    Hey Im also a sister that has under 400 locks and I love mine! I just hit the 9 month mark. They will thicken, they will get longer...just get ready 🤗 Yes having 4b/4c does give them a highly textured look which is soooo beautiful in my opinion. I might as well walk around with a mirror strapped to the back of my hand bc I stay in a mirror every chance I get lol lol. Your hair is absolutely gorgeous

      Thank you!! 🧡 hearing that even with fewer than 400 locs, the locs will still thicken up and be nice and full is so encouraging! 😊
      I hope my locs keep this textured look forever. When did your locs start to thicken up?

      AmbyrEssence around 4 months but it was really apparent at month 6. thats when I started seeing thickness and some length.

    I love your Sisterlocks!! I love the shape also. I am a Sisterlock practitioner and natural hair stylist of over 11 years and I would highly suggest waiting for your locs to completely settle before trimming or dying them (if you choose to) but of course consult with your Sisterlock practitioner. I’m so happy to be a new Subscriber!!!♥️

    For moisture: wash your locs once per week. Use lightweight oils in moderation on your scalp. Spritz daily with rose water.

    • @ambyressence
      @ambyressence  4 года назад +2

      Jan-K Mah thank you ❤️😊 i actually do all of these things already except for applying oil directly onto my scalp.
      Instead I mix oils in with my rose water and spritz it all on my hair together.
      I wonder if my scalp is just excessively dry because of the cold weather. Maybe it’ll get better in the warmer months.

    Check out the The video locktician. She is experienced with all locks and is a certified sisterlock consultant and has sisterlocks herself. She sells products for crunchy dry locks that she allows her newbies to use right after install. Regarding the unevenness, consider a side part and it will look like an intentional asymmetrical bob.

    I agree with the trimming..i am a 4c girl as well and i too have some longer pieces due to the afro as well as some crazy ends! Also i agree with the product thing as well...i never worked with my hair without product so it has been an adjustment, but one i am sure will be worth it.

      Meli_g 365 thank you so much and yayyy!! 😊 I’m so excited for you! You’re going to love the journey. My hair was 12-14 inches at time of establishment. It doesn’t look like it now because my shrinkage is stronggg 😂.. but in my most recent video, I added a photo of my hair pre-establishment! ❤️

    Hi there, thanks for the video! I'd like to ask about:
    1. Sleeping - do you wrap your sisterlocks in a scarf for bed or?
    2. Stretching - is it bad to stretch the hair (eg. for hairstyle updo's) fresh after installing? Should one refrain from such to avoid disrupting the locking process (or the look)?

    • @IAmKimmyM
      @IAmKimmyM 4 года назад +1

      Portia Lujabe wrap in a satin scarf at night. Stretching doesn’t affect the locking process.

      Portia Lujabe these are awesome questions! Thank you!! 😊 I’m working on a Q&A video and will put your questions in there!

    Ok. You locks look beautiful! I will be 2 weeks in on Thursday. What I hate about my locks is: I feel like she could have locked further down. I feel like too much is loose and they get tangled. I also hate the knots at the ends. Am I panicking? Please help! Thanks!

    • @ambyressence
      @ambyressence  4 года назад +2

      Alfredasworld thank you sis! 😊
      It’s hard to say if you’re panicking too much without seeing a picture of your hair; but I will say that it’s normal for some hair to be left out at the end of your locs! And it’s normal for them to tangle/web for the first few weeks. After a while, the ends will shrink/curl up on themselves and tangling won’t be such a problem. That’s exactly what happened to my hair!
      As far as the knots on the end go, I’m not sure I know what you’re describing.
      If you want to send me a picture on my Instagram, I’d love to take a look! 💕

    To fix your length issues you can get your locs trimmed.

    • @ambyressence
      @ambyressence  4 года назад +3

      Jan-K Mah thank you for this comment too! 😊 I can get them trimmed before they settle in? I was worried if I got them trimmed now it might encourage unraveling.

    • @IAmKimmyM
      @IAmKimmyM 4 года назад +1

      a.michelle I doubt there would be much unraveling. Ask your consultant if you can trim your locs now.
