Just as surprized as when I saw this one a good while back. The color shift is subtle but quick and close enough in shades that it makes you question your own perception. And it still acheives this with very little movement. Almost looked like it was flexing it's shades even when perfectly still. Very classy.

I wonder if it would look the same if you did mix the colors beforehand. I really really like it. Usually colorshifts that cross more than an 8th of the color wheel are too intense for me. But it’s really very subtle. I sort of want it on my car now. It kind of reminds me of the rainbow effect in an oil slick on top of a puddle.

Tim Mac The factory dark grey pearl on my Toyota Land Cruiser has a white base. Perhaps the factory has special conditions to make it work. The white base becomes obvious on scratches and I wish it was black because it wouldn’t be so obvious.

It is not that is does not work, it is just takes more paint and costs more.
When the black based is done and presentable, the white based part is cloudy and unfinished.
They don't do plastidip on cars in factories either but I imagine it is basically the same idea.
I imagine it would also take more paint to make a black based car white.
Here is the video if you are interested.

What about alternating coats with two different pearls? Not sure if you'd tried that, but awesome color nonetheless.

Another similar idea would be to do a base color, then a bunch of clear coats with really light amounts of pearl in each one, so you get a ton of depth to your finish

I have an idea that might give you the results better than combining both colors together. What if you have a split can keeping the colors separate and 2 separate draw hoses that alternatively draw the paint? Something like 2 to 3 seconds from one color then 2 to 3 seconds from the other color. This way the only time the colors get mixed is when the other color overlaps. A bit of manipulation in the timing of the guy squeezing the trigger on the spray gun will also change the results. How you setup an intermittent spray is for the genius in the group. If you do try it I'm sure that you may be onto a new way to apply paint. Good luck!
