Salmon on the troll

Today we're out on the open water trolling for salmon. We're with Antonio on Lake Ontario, flat-line trolling along the shoreline along a drop. Gold American Smelts are the lure of choice today as the water is just slightly murky.

Salmon run in my town (Owen Sound) is happening soon and I'm getting psyched!!! Caught lots of salmon trolling, but I am determined to get one from the river shore this year. Also...been catching rainbows every time I go out. I usually go out for about an hour before it gets dark, and get some nearly every time. Only one night was I skunked, and that was more to do with a bunch of junk floating in the water that made it difficult to fish. Went out for maybe an hour last night and brought home two that were around 12". Nothing big...yet. Just moved here a couple months ago now and so far...in regards to fishing, at least...I love it here! I barely even buy meat when shopping anymore as I always have a trout or two in the fridge!

I give you full marks for being an enthusiastic fisherman. It's very entertaining. I wonder if we went fishing and I did all the catching, would you enjoy it as much. I think you would! Fishing isn't supposed to be about winning, but I'm always out there to do better. Friend or not, I will win.

The salmon should come up river soon. possibly this Sunday if it rains in your area. Keep monitoring river in your area and they should make their run into rivers in 1 week or 2 week time maximum. Have fun

...I actually gave it to him because he was boatless and as a shore angler, and he could catch fish anywhere and anytime - just an amazing angler :)
