I know Mick Foley and used to go to the shows with him and hang out in the back with the boys. I met Dan and Ken. Dan was a super nice guy as was Ken. Both were down to earth and actually interacted with people when they met them. My ex asked Ken a horrible question. She asked if he was glad to be in fake fighting compared to the real thing. I cringed, but he was nice and said the same thing Dan said. He said he has been injured from wrestling much worse that when fighting. Keep in mind our friend is Mick Foley!!! I had to tell her to never say fake again!

Hannibal, your interview skills are the best. You ask the right questions at the right time. What’s best is you’re always prepared snd most important, you know when to talk and when to listen! You let them tell the story and guid them with the best questions. Thank you so much! You do the best shoot interviews on RUclips, period.
I hope you’re doing well and you’re family as well. God bless. I’d love to see you in the WWE or AEW. They need a lot more big men like you.

I met Dan at a wrestling show he put on at a country western night club along with Butch Reed and King Mable. After the show he signed autographs and took pictures with fans. Could not have been a nicer guy.
He was selling photos of himself to autograph.
I couldn't afford to buy a photo but he still gave me an autograph for free.
    Thanks Dan!

I met Dan Severn at the Arnold Classic back in 2001. He had a table set up, but not a lot of people coming to see him. Of course, this was pre-TUF and the UFC had not yet exploded onto the public mainstream. We sat and chatted for about half an hour, before a few other people who recognised him stopped at his table. Honestly, one of the nicest, most down-to-earth people you could ever meet. And like in this interview, he was very articulate and well-spoken. A legend in the ring / cage, and a class act outside of it.

  • @achillesculaj95

This guy is so clearheaded it's crazy, especially for a fighter. It seems like he can recall anything and any fact from his life from the last 40+ years, his work from industries like amateur wrestling, pro wrestling, and cagefighting, some of the most brutal industries out there.

When Mr Severn talks about UFC 1 . It brought back my memories of thinking that if I had known that it would have taken off like it has .. I’d like to think that I’d be in one of these interviews..
I also remember that back then . You had to fight at least 3 times that night. And it didn’t matter how much you were out weighed, what your discipline was .. it was just like getting into a street fight nearly fighting for your life lol but that rear naked choke .. I hated that.. but if you can get on your opponent , you’ve got them.

For anyone that is not familiar with old UFC, you really have to understand how impressive Dan Severn’s first UFC was, put it this way. He went in with less than no cage knowledge, trained in a pro wrestling ring, and went in a tournament full of strikers...then killed all of them, then dominated a two time champ, and only lost because he knew nothing about submissions. This is an absolute monster right here.

GREAT INTERVIEW!! Among my favourite shoot interviews. His comments about a WWE Road Agent trying to get him to use a Bonehead Gimmick sums up what Jim Cornette said about the idiots WWE had writing tv from the attitude era (cough cough Vince Russo & Kevin Hart). Dan Severn could back up the claims he made and if he turned it into a shoot the only guy with a chance would have been Shamrock or Steve Blackman, Not even Bret Hart would be able to get him out and he was legitimately one of the toughest and best pure wrestlers in WWE.
Stupid idea by WWE to try to change him.
