    T he Sea Lamprey Eel along with severe water pollution decimated the Fisheries of all the GREAT LAKES from the 40's to 1960's. This allowed huge volumes of Alewives to enter the these lakes unheeded which caused the Alewives to die in MASSIVE FISH KILLS. Since the Great Lakes were devoid of Lakers, Steelhead, and Salmon at that time.
    The Great Lakes were seriously out of balance during this time period, and the Great Lakes were Dead for many years for most fishing. Thank goodness for the USA, and Canada teaming together to bring back the excellent fisheries to this Great World Treasures, The Great Lakes.

      I grew up in Burlington Ontario and moved to Vancouver Island in 1972. I was in Ontario when the die-off was happening and the first Chinook salmon were stocked and returned to Bronte and the Credit River. There was no lake fishery. I can't believe the fishery you have there now. It blows me away how much gear you guys fish with. I have a 40ft retired commercial salmon troller and fish all season with two downriggers and two lines on the salt chuck. If you fished that many lines around here it would cost your big fish. I've caught 61 and 57 lb Chinooks in Juan de Fuca Strait. You have to pull all you gear and chase them otherwise your spooled.
      I've got some pretty cool pics on my FB. Allan Crow, Sooke BC. Cheers.

    Great video and no bs . 👍. See you can still catch great fish on the old tried and true ugly sticks you don’t need 400$ rod reel combo to catch fish

    Awesome video. Thumbs way up. Love that boat. I'm looking at a 29 foot baha cruiser fisherman.
    It's got twin 5.7 efi Mercurys. Hard tops are the way to go, end of story.
    I'm a Georgian Bay fisherman. Live 40 minutes from the parry sound launches.

      Sounds like you fish some beautiful country up there. I fished on quite a few bahas for walleye on Lake Erie growing up. They are very nice fishing boats.

      Slack High Sportfishing thanks, it is very nice up here. I lived in harrow when I was a boy, my father took me fishing on Erie many times. That was back in the 1980's when the water was still green and smelt really bad, before zebra mussels cleaned the Great Lakes lol.
      My wife doesn't seem to appreciate how nice those Baha's are. Maybe she needs a new dishwasher to see it more clear. lol😝😝😝
      I plan on uploading a video (my first) on our next run up to the Georgian bay if we get some good action.
      Tight lines, and keep the videos coming.

    Great video ... do you have any videos on your boat? electronics, setup , engine etc?

      That is actually a friends boat that I have fished on for years. It's a 31 ft. Tiara from the 80's with twin 454's. Great boat for the Great Lakes. My bro Al has it all decked out with GPS, Sonar, Radar... etc. Downriggers are older Cannon Digi Trolls.

    What rods are you using? Yellow and grey, what are they?

    • @MudSharkZ
      @MudSharkZ  3 года назад +1

      Ugly Sticks, 8 footers I think. They make great inexpensive rigger rods.

    When targeting kings is it better not to use boards?

    • @MudSharkZ
      @MudSharkZ  4 года назад +1

      Boards are fairly common nowadays on Lake Ontario, and they can work well for salmon. When fishing deep, you can run copper or lead core lines off of them. When fishing shallow, you can run anything from flat line spoons and sticks to J-Plugs.

    Nice video. New sub. Do u ever run cheaters or sliders on your Riggers?

    • @MudSharkZ
      @MudSharkZ  5 лет назад

      Thank you! Every once in awhile I like to run a free slider on a deeper rigger, but most of the time I like to run them clean. Just personal preference, but I do think a more cluttered set up can cost you more bites than it gets you.

  • @kylematesic
    @kylematesic 5 лет назад

    Do u run slide divers? Do u use snubbers ? I don’t use slide divers. I don’t like snubbers. I feel like I lose more bites when I have a snubber on

    • @MudSharkZ
      @MudSharkZ  5 лет назад +1

      No to both for me, I only run fixed divers with no snubbers. I totally agree that snubbers cause you to lose more fish.

    King of the oak?

    • @MudSharkZ
      @MudSharkZ  4 года назад

      No, I fished that this year and we actually got 2nd place the last day "Team Screemin Reels", same weekend as the Big Man Tournament. The day this video was filmed we were fishing a memorial tournament for my old boss and good friend Keith Poland "Whale Belly".

    • @ReactimusPrime
      @ReactimusPrime 3 года назад +1

      I only had a few conversations with Keith over years fishing at the Oak. He gave me a spoon in 2012 that we still run. Solid Guy.
      You guy fished the KOTO that was run with the Joe Toomey/Big Boys event?

    • @MudSharkZ
      @MudSharkZ  3 года назад

      @@ReactimusPrime Keith was a good friend, we spent alot of days on the water together. This tournament was a locally organized Memorial tournament, don't remember exactly which one. I fished the Big Man this year with Screamin Reels Tommy.

    Are your dipsy rods copper?

    • @MudSharkZ
      @MudSharkZ  6 лет назад +1

      Dipsy rods are stainless wire. I prefer to run the drags just tight enough so they don't click out on the troll. If its rough, I'll rubber band the line at the reel, but I prefer not to.
