I am sooo happy you talked about cleaning the scalp because we still have people who think leaving their hair & scalp for months at a time without shampooing is growing their hair which isn’t true
Thank you for your great tips. I'm almost 2 months into my sisterlock journey. I'm enjoying it so far. I've really been enjoying all your content you've posted. Please keep it coming! 😀
Yay! I’m so excited for your journey! Enjoy every moment of it(: Thank you for the feedback. I’ve been enjoying making the videos, so I’m glad people are connecting with the content.
I know what you mean about shrinkage. I have been locked 18 months and my hair has stretched out. I started with 3 to 4 inches and now I am about shoulder length except in the front and top. Your tips are so helpful and I am going to use them. Thanks for sharing!
Not beautiful if your hair is down to your butt crack or not, I died when you said that not once, but TWICE😂. You are so beautiful, your smile reminds me of my sister. Your video is very informative. I'm a year in with my journey and the back is locking and shrinking. I was a bit surprised by that and your explanation cleared things up. Also, I tend to do braid-outs on the front because it's shorter than the back, however the back is locking quicker. I'm going to take a break from the braid-outs and see what happens. Thanks for this video!
😂😂😂I didn’t even remember saying that lol!!! Thank you for watching my video and thank you so much for your compliments. It’s always nice hearing that I remind others of people they love. I’m also glad this video was informative. Length will come (: try to just do twist outs and braid outs on special occasions until it locks up fully. Tomorrow I will be posting a video of my twistout technique. I find that when I do my twist outs this way they last longer. You may want to check it out, so you can get more bang for your buck when it comes to your twist outs.
I am 10 years in and my length is 30 inches. No breakage, just beautiful long healthy sister locks 1. I am very stringent about retightening ie every 4 weeks, no exception. 2. Leave the locks alone, don’t be playing in the hair 3. Eat healthy nutritious food, no sugar 4. Reduce stress 5. Supplements are important, general supplements 6. oil scalp sparingly, it’s really unnecessary if you are eating clean 6 enjoy the process
Just wait on it ! Length is coming :) Also, make sure to take pictures, sometimes I think that my hair is not growing, and I will go back and look at old pictures to remind myself of how far I have come.
Loving your videos, this is informative 💖 I'm here to stay 💁🏾♀️ Yes, I'm at the 0-6month mark... I'm so unsure, sometimes it looks longer, sometimes super shrunken 🤷🏾♀️
I’m glad you’re here! I love hearing about how others journeys are going it. Your hair is growing, but shrinkage is DEFINITELY a Karen lol. It just shows up to mess with your day for no reason at all lol. In no time your hair will fully loc, and you’ll see your growth (:
No one told me about the shrinkage, my sister was like "Did you cut your hair?" 😭😂 I didn't even notice till she asked, lol, I was shook, it was *shorter* than what it was when I had first gotten locs! (side note: you just said that in the video 😅 I'm watching while typing) I can't do high buns like I could at first. I don't know when it will finally loc though, it will be a year next month and like 90% of my ends are still loose. Will my locs hit the mature stage with loose ends?
Girl I had that same issue with buns! When it comes to being fully locd it depends on your hair type. If 90% of your ends are still loose, you probably still have some time before you fully loc. Also your hair can loc slightly above the end. I have some locs like that. They are fully locd, but the tip is still loose, but you can feel a small knot slightly above the loose ends.
I hit a year this month and a lot of my ends aren’t locked. my consultant said that bc of my hair type I probably won’t lock at my ends, and a lot of ladies like the loose ends. It doesn’t make me a difference one way or another. I can tell the rest of my strand is locked though.
Yeah, I'm at the 1 year mark as well and I kept about 2 inches of my ends loose so I'm curious what being fully locked will look like for me with loose ends. I should always have some shrinkage due to my coily ends.
Kelly A Same here. The coily ends make me a little nervous, like my hair may start unraveling one day but my consultant assured me it wont happen. I just started banding at night to help combat some of the shrinkage.

Thanks for your comment =) No, I do not just leave shampoo on my head. When I am just doing a scalp cleanse, I apply the shampoo directly to my scalp and rinse it from my hair without focusing on washing the rest of my hair.
Everyones locs are different. Mine were not fully locked at 6 months. I had about half of my locs that were fully locked and half were still budding. I was able to stop braiding and banding around 6 months though.
Aw man 😩! I feel your pain Sis. I just posted a video with loc extensions! Maybe you could play with those while you wait for your locs to mature and show your true length.
I’ll be 4 months in the 2nd of next month. However I do styles (space buns, half up and down, buns, etc) almost everyday. Will that prevent my hair looking faster? - any styles that I can do that won’t hinder my journey.
Kyra Thompson my loctician told me that anything that is stretching out the hair would prevent it from locking. Once I stopped wearing styles that were stretching out my hair my hair started locking up super fast. I think half up half downs are fairly low manipulation and will not prevent your hair from locking. Try to not pull your pony very tight. Loose buns could be low manipulation. Also try hair accessories- headbands, clips, and scarfs are fun ways to change things up , while still allowing your hair to do what it wants to do. Thanks for your comment (: I hope this was helpful.
@@Niaimani92 would loose braidouts also prevent my 4 month old locs from locking? And if so, is it possible to limit it to doing one braid out per week or should I just forget it altogether if I want my hair to lock quicky?

Thank you (: yeah it’s so untrue, and it’s not hygienic at all.

Hi! What size locs did you end to getting?
Joy Morris Beauty I told my loctician I wanted standard size Sisterlocks, or maybe even a tad bit larger than the standard size.
Still Nia Bia ok that's good to know. Thank you!
