  • It's a beautiful sunny day on the water. Because it's so sunny, we're going to run silver-coloured American Smelts crankbaits. Silver and sun are a great combo. The crankbait is going to run about 20 feet and we're going to troll about 3 mph looking for those Lake Ontario Chinook Salmon.

    one of the best parts is the initial hit and first run, hopefully the camera man could consider rolling during some time to capture that. Maybe try and get a 2nd low quality camera on board (gopro?) just capturing everything most of the time.

      I was thinking the same thing. They have good success it seems so it would be worth it to have a camera rolling at all times.

    What line and what test where you using, also were you using a leader?

    • @thundermistlures
      @thundermistlures  2 года назад

      I was using 20 lb Flurocarbon and because I was using fluorocarbon, I didn't need a leader - the 20 lb fluoro was perfect :)

    Actually some tests have shown that fluorocarbon stretches 50% more than monofilament lines.

    I could never trust to eat anything out of Lake Ontario. Especially salmon that big. But both very nice catches!

      You can look up “Ontario fish consumption advisory” and takes you to a site where you can click on pretty much every body of water in Ontario with how much you can eat of each species per month safely. Even shows you how much of a certain size fish you can eat. I never looked at Lake Ontario but from everything ive heard you can eat several servings per month safely.
      Definitely check if you plan to.

      @@nickcaesar7650 I just looked it up. A salmon that big is 1-2 meals a month. What's a meal? A serving size? There's probably 10 servings on that fish
