    Today, we go to Monaco, home to our restaurant, Le Louis XV - Alain Ducasse at L'Hôtel de Paris Monaco. Here, you can experience what it's like to be a king. It’s a palace of pure luxury.
    The cooking style is classic French cuisine thanks to Chef Alain Ducasse.

      My thinking also. The costs for building, the amount of high end personal, quality food and presentation, calculating that with a profit margin, it's hard to imagine how it could be much lower. And, for their costumers (thinking mostly of categories like top F1 drivers level income), it's really peanuts in comparison with their bank balance.

      @JohnVC Год назад +21

      Yeah I agree, I think the wine seemed reasonably priced in. This is a meal I would probably never afford, but somehow I think it was reasonable for the quality that was given. And you're also getting to experience the hospitality of legendary Ducasse... I'd much rather pay $1,000 for this then some new restaurant trying to make waves in the industry. This is historic.

    Hello Alexander
    I have two suggestions for you.
    1. I would like to see a video where you explain fine dining etiquette - you have mentioned clothing before. As someone who have never tried a fine restaurant, but aspire to try it, I have little clue on the etiquette and what is expected by me as a quest.
    2. I would also like to see a video from your own restaurant, and also maybe a few videos from a one or two michelin star restaurant to compare to your usual videos.
    Maybe you could mix the two, and make a video about etiquette in your own restaurant, where it may be easier for you to talk with staff and likewise.
    Great videos none the less! Keep them comming :D

      @hiimacrazyguy Год назад +10

      Hey, I'm about to graduate from a hotel and catering degree in the French Alps and I have several classmates who work or have worked in the fine dinning world, so I know a little bit about the subject:) the etiquette is mainly the dress code, for a restaurant like the one in this video you can wear a standard, classic suit, but you can honestly skip the tie, and beyond that, good table manners should be practiced at the table (no elbows on the table, eat with your mouth closed, actually enjoy the food and don't just devour things), beyond that I do strongly recommend that you inform yourself about some of the things that are in the tasting menu as part of the experience is just getting to know the crazy rare and exotic the ingredients you're putting in your mouth are, that includes the wines!
      Either way, just be polite, dress well and enjoy the ride. The last part about the ingredients is optional, but it's a personal recommendation since it's a big focus of these places, and IMO, it adds to the experience.
      Keep in mind that the restaurant shown in this video is a top tier three-star Michelin restaurant. A one-star Michelin or non-starred gastronomic place will often have a less formal dress code, so it's always good to look up the dress code for the particular place you're visiting. You can probably get by with a shirt/blazer, jeans and sneakers in a bunch of places.

    I like this, more traditional menu, and food recognizable for what it is. The trend for deconstructing and refining food till it is unrecognizable it's a mystery to me. In some of the restaurants you've shown us, the foods were mostly vegetables, greens, flowers, jellies, foams, ices and broths. Some really beautiful pictures painted with food, but inexplicable as relating to nature & reality. This is restaurant I can honestly aspire to patronize as a house of cuisine, not a flavorful science demonstration.

    Who is Alain Ducasse?
    The world's best Chef......A Chef's Chef....
    only time we saw our old Swiss chef get emotional was when we gave him Alain's book for Christmas....
    We think there was a tear in his eye but we can't confirm, ahahah
