Lol 😂 “if you breathe and you have Sisterlocks, you’ve broken a rule!” Hahaha! Great topic! I think it’s okay to break a few rules, but it also depends what stage you’re in on your lock journey. For example, I wouldn’t encourage the people with “baby locks” to use conditioner. Your hair is mature now so it’s okay. I do believe as your locks get older (and drier) you actually need some kind of conditioning routine. That being said, it’s really important that each person understands their hair texture while their hair is locking before they start breaking the rules and taking risks that could affect their journey.
I agree with quite a few of you opinions and have done several videos on the baby stages of the loc journey, as well as the fact that all of us have different hair =)
Yes please, I would like the names of the loose naturals you mention because I still watch many of them for entertainment and the styling ideas. And I'm glad that you are into trying new products when you feel like it. That helps to keep your content varied, current and interesting! Looking forward to more styling videos. Also, twice a week I do use a leave in conditioner on my 5 month old braidlocs and so far they are loving it!
Thank you for sharing! I still watch natural hair channels and would love to hear those references. I did Marley twists on my hair this past summer. I can’t wait to see you do box braids and twists and such with loc extensions! I used (super duper totally tubular dilute) acv rinse conditioner on my hair last night (okay maybe it’s not a conditioner but it has the consistency of a loose creamy conditioner). I’ve used creamy/opaque shampoos on my hair. I’ve used soft butters on my hair, even though butter is solid at room temperature. I rinse my hair for less than a few minutes after shampooing 🤪
How did your hair like the butters?! I've considered trying some. Also I found naturalista who inspired this video =) Here is her channel ruclips.net/user/MyThriftedCloset
Thank you! My hair enjoys butters! I don’t use a lot. I just melt a little in my hand and put it on the length of my hair after a steamy shower once or twice in between shampoos. I recently made my own butter and included honey after being inspired by Honey Girl Skincare butters, and it helps not just seal moisture but also draw it in 💦🍯 it was fun to make the butter too.
I’m a loose natural so I’d love to know who you are talking about in this video or in the future! 🤍I love loc videos...not sure but I may be fascinated for a reason. I did just find out that my sister wants locs so I have a number of references for her...I’ll send her here too! 🖤she hasn’t done it yet but she wants to in the near future! Great video by the way!
Happy New Year! You can, if you choose. It has great benefits. I have different types depending what my scalp /locs needs. I've used a detox one that has aloe, peppermint, nettle, licorice and fennel in one tea bag. It's one of my favorites. Make sure they're organic(I buy the boxed one for now), steep in distilled or filtered water in a glass jar.
“If you have sisterlocks and breathed, you’ve probably broken a rule.” When I tell you I HOWLED! 🤣🤣🤣🤣 I’m glad I have the experience of having sisterlocks before so that I know what mine survived last time and what I want to do differently this time. Just like they say “youth is wasted on the young,” I think my baby locs were wasted on a 15-year-old Tiffany back in the day.
I put rosewater and a homemade oil mixture on my sisterlocks day 1 and regularly since then sorry not sorry! Oh and I stopped using the sisterlocks shampoo after I ran out and saw what that shop portion of the website looked like. You speak the truth about how if you have sisterlocks then rules have been broken - sure have! 😂
Have you considered using a filler to prevent the bleached ends from showing through? A filler is also good for giving black dyed hair more dimension and warmth by redepositing the undertones that were lost during the bleaching process.
So yes we want to know the Naturals, I too still follow the naturalistas i followed before i got locd. So as far as breaking the rules. There are no rules for me. I do exactly what works for “Sylvia” (my hair). Sylvia tells me exactly what she wants and what she needs. I do what’s best for her and that’s it. By the way i just got my wash day delight in the mail today. I am going to use it my next time i wash. I will let you know what i think.
I'm breaking a rule. 😭 I'm using the suave daily cleanser shampoo to wash my hair. The sisterlocks shampoo dries my scalp and I'm always having a itchy scalp. Any alternatives to the sisterloc shampoo. I'm 4 months loc'd.
Hi =) I struggle with the alternatives question because I did use the sister lock shampoo for awhile in my baby loc stage. I am not a logician, but if I had to recommend a shampoo, it would be the Carol's Daughter Wash Day Delight.
I’ve just began my microlock journey and so many people were telling me I couldn’t use water or oil because I just had it done. But I did anyways , one to style and two to relieve itchy scalp. I think I’m done listening to all the rules, it can be confusing
You can shampoo immediately! Just braid and band (braid your hair loosely with rubber bands on your ends) your hair when you shampoo... Your scalp may also feel better...
I agree. It can be confusing. Something that I believe in is the power of learning from a mistake. I've made so many mistakes with my locs, and have learned more about my locs as a result of making those mistakes. I say be cautious, but definitely get out there and learn your locs =) I hope you enjoy your journey and the learning that comes from figuring it all it out!
I 2nd that, if you have sisterlocs you have broken rules...I have 2 majors that I did early on, I never braided & banded and I would pull my buds off YES I knew better but I didn't like the way they looked. Now, 4.5 yrs in, I still don't b&b but stopped pulling buds gratefully I did not have issues when I did. 😜

Yes! You're breaking ALLLL the rules, and I love it, lol! I totally remember the Bath and Bodyworks' kids line ❤❤❤
That Bath and Body Works kids like was lit lol! I low-key want kid lines to come back.
I am so inspired by your videos ! Please keep them coming! Your energy gives me life!
Thank you so much! Will do!

Hey Nia! I'm 8 months in to my sisterlock journey and I have used oils on my scalp. Lol. Great video as usual
Thank you so much! I think around 8 months I started using light oils too.

I love blue black and jet black hair!!!
I definitely trying the blue black when I am able to become self employed!
I break a lot of rules with my Sisterlocs after 5 years I use whatever works including leave in conditioners. I absolutely love ALLof your videos🥰
Thank you so much ! I really appreciate you taking time out of your day to write me that =)
what product do you use to do dye your hair? I wanna do BURGUNDY but don't know what to buy
I add yaya oil to my scalp once a week. I love it! Love the smell! Breaking all the rules!
You are so right about the smell! It is amazing!
oh my God the example of the person staying in the store and looking stuff up is so me! I never can just go to the store and get one thing! LOL
The STRUGGLE lol !!!
Yep, I use conditioner as well.
Some peoples hair just needs moisture. I am glad you do what's best for your locs without letting others dictate the "rules" to you !
I was using leave ins for a minute. Then started doing tea rinses...changed my life! Great conditioning😉
I want to do a tea rinse so bad! Do you use green tea?

I have never heard that saying before, but oh my goodness do I relate to it!!! Youth is wasted on the young lol!
I love your locs 😍
Thank you so much !
People fail to realize rules differ depending on the individual's head cause what works are Mary might not work for jane...#imakemyownrules
Completely agree! I spoke about this in my video on conditioner.
smiles and grabs glass of wine to sit and watch!
Yassssss!!! Wine tasting video coming soon =)

Hi Sis =) I have no clue what a filler is! I'll have to look into it.
Here's an example, but yeah, research going light to dark with filler ruclips.net/video/WqhMuu1Kxq4/видео.html

Yes you can include the names cause I still watch loose natural RUclipsrs, I might not be loose natural but I am locd natural so some tips still apply
I found the loose naturalista that inspired the video =) Here is the link to her channel ruclips.net/user/MyThriftedCloset
Yes I started my locs 2 weeks ago and I'm breaking rules already 😏
I love a rebel!!! Good luck along your journey !
