I like that you brought up that being in debt scares you. Don't let having the American college experience lead you into debt. I feel like it is fun at first but then when you are in debt, you are going to regret it so much. I hope that when you picked the University you chose, you prioritized saving money. Feeling like you don't want to be left out of the college experience most people go for is not worth the debt in my opinion.
I am finishing up my second year at my community college with an AA degree in General Studies and am transferring this Fall to a university that is closest to where I live to earn my BA degree in what I plan to major in. For anyone who is struggling to decide on where to go after high school, I REALLY recommend attending a local or community college that connects you directly to a university that guarantees you admission (as long as you earn an AA degree). It saves you a lot of money, and it gives you time to think about what you want to major in as you study general courses. Also, if any of you are worried about graduating from university later than your friends, it really does not matter. School is not a race and you can take as much time as you want studying and discovering yourself.

remember, if youre low income you can get application waivers. and for most colleges they accept something called the Common App. its one application u can send out to multiple colleges so you dont have to fill out a whole bunch of applications. Start applying for scholarships now too. they will help even if theyre just a couple thousand dollars.
sorry, also. the common app will also save you a butt ton of money when u only have to pay for one, ya get me? also. Dont be scared to take out loans when ur in college. not for ur pre recs but for ur junior and senior years. no one gets through life without debt. and as long as youre doing something u love, it shouldnt be much of a cost to take out a loan

Seriously good for you for realizing now that debt is scary and can be a huge burden that you would have to bear in the future. It's also great that other teens can watch your video and contemplate whether that 30-60k per year college is actually worth it for them in the long run. Good luck at college!
coming from a senior in college, omg I'm glad you chose the college with cheaper tuition. Also yeah in high school you always think you'll want to go to another city but you start to miss your family a lot in college esp if you go far away
I go to a small school and don’t regret a thing! It allows you to grow closer to your professors and peers (which may sounds weird now but read this in a year and you’ll understand!) I’m sure you’ll thrive and that you made a good decision !
Chelsane if you’re really into learning more then it’s so much more worth your money to learn in smaller group settings where you’re able to actually participate! I’m glad I’m not the only one.

i think you’ll love attending a small school! it gives you such a good chance to actually have relationships with your professors and to fully understand your major. your peers will become like a family to you, and you’ll be fully endorsed in a unique culture!

I started my freshman year of college at The University of North Alabama last fall and it’s one of the smaller universities in the state but I’ve loved it so far! I joined a sorority and it’s honestly been the most fun part of college. I wish you well in starting school in the fall❤️
i applied to 12 schools and ended up spending over 1k on JUST applications like oh my god my biggest personal tip is to KNOW what schools you can get into (2-3) & KNOW your dream school (1-2) and applying to more than 6 schools is not necessary at all unless a majority of them are iffy if you’ll get in or not

Honestly so confused cause from the UK so totally different system! I get to specialise in performing arts (on their own no other subjects!!) from next academic year (age 16) so don't have to worry about my overall academics affecting each other like in your school system... Congratulations on getting into the colleges you wanted🎉❤️

people applied to so many colleges from my school mostly bc of waivers that we were all eligible for. so our counselors basically hooked us up with waivers; so we didn’t have to pay any application fees nor did we have to pay for getting and taking tests + getting them shipped. basically, the only thing i had to pay for was my tuition deposit, it was pretty nice! so advice!!!! ask your counselors if there are any waivers for application fees for college! i know naviance and collegeboard hand out waivers for those who qualify for free lunch so please! save yourselves money when it comes so application fees and sending scores!

also!! hate the fact that you have to pay so much for applications but I ended up applying to like 18 universities (crazy i know) but i didn’t end up paying for a lot of it by signing up for college mailing lists from different college fairs and that saved me a lot of money!! also, if you are planning on applying to CSUs instead of sending SAT score reports to each individual school, they can provide you with a code to the main office of all the CSUs so you can save some money since SAT score reports are literally like $12 per college/uni!!

i recommend to a lot of people to try out the ACT alongside with the SAT! i did so much better on the ACT than the SAT; my scores kept going up every time i took it whereas with the SAT, even if i had studied or whatever, my scores would be alll over the place
before I moved from san antonio, I was going to go to Texas State or utsa!! you’ll be close enough to have a college experience and ultimately, sometimes it’s not for everyone once they experience it. I’m excited for you and your college journey!!
idk if ud be into it but could you do a video on how you studied for the sat? im an upcoming senior and i took the sat for the first time in march and didnt do too well on the reading. im rlly unsure on how im meant to better my understanding/analysis for the section, and as for the writing im a little bit better at but i still need to work on it. u said english wasnt ur thing but u improved by a lot so if u could do a vid (or even just reply to this!) on ur studying method and how u improved ur score i would rlly appreciate it!!! also congrats ure super duper smart girl :’)

Oh goodness i took the SAT back when the max score was a 2400 (i’m a senior in college now) so i was about to say dang those scores 😶 but then I remembered its out of 1600 now so you did really good!! also those people most likely got fee waivers for sending their scores and application fee waivers

PSA: a lot of students can get fee waivers for applications for college and can sometimes send their scores to their schools for free, if they or their school qualify financially!! so make sure to check if you qualify to save some $$ :))

Early Decision binds you to a school, meaning if you get accepted to that school, you HAVE to go unless there are financial reasons you can’t go. You can only apply to ONE school through ED, (your top school). I think she meant that she applied to all these schools early Action. Early Action doesn’t bind you to a school, meaning if you get in, you don’t have to go. So you can apply to multiple schools through early Action.
