    I would like Hannah to make a video on how she interviews and chooses adopters for her foster kittens. And what she does if she doesn’t feel comfortable with a particular adopter.

    Take a video of kitten. Watch video. Pause video of kitten. Take screen shot. Bam picture of a kitten.
    I have to do this with my cats because both of them are black and whenever I take a normal picture of them, they either look away or have their eyes closed. So then they just look like giant fluff balls with no distinct features other than their ears or tail.

      My cat is a tuxedo with 43% white on her mainly in her torso and neck but she has a milk-stash look. She has crack eyes so when I take a photo of her I only see a thin line of the colour of her eyes.

    I rescued a kitten some days ago. he is an awesome black cat and had been living in the street for a while, he is barely 3 months old. Black cats are the most difficult ones to give up for adoption so I am going to do my very best to take the most awesome pictures ever so I can find him a home. Wish Andrew could come to Colombia, South America and help me out! this is nerve racking... wish me luck!

    Kitten lady, I have gotten SOOOO much valuable information from your videos! Thank, thank you, thank you!! For almond 2 years now, I have been fostering kittens for the ASPCA and I find it extremely rewarding! It’s hard work sometimes, especially when the kitties get diarrhea, but I get over it.
    I have a 64 dollar question for you: What is it about cats and plastic??!!! Plastic bags, plastic wrap, plastic anything!!! I don’t get!! I can have a bag of potting soil sitting on my kitchen floor and in no time flat, the cats will have chewed up the ends!! It’s maddening!!
    Got any suggestions other than getting anything plastic out of their reach?!

    I hadn't really thought about pictures being so important, but it's so true! When I was looking at adopting a kitten from a shelter at the beginning of last year, I absolutely fell in love with one of the kittens because he had such a beautiful photo - clean, bright, staring right at the camera with gorgeous eyes (it's still the background picture on my phone). As shallow as it sounds, I probably wouldn't have picked him if it wasn't for that photo, but he's now two years old and he has a forever home with me! A kitten is so much more than a photo, however the photo is what makes people stop and take interest in that particular animal in the first place so I love these tips!

    I'd like to see a video on the art of cropping a photo. I know sort of about the rule of thirds, but I would love any more tips if you have them. (I know this video is old and you probably won't see this comment).

    • @rainbeep
      @rainbeep 7 лет назад +8

      littlekitties87 hi!! im not them but like Andrew said, either keep the kitten in the middle of the photo or off to one side. imagine a tick tack toe board. you want the kitten ideally in the middle most square, or on one of the vertical cross hairs. i was always taught to give a photo subject room to move. if th e kitten was going to move, what direction would it go? put the extra space there.

    • @pixelfox9666
      @pixelfox9666 6 лет назад +3

      Getting involved a year later! I'm not them either, but I love taking photos with my phone, and I've done a ton of art classes in the past (including a few on cell phone photography). The rule of thirds is more for creating drama in artistic shots. You're not trying to fill a gallery, you're trying to show the cat. Too artsy photos can actually hurt your chances of adoption because potential adopters will be more focused on the photo itself than on the cat in the photo. Like trying to sell a home by having an oil painting made of the front of the house. Just take a nice, crisp photo with the cat in the center, and crop it so that there's a little bit of a buffer around the cat at the edges. Absolutely play with contrast and warmth and other editing tools like those, but be careful to not cross that "artsy" line; for example, what's currently in style is overexposed photos that look washed out and really bright, and while that's great for your Instagram selfies, it's not so great for the kitten you're trying to adopt out. If you can't tell what color the cat is in real life, or have lost some of the cat's markings, you've gone too far, lol. If you have an iPhone that's a 7 or later, I'd definitely use portrait mode; it blurs the background just a little, which really makes the subject of the portrait pop.
