Whereabouts are you going in Texas? We made an airbnb reservation nearby Lake Fork!
Lake Fork is a great place to be for the eclipse! We're going to be in Marble Falls, a little bit west of Austin. Also at an Airbnb. Duration of Totality will be about the same for both of us.

Instead of buying a solar filter sheet, can i use the filter from my spare eclipse glasses?

Is there a way to make this without buying anything? I'm short on cash and the eclipse is too soon to buy a thing. I do have eclipse glasses, but I only have two pairs and I don't want to remove their filters so I can see.
In that case, you should try to hold your eclipse glasses to your phone's camera when you take pictures. Maybe use some tape that you can remove easily without tearing the cardboard.
Can you use regular mylar?
Only if they are rated for solar photography/observing. I know it's less risky with phone cameras but still better to be safe imo.
