I watched and loved both versions. Epic! 40+ portages, Yikes!! At age 73 the ability to do that is in the far distant past. I am so glad to have fellas like you to keep those old memories alive. Thank you!
Don't sell yourself short, man! I'm 76 and did 3 trips last year each for 3 days with portages between 100m and 650m, soloing. Nothing this year yet because I went to South America to the Amazon and Galapagos Islands.

Back in the 80’s I went to Northland college (Ashland, wisco) and canoed Lake Superior. Later worked in a Wisconsin boys camp and we canoed up in Canada. All that said….Now I am permanently disabled and I can’t even walk out of my house without crippling pain. So watching your videos which bring back great memories. Those memories are some of the best I ever had. Now you guys get to do it and I am just along for the ride. Love it!
@@LostLakes thanks! Btw, it’s been 30+ years since I have been canoeing probably pretty close to where you guys are in this video. omg Xander the Xpander, with his sausage lips !! funniest thing ever. Well done John for looking after him as showing genuine concern. But still, so funny.
So grateful for this vid. I really needed it to calm my mind. Having a total shoulder replacement Aug 12 and at 72, I’m a bit nervous. Watching the serenity of the lakes even with Xander’s antics has done the trick! I love watching your adventures. ❤
Johntario and Xander ... You both are so very very lucky to enjoy each other's company out there exploring the Canadian Wilderness via canoes .. Thank you's both for yr filming and entertainment...
What a great way to spend an evening: watching another wonderfully produced outdoor experience. What a great place. You two are a great team. You make a wonderful (wilderness) couple. If ever it doesn't work out with Erin .... just saying ! When you explained the wonderful smells on the portage, the pines, labrador tea, etc., I can just imagine. The only thing missing was the disclaimer. "unless you're following closely behind Xander". That was a wonderful paddling demonstration by Xander at around 16:00 minutes - made me think, "Bill Mason ... on acid." Thanks boys ... until the next time.
