    My dad always said “ treat everyone you meet in life like they are bad, or not so good, let them prove to you that they are a good person”, ❤ trust me-I weeded out many 😮

    I agree with the Chief’s methods. I can also see how it can be quite sad - to see the diminished illusions and hope in an Officer’s eyes after years of dealing with the worst of society. Perhaps the videos can serve to inform mental health interventions by the Service. Thank you for bringing this to our attention.

    I had an "event" occur with my newborn and self.
    It touched the attending officers enough that a year later i had a knock on my door.
    I didn't recognize any of the guys but they were the ones who came to the call and one officer rode in the ambulance.
    They wanted to know if i and child survived. Obviously i did but my child didn’t.
    I appreciated their concern but felt terrible that they carried an emotional burden.
    Thank you for what you do

      That goes to prove officers carry crosses no matter how long something occurs. They can be a little too sentimental at times.

    Thank you, Mr. Randy, for your helpful video. 🙏🏼
    Sometimes people make big promises, but not all of them keep them. This happens a lot with police officers. Some start out caring but end up not helping much. They only react when things get really bad. But there are good officers who do their job well, even if no one notices.
    A few days ago, I saw a lady who looked lost and sad near a hotel. She had lots of bags and seemed like she needed help. I called the police, hoping they could do something. They checked on her, but I couldn't find out what happened next.
    Later, I went back to see her and learned her name was Monica. She thought someone was coming to pick her up, but it wasn't true. I tried to help her, but she didn't want much. She needed a safe place to stay.
    Days passed, and Monica was still there. It made me sad because I couldn't do much alone. I wish I could help her more. The police could do something, but so far, nothing has changed. It's getting colder at night, and Monica still needs help. I visited her recently at night and sat with her. I asked why she is still there as she told me she is moving two days ago. She said that they did not give her the key yet. Today her story changed for the key. Last time she told me they are fixing it. I asked her to give those people contact numbers that I could contact with them. She seemed scared and she said don’t be involved with them. She seemed to be threatened by someone. She promised to get my number tomorrow if she is still there. Also, she refused my food today. She said give it to the person who was sitting beside him. True kindness isn't just about talking; it's about doing something to help others.

    I agree with you 100% with the police chief's approach. From the interview to the day they make a mistake and puts them on the spot. This is also one thing that makes the cop reflect and have one of those "Come to Jesus" meetings with the SIU and the union. I feel this should be uniform across the board for all professions, not just law enforcement. If I was a police chief, I would treat everyone like a friend unless they make an error that could be fatal in their career. Hug the officers, be there for them. If they fall from grace, be there for them and be the person they look up to and be there from the beginning to the end.

    Another great video Randy. Those 4 questions are brilliant especially the one on how the candidate will build relationships in the community! I like how if the officer has an issue, the officer's answers to the questions can be reviewed.

    Very innovative. On a few levels. Great tool for the person being interviewed but also for the hiring team to review how to conduct interviews to get the most out of the applicants you want. I can see this approach working very well in my teaching profession- not sure how the unions would respond though lol But I would have no problem with it especially if it becomes a tool to support staff. With police-because there is a specific sort of power given to officers, I think these videos could help in reviews. Do police have them yearly? Teachers have teacher performance appraisals every so many years. That would be another scenario in which a video like this could be useful. Public service jobs have special accountability, so anything that can be used to truly help (when the job is stressful) as long as the ones in charge are willing to problem solve with their staff to make things better. Never thought I’d respond so much but I def see similarities :) thx

    • @OfficerArsenault
      @OfficerArsenault  2 месяца назад +1

      Yes for sure there are yearly performance appraisals, as well as evaluations usually after every shift cycle. Thanks for the comment, Tina!

    Great idea and hope it spreads. But have to say some departments want the most aggressive cops that produce the most arrests and fines regardless of how they do it. It's a culture thing when the whole department looks like they are on rouds

    Question is off topic for this video, but what happens if police are chasing somebody for whatever reason, and they cross over into the next province? Do they continue to pursue? Call RCMP? What would be a likely outcome.

    • @OfficerArsenault
      @OfficerArsenault  2 месяца назад +2

      Just for to let them know, dispatcher would know and notify. If it’s a pursuit it’s criminal offence, local police services would pick it up.

    I'm not in law enforcement, but in more recent years I have taken an interest in the things which affect police officers. I am normally very supportive, but I have a question that I think every officer, present or future should seriously consider. What will you do should you be ordered to do something that violates your conscience or morals. I can give a number of factual, current examples.
    Given the current supposed importance of political correctness, better think it over unless you have no particular convictions.
