impossible for the military to lose to slow walking monsters lol
Sure, it could be controlled and people could live with it, but it would still be a big danger to the world.
man imagine in Corporal chose to unload his rifle at that hospital bed, no TWD
I'm still surprised he didn't. In real life, they would have unloaded on both Rick and Shane.
Did they ever tell us how long since the outbreak happened to when Rick wakes up from coma?
@@zaki6548 i dont think so
It's a tv show lmao
@@zaki6548sorry this is late but i found that it was 2-3 months into the apocalypse when he woke up from his coma
1:48. From there, Shane legit thought he lost his best friend. I mean, who could blame him?? All that happened, he didn't have a choice. He left his friend with the best protection he could and got out before he was corpse too.
I wonder if negan and "Lucille" had been in the same hospital, only those who read the comic book will understand me
Grey Kobra no I understand. And that would be cool, if the military killed Megan, Glenn would not of had to die or the other guy
Grey Kobra I believe it was in a other state, not Georgia.
Alejandro Ávila Gallegos I believe negan was from Virginia coz twd right now is in Virginia
Internet Weirdo It's very possible
We might see soon enough. Rumor is Season 8 is gonna do the Negan backstory & we'll see if it is.
April 29, 2018---When I first started watching this show, thought it was great, but they lost me when they left the CDC in Atlanta, not taking the Humvee or .50 caliber machines guns. Yeah, even if it didn't have ammo, there was the possibility of finding some. Haven't watched it since.
0:27 The most worthless excuses for soldiers ever. Just blatantly jobbing to those zombies.

Love how shane covers his nose and mouth when the walkers walk towards him...this reminds viewers that this world does not have ANY conception on what a zombie is or how its disease would spread.
0:15 live footage from a Chinese hospital in Wuhan
Honestly if it gets really bad in America I wouldn't be surprised if the military was given orders started shooting infected civilians, doctors, and law enforcement.

For a split second at 0:53 you see Shane look down and hear him unpeel the gloves off.
@@Andr3wco7 that was fast af though 😂
The fact that Shane barricaded the door before leaving showed that he really did care for Rick. He didnt want him to be eaten even if he did think he was dead. Shane definitely changed as time went on but in the beginning he was a solid dude who loved his best friend.
*Solid scene & a favorite*
*To this day, the brief but intense encounter that this scene offers is still the most scarring memory of the entire series for me. You feel the urgency, desperation & how alone Shane is in that situation. Shane cares for Rick but thought he passed on & he didn't know how to help; doing the only thing he knew he could at the time or potentially lose his own l¡fe by attempting to take Rick along with him*
I like the detail of Shane covering his face since the plague was new and he didn’t know how it spread.
0:15 When you stole toilet paper.
1:43 Shane listens to Ricks heart beat and easily shows that he’s dead, but rick wakes up like 2 months later, super pale..... Maybe ricks blood is a cure as he is immune to the virus....When Carl gets shot Rick gives him blood and he lives, fast forward to season 8 and Carl gets bit but since he has Ricks blood it won’t affect him at all
wow thanks for the biting part, you've just spoiled it
Adrian Contreras despite that, the director sacked Griggs so... yeah
Adrian Contreras I read some where that there was a nurse taking care of rick
That would have been a cool turn out shame it didn’t turn out that way
That idea would have been perfect, having Carl live through the bite; it even would have gave a fresh arc to the live action series, but unfortunately Gimble has shit writing.

Soldier2:Yeah all is over!!!!
I heard that at first then turned up volume they were saying fall back lo

The absolute horror and utter fear Shane had to have felt and utter helplessness seeing the CDC and what had to be UN peacekeeping troops taking out the. entire hospital I believe permanently damaged him and set in motion what ultimately reached critical mass.
Lisa Prince why the fuck would they be UN peace keeping troops, you idiot?
That’s the US army or national guard not the UN
I will say this for Shane...he REALLY thought Eick was dead. He thought those machines were the only thing keeping him alive so rather than watching his corpse get mutilated by walkers he barricaded the door and got his family to safety. Did he go Psycho later? OH YEAH. But at the time, he did act heroically.
I'd really like to know more about what happened to the military and the forces keeping the zombies at bay before everything went from bad to worse.
They say it started with #glen but really it all started when Shane put that hospital bed in front of #rickgrimes door 🚪💯
This is what we all wanted to see in Fear the Walking Dead, the shit hitting the fan, not a quarter of a riot through a crack in a door
Ok every military rule is to keep you weapon up when you are not using it he literally aimed it at his men

@@maccamachine yep
0:34 pay attention to front walker eating soldier's helmet LMFAO.
Just noticed how the military was doing headshots AFTER they killed the patients….they knew something we didn’t at the time good foreshadowing
The early seasons of TWD were absolute gold.
The "outbreak" phase is always more entertaining than the "aftermath" phase.
They didnt ignore it they in fact actually dealt with them because you hear shooting as he waljs aways and then you see them walk pass checking the room shane is in.
It's interesting how when he sees the walkers he puts a rag over his face to try to stop from being infected
He didn't knew back then how the virus was affecting someone's health, he thought it was in the air. That's indeed interesting and realistic asf, Season 1 gave life to the characters and the plot, S2 also. But S3 and then everything was going downhill...
0:50: if this is not being a good friend then I don't know what it is!
The good days when The Walking Dead was prime tv. Oh man i miss having TWD watch parties with friends. Truly great times
How would Shane react to Negan
Boba Fett definitely wouldn't cry and whimper like Rick
What was doing Negan at this time?
He would have come to think about it if Shane got his shit togheter after the whole 1 on 1 with Rick he would have been a great asset to the group he adapted very fast to the situation at hand he wanted Lori Carl and Rick safe most of all the group came second to him always but yet again
EliteTTfede at this time he was with his dying wife Lucille
EliteTTfede i think Negan was a preschool teacher...
They paint this flashback as proof of Shane leaving Rick- but that man did all he could. I don’t blame him at all.
you see when i was first getting into this show years ago like 2014-2015 this was in the top moments for me and still today in 2020 almost a decade after the show premiered, that i genuinely felt for shane like he thought his BROTHER was gone man and he didn't know what to do and i know how wack things got afterwards but it's just heartbreaking that shane lost his mind too early on like he had potential
To think where to where this friendship went. Very sad 😢
Guys this isn’t the national guard. This is the US army 1st Cavalry Division
A basic hospital in Italy in 2020.
That doesn't make any sense???
I love how no one was watching the door and how when a zombie bit the soldier none of the others did anything
This was when the walking dead developed characters well. This is why the series would work better with smaller seasons (like 10 episode seasons)
Because you could spend more screen time developing the core cast, or new members of it, instead of trying to go round all 29 characters every episode.
0:31 Shane “they’re probably fine”
1:05 how can you see through that shit?

*Shane did the best he could*
Had he tried to carry (or pushed the hospital bed) Rick, they would have either been eaten by walkers or shot by the military.
loved watching the dark, world is ending atmosphere of the first season, it was actualy pretty cool and scary to watch the world crumble in a worst case scenario.
So let me get this straight. They have automatic weapons and can't shoot a bunch of slow walkers in a corridor
They're so busy making sure all the living people are dead to ensure the virus doesn't spread that they forgot to actually try and put down the actually infected zombies eating everyone
weird connection, but I sometimes wonder if those are the same guardsmen that the governor kills in season 3.

The military may be a fearsome and dangerous force none could ever stand up against. But if they drop their own guard or not pay attention at their surroundings and behind them, that’s when the zombies turn them from cold, indestructible force into a living lunch buffet.
