@gothpunkboy89 that's just straight up Wrong, tho. The game pretty much NEVER hits 60fps on series x and ps5. Even on pc, with a 3080 ti and 5800X3D, I can't maintain anywhere close to a locked 120fps at 1080p when roaming the open world, and the stuttering is ridiculously bad. Particle effects are highly unoptomized as well, tanking my framerate and GPU usage when poison mist, fire, or anything else with heavy Particle effects (perfumers, poison plants, magic plants, dragon breath attacks, etc...) it's awful and still hasn't been fixed, and most likely never will, even when the DLC drops

I was dropping into 40's even in the open world now I'm about double that with much better frametimes and more consistent performance in major cities. • @SamLombardo74
    @SamLombardo74 3 месяца назад +1

For people with 4090 or 4080: Try the Quality Raytracing mod. Improves ray tracing to full resolution (vanilla it is factor 0.4). It helps the "image stability" and image quality significantly, most of the flickering and smearing is gone. Together with the Better Water mod, most of my criticisms from the beginning have now been resolved or at least noticeably improved. The game now looks really good. Another advantage: Since the GPU load is now often at 100 percent even in the cities (always well over 90), this also helps the frame time enormously, it is now a fairly smooth line and feels noticeably better than even after the patch. Disadvantage: Of course, it costs a lot of performance, which is probably why I suggest the mod for RTX 4080 and above. With the 4090 I now have at 4K, TAA with Frame Generation (a must) in the cities around 70 fps and outside 90-95 (without FG cities 50 outside 60). I do not use DLSS here because it is blurry. But the performance hit is more than worth it. Try it out.
By the way, with the ray tracing mod, VRAM consumption increases to up to 16GB (previously around 13).

It's not just PC, there are major performance issues on PS5. I've had my PS5 for almost two years, and Dragon's Dogma 2 is the first game that has ever actually crashed the console. I'm not talking about a screen freeze or blue screen error message, it hard crashes the PS5 to the point where the power suddenly cuts off and I have to reboot the console. Searching online this is a very common problem players are having with this game and ONLY this game. And yes, I've completely and thoroughly cleaned out any dust from my PS5, but the hard-crashing starts after I play DD2 for any extended period of more than a couple hours. Once it starts, it will not stop unless I cease playing DD2 for many hours. In the meantime, all other games I've tried on my PS5 work perfectly as normal. At this point I'm legitimately worried that continued play of DD2 is could potentially damage my PS5, if it hasn't already. What a pile of hot garbage from Crapcom.

Honestly, I have known you guys are way more sensitive to frame-times than I tend to be and this release has made that really clear, because the most egregious thing about this game for me personally, by far, is the poor DLSS implementation with no properly functioning frame-gen(FG causes freezing for my rig unless I cap it to 60fps, which is not a good experience with AI frames), and the weird 'jitter'/'noise' that kind of happens in foliage(I think because of TAA). The foliage looks great, but it just starts having crazy conniption fits. I asked my buddy who has a 3080 & he experiences the same thing(I'm using a 4070).
The DLSS quality has a pretty poor resolve compared to what you see in most games these days. It just looks fuzzy. The last year or so I've been using DLSS where it is available in most games and have no issue with the crispness of the resolve, but this is just... It kind of makes 1440p look

I literally won't play a game which stutters. Traversal stutters in 2024 are pathetic. Maybe in 2008, it was mildly accepted in SOME games, but by 2014 - A DECADE AGO, I'd stopped playing ANY GAME which stuttered. And 2024? TWENTY TWENTY FOUR? No.
Tell devs to ask AI how to remove stutters, if they're unable to accept the date is 2024 and solve it themselves. Hardware is not the issue. Despite being shit for the date as aswell.

@@tjl1007 Those who say "it's not real performance" want to argue that real performance means lower input latency as well as an fps jump, but when you turn on both Nvidia Reflex and Frame Generation you double your framerate, and your input latency is a lot lower than what originally had, so what the hell happened there then?
It's a bad argument. Like what is a "fake frame"? Every frame is fake. The game makes those. The only difference is Frame Generation uses AI.
AI generated frames look pretty much the same as the real ones, sometimes better because you may not be getting an artifact in a "fake" one, you but may be getting one in a "real" one, either because of TAA, motion blur or ray tracing. It happens, but to pretend that Frame Generation is something different to higher performance just because the technology itself doesn't lower your input latency is a bit too much. Like, at the end of the day, the game runs much better with the mod. It's day and night.

*"pretty good CPU utilization spread there..."*
??? BUT... the same software thread of code can jump between cores otherwise you'd see a single core at 100% showing where your CPU bottleneck is. It can actually be PREFERABLE to see a single core be fully utilized and have consistent access to the same CACHE etc... so I honestly don't quite understand why people think the load being "spread across the CPU's cores" is necessarily a good thing. You are seeing an AVERAGE here as well as in Task Manager. You could have a completely SINGLE-THREADED program jump between a 4c/4t CPU and show 25% CPU utilization of each core rather than 100% of a single core. That doesn't mean it's ideal.

    Pros:

Access to Playstation (delayed), Xbox, and third-party titles, as well as roms
Longer relevance (don't need to upgrade as frequently as console)
    Cons:

    Regular poorly optimized PC ports.
Setup and install takes some effort
Likely to have install setup issues at some point
    *Series X*
    Pros:
    Relatively cheaper than PC
    Very convenient. No setup issues
    Cons:
    Lower res lower performance.
Pay to play online except free to play games.
Need to buy a console every generation.

6:38 wasn't that the conclusion you gave for console performance in the original video? I thought that was the case. For those who don't know: he took that clip from another video. I know it can apply to PC, but I wouldn't say I would stop playing because "oops! a drop to the 50s for a second there! I can't belive this". Like, you said that after showing the drops Xbox had to the 20s. That ran better than PS5 btw.
This is the full context of the clip. Alex said: "If you run the same sequence on the Xbox Series X, it also runs very poorly with bad frametimes. The avarage performance was 10% worst than that which I found on the Ryzen 5 3600. The Xbox is not going to be running max settings here, of course, but I'm just showing this Xbox footage to you here to prove that you can get quite better results on PC, as long as you have a more modern Ryzen or Intel chip, so city performance here is going to be very controversial, and I think many people might just stop playing the game as soon as they get to this area, as it's kind of...", and you can hear the rest in this video.
So yeah, I thought you were talking about Xbox or very low-end CPUs. Not even the Ryzen 3600, which is low-end, is having the drops you're getting on Xbox or PS5. Those were in the low 20s.

The game has a poor NPC draw distance caused by the CPU bottleneck and the game's bad optimization, a lot of drops to 20 FPS on cities and won't go past 40 FPS at any moment, so you'll get Screen-Tearing even with VRR because consoles only support when the game runs at 48 FPS or higher. Yeah, "no problems". You're either blind or you have been playing very bad performing games like Star Wars: Jedi Survivor or Gotham Knights.
