Ronnie was actually very nervous in doing "My Maria" Ironically,because he was worried he couldn't hit that high note.

It's ironic if you think about it how in lyric content it's really a sad song, and certainly not one you would want to live for sure, but the musical arrangement and style of this song has such a honky tonk edge to it like only Brooks & Dunn songs do that if you don't really give the lyric content any or very much observance you won't really notice it's actually a sad song.
Shawn Camp wrote a great song. And Brooks & Dunn did it perfect justice.

The music video was directed by Steven Goldmann, and premiered on CMT's "Delivery Room" on June 27, 1998. It began with a woman running out of the house. Then, the duo are seen performing at the house, with everything rotting, clocks turning, and calendar pages flipping. At the end, the duo fades out, and the house is full of rot, and the flipping calendar pages are gone.
Reminds of the summer of 1998 when Mark McGwire and Sammy Sosa were challenging each other for the home run record and this song being played on the radio around that time. Great times......

If you notice, all their songs are g rated, it’s amazing how many great hits they have, and there is still no cussing or sexual innuendos. It’s no surprise that they probably the country music act
A few of their songs have lyrics or lines that suggest having a little bedroom fun,such as "yeah,we'll have a few and get to feelin' right" from "Little Miss Honky Tonk"-have a few,you know😂 "My Next Broken Heart" could be about the narrator getting close with some woman,ultimately resulting in a one-night stand which more often than not ends in heartache after the fact,following the one who broke his heart before. "She's Not The Cheatin' Kind" seems pretty sexually charged. But I'm not trying to argue your point though,you are right in that they are not like the bro country movement(🤮,😂)of today where they basically animalise sexuality and it has no emotional connection or deeper drive than just carnal satisfaction.

Fantastic. Sooooo good. The best combination of music and lyrics ever. While not an ingenious composition, it's one of those musical masterpieces that just fell into place. Sorry if I'm not giving the song writers a lot of flattery, but sometimes the biggest hits are accidental masterpieces. Such is the nature of art. (I could be totally wrong and the people involved may have slaved over a hot recording studio stove for weeks, sorry if that's the case. You made it look easy!)

I hear them on SiriusXM Prime Country, describing how the video was shot; they were in a spinning pedestal and it was filmed at 2x speed (or something like that), so they had to sing fast to get the right effect. Amazing, for its time.
