I just began playing Zodiac Age (never played the original release) and I thought you did a fantastic job simplifying what to prioritize early, mid, and late game which is great for a newbie like me. Thanks!
I'm so glad to have come across this video. I had no idea (because I am an idiot sandwich) that you could pair Esuna with Ally: Any and it would trigger as soon as any ally caught any status ailment healable with Esuna. This whole time, I was wasting gambit slots pair Esuna with each individual status ailment that wasn't covered by Blinda, Vox, etc 😒😒 so thank you so much for this; my White Mage is WAAAAy more optimized now
Thank you! Happy Holidays brother!
Did a great job on this video bud! Thank you!
Great informative video, thanks!
You have a great intro for your vids.

Thank you, that is a great help! :-)
I am glad it helps.
I made fran an ulhan, blackmage
This game has so many choices to make
Great video. Do you have plans to post PATK and MATK Job Gambit setups? Or do you only need to have them using Attack? 🤔 like Black Mage setups etc
Nice video bro..
which espers did u gave each character for ur specific job classes combo setup? thanks
Do you have any recommendations for equipment setups?
If you have both white mage and time mage reacting at 70% won't they just be casting the same spells at the same time/ like if someone faints won't they essentially cast raise/phoenix down twice when only once was necessary?
No that really depends on what spells you have equip on the gambits and for example if both of them have the curaja spell on the HP below 70% gambit and you and your team gets hit more than what they can heal that would be the reason why. As for phoenix downs and raise it will not make them use it at the same time because whoever goes first will use the item or spell and the other person will skip the raise/phoenix down condition and move on to the next condition like buffing your team up. The only time it will do that is if your whole team is dying very quickly. The system has a fail safe where if one condition is being handled by one ai then the other ai will skip that first condition and moves on to the next as it has to check before doing anything.
I had been setting ally status = each individual status effect for Esuna. It didn’t occur to me that I could save gambit space by setting it to Ally:any. Does this work?
Yes the ally any is for any change in a character's status so whichever affliction is on the character it would proc that gambit. The video shows it as well.
2 to attack the 3 to give help
Ally - any - esuna/ga wouldn’t that just spam it regardless of whether an enemy hits them with a debuff? I played the original (not TZA, By the optional boss zemos or zeromus which ever version of his name thwy used, I had what seemed a decent setup. Unfortunately it took me looking up a lot to try to understand how each what if works and I’ve completely lost that blasted knowledge…
No they wouldn't spam it if it is something that esunaga or esuna cannot cure so the game has a good check system that watches out for these things. So take slow for example, it is a debuff and cannot be cured by esuna because it is not a status ailment but only by haste or hastega. The system checks when you have the ally any gambit tied to esuna will not proc because it cannot cure slow but if you have the ally any gambit tied to hastega, it will spam it because it is a buff and can be use on any status regardless of the condition. So it checks on what the spell, item or tech to see if it will have any effect base on what it can and cannot do. So the ally any gambit is really good as it goes with almost anything and esuna will only proc if it can heal it.
@@nozomu10 oh okay, thank you and best wishes to you.:)
I can't seen Vaan's jobs in the video, what's his job combination?
Monk/Shikari. You can see everyone at 14:27.
why most of my gambits bar are grey and don't seem to function?
I know this is late and you probably worked it out or didn't and stopped playing, maybe this helps you or someone else. The cursor on the gambits can be on the left (which turns it on or off you see him do it in the vid), middle for target, right for action (attack, spell, etc)
Did I mess up by making my white mage a time battlemage as well? Should I have split those jobs up?
My set up is
Vaan - Shikari/Foebreaker
Basch - Knight/Bushi
Blathier - Bushi/Monk
Fran - Uhlan/Machinist
Panelo - White Mage/Time Battlemage
Ashe - Black mage/Red Mage
Nah you really didn't mess up but it will be harder to get your buffs on your characters since your Penelo is a healer whose priority is to heal so your time mage spells for haste and float are going to be second. Its just that having the magic oriented roles spread apart makes it more efficient so that one character can focus on one thing while the others take the other roles to quickly buff each other up.
yeah Im in the end game now and it has been somewhat of an issue, but Im getting through it
You will be fine. Just keep an eye out when you need to actually do something.
If you WANT to use every job you are allowed to. But in my opinion, Machinist, Foebreakers, and Uhlan are weaker than other classes, both stat wise and via their interactions with Espers on their boards.
Take this set up I ran with:
1) RBM/SHK Zalera, Cuch,
2) BM/KN Mateus,
3) KN/BUS Belias, Exodus, Hashmal
4) ARC/UHL Shemhazai, Famfrit
5) WM/BM
6) MON/TBM Androm, Zeromus, Chaos, Ultima, Zodiark
This set up allows me to run a DPS, a Tank and a Support at all times. Because the Espers effect these characters (even in mid game) in a way that lets several of these characters act as other types (Tanks can run DPS with certain equipment, Support can run Tank after bridging to HP Nodes and acquire armor, etc.), and it runs AMAZING. I have also done several challenges with all characters running a common class. For example, I ran a game where everyone had to have Black Mage as a class. Either first or second. That was probably the most fun playthrough I ever had, due to the obscene amount of AoE possible by keeping gambits set to spam Oil and fire spells. This still allowed me to run DPS, Tank and Support as well, because I could multi class in a way that afforded me the armor and HP nodes I needed to do so. The downside of this is that some classes are forced to run with only 2, or, in some cases 1 swiftness nodes. That's always unfortunate. But I noticed you did that yourself in your own classes (WM/BM will never acquire all 3 Swiftness nodes, and I'd argue that you would absolutely NEED your WM to be acting as soon as possible ALL THE TIME).
All and all I give this set up about a 5.5/10. It isn't bad work by any means, but some of your class pairings are going to cause more work than contribute depending on which teammates they run with.
what espers do you use for each character???
There isn't a really a preference of what esper to use for specific characters as the espers don't really do anything other than unlocking abilities for specific jobs. So, you just need to make sure which esper will be better for your characters base on the jobs you have chosen for your them. You can still give any esper to any character but due to certain abilities being locked away by espers it is recommended to give them to the ones whose abilities are locked away.
@@nozomu10 yeah that's what I meant.. I just didnt know with ur gambit set up if i had to use a certain esper.. i can use my old setup but with the job changes its hard for me to adapt
@@LionProductionsHD Yea with my gambit set up, it doesn't really matter with the esper choices. As long as you set up your gambits well, you will be fine for the most part.
@@nozomu10 yeah I uh.. copied your gambits lol I just don't like decoy prefer bubble.. everyone can get bubble or no?
@@LionProductionsHD No not every one will be able to get the skill so you will have to have someone who will put on the buff unless you have the bubble accessories available or gave everyone the same class to use the skill.
Im at.mateus. need a good.gambit for Penelo on healing. Btw im ps2 version
Curing at 70 percent is instant MP loss.
Got stuck at Giruvegan. Hate when the difficulty just ramps up midway through a dungeon. Takes me completely out of the story when I have to go out and grind gil/levels to buy gambits (why the fuck do I have to BUY them) just to progress.
The system is so convoluted and complex for no reason too.
They're so cheap. What have you even been spending your money on? I've got over half of them with 6 hours playtime on this playthrough. If you don't see a gambit's value, that's on you. The game gives you way more than you need to progress.
wow so messy explanation
This is so scatter-brained, so much stuttering... thanks for the effort, but no thanks.
