Jose Padilla is a very respected director who made some gritty crime/police dramas in his native country. He wanted to make this film a dark, grounded film with something to say, but the studio wanted Batman in a robot suit. Sad really.

Solid review cap. The one thing I remember about this movie is the damn heart and hand.. like really, you guys worked hard enough to save his heart.. ok.. I get it... BUT HIS HAND?!?!

RoboCop was supposed to be a PR stunt; and the public wanted to make sure that there was a human behind that metal. The hand was to give handshakes, and bridge man & machine. It was supposed to be shown in that ceremony scene

I actually DO see the entire trilogy as one whole piece that documents the trajectory of Murphy finding his humanity in the first film...then paying the price for finding it by being threatened to be consumed by OCP in the second...and then finally coming to terms with what he's become as a new entity and choosing to willingly oppose OCP and become the people's champion in the third. I think the bedrock elements in order to get to that read of the films are there, but admittedly they might have buried the lead beneath "schlock" in a way the first one didn't.
But from my point of view, the first film has this fascinating trajectory Murphy travels and then the two sequels have sort of bookend trajectories for him...so the first one goes "man to machine to man"...then the second goes "man to machine" but there's an acknowledgement of the man portion at the end...and the third finally goes "machine to man" but there's an acceptance of the machine portion at the end of that one, if that all makes sense in those simplified terms. This is also represented by his enemies in each film.
Ultimately it's left up to your take on them when you do get to the sequels, but people will be quick to dissuade based on their reputation..."3" in particular...and while it's somewhat fair, I do believe there's merit to be found in them.

This movie makes the Amazing Spider-Man look positively inspired by comparison.

This movie is like a lame magic trick done by an inept magician. It tries to trick you into thinking it's doing something clever, but isn't smart enough to pull off the subterfuge. At the end is stands there smiling, but you can clearly see that the trick wasn't pulled off well.

This movie reminds me when they remade Death Race which was also a satire but they went the boring and simple dumb action movie for the remake

I Robocop there was okey. It hade a rather high rofile cast. But the story was too child friendly and also quite silly. It was a 5 out of 10 movie.

Aw Robocop 2014 one of the most pointless and least interesting remakes I’ve think I’ve seen

There’s absolutely nothing remarkable about this disaster of a remake. The fact that this even exists is a black mark against the cinema landscape and fiction itself.
Screw this movie and it’s fans.
