  • This is a zinc model impact sprinkler. This one is well made visually and even feels pretty good. It is powered coated to protect it I am sure. The design of the body is a little different than the other zinc models that I showed. The Arm is a little different too. It has like two gouges in the PJ part of the arm and not sure what benefit that is supposed to provide. It has a solid feel and it appears pretty solid on the stand in the test. I was initially impressed by the outside look, but the performance on this model was for me disappointing. It worked and steady. It has that look of a Rain Bird 25 DAPJ design, but it did only one thing better. The water from the PJ arm shot out to the right about 10-20 degrees, much less than most other Zinc PJ models and the Rain Bird and Orbit brass models. One thing for sure, good looks does not make for a good sprinkler. If you did not get the message before, DO NOT BUY a zinc impact sprinkler.
One thing I showed in this video how to retrieve a spring from the arm, that for whatever reason cannot be removed because of the Fulcrum Pin. Since the demonstration model is broken as a result of trying to remove that fulcrum pin, I show how simple it is to remove that spring to be used for replacement on other sprinklers. I think you will like the unusual technique, as I roll it out above the top of the body.

A pretty good impact, it gets the job done. I wonder how long it would take for the arm to get excessive play in it. They need to press in a brass sleeve in the arm for the fulcrum pin. The gouges in the PJ bend could be to help disperse the spray to take advantage of it for close-in coverage.

The zinc sprinklers that I have which is a bunch that are worn out, which was the way I got them. There appears to be a part of a plastic sleeve in there, but it is the zinc that gets worn out from the movement. I agree that a brass sleeve in the arm shaft would help the arm from wearing out like it does. I have a bunch of different designs that I have paid good money for and the result is the same. Zinc designs are for me do not buy recommendation. They do serve their place and get the job done, but for how long is the great question.
