People often wonder why the Nazis called themselves, "National Socialists". This is because they were originally a combination of both "Nationalist" and "Socialists", before the former deposed the latter.
Rohm was part of the "Socialist" tendency (they weren't really a faction per because they were all so competitive). Others were the Strasser brothers, and Goebbels before he changed sides.
Hitler, Himmler, Goebbels (and later), Bormann were part of the "Nationalist" tendency that became dominant, firstly by marginalising the Strassers and then killing Rohm.
This tendency is what is now understood to be "the Nazis" because it was their war-mongering and racial policies that now define the party. Others such as Goering, Ribbentrop and Speer weren't really part of either tendency but went along with the dominant one.

Anyway you look at it both the Nazis and Communists alike were equally Totalitarian and opposed to western democracies and very quick to put their political opponents through kangaroo courts leading to normally predetermined death sentences and putting their undesirables in concentration camps to perish. I find more similarities between them rather than differences honestly. Even Goebbels once wrote that throughout Europe the only political system that bore any resemblance to their own was the Bolsheviks and their Soviet Union. It's a shame that many historians try to brush these facts under the rug these days and attempt to distance the two ideologies away from each other as much as possible. Leaders of the free world such as Kennedy certainly were quick to recognize the strong resemblance between the two.

Some of the men in the SA were experienced combat veterans during WW1, no surprise that the corporal 'beer hall shouter' would be intimidated by them...they had fist fights w/ the KPD in the street, in broad daylight, would show up to KPD meetings and blow up fireworks to kill the lights and beat up the attendees, etc. These guys didn't fuck around, to put it lightly. I collect artifacts, and one of my paperwork sets in my WW2 collection is from one of the earliest members of the SA (I'd have to dig it out to give the name, it's his NSDAP party application) ('Sturmabteilung' was typed as his aspired position, and he was accepted), but under the hand-written 'about me' section, he mentions being an artillary man during WW1, had war medals, etc.
Imagine hiring somebody that's killed god knows how many people to protect you, and then silently trying to fuck them over. Braindead move, no wonder "Addie" was always watching his back w/ these guys, for good reason...most of them could have rendered him an invalid w/ their bare hands.
But alas, their legacy rots w/ the SS, since if it weren't for the SA, Hitler wouldn't have had a chance. The only thing that could have stopped their ascent to power was a brutal 'forceful' takedown (violence), and they protected party leaders from such reactions.

I suppose that beyond Rhom's "other ideas" of how the Nazi revolution should be conducted and his intended purpose for the SA (essentially, becoming a military force that would absorb the Wermacht), he was too unapologetically familiar with Adolf Hitler, and that did not bide well for his cult of personality. I'm starting to suspect that watching these type of men vs women are just rotting my brain, it's just people trying to sound smart by making millions of rebuttals on social media, if you follow everything one side says you will never get laid or initiate a relationship, it's starting to boring, every video is the same, female makes obvious unreasonable demands to get a reaction for views, it works & others make reaction videos for more views, boom! others slap both action & reaction on a another reaction video to get views, and there you have it, a never ending chain of reactions that leads you down a deep depressing Cavernous rabbit hole, after a while it just all becomes nonsense.

I grew up in Germany. My parents came from turkey as a laborers. And he told me when he came to Germany. Later on he bring all his children to Germany. Everything was broken down. People was cooking outside. He said like a big giant came and stumped all the building's. Everything was down there was no building. Without some damage.
But the Germans came looking at my dad. Curious both of them didn't speak the language. And they came with beer 🍺 bread 🍞,cheese little meat. Even if they didn't have much they gave it to my dad. After I learned the German language. I met lots of them they didn't know what going on. And some of them hide there Jewish friends .in the basement or inside the house. The radio 📻, TV 📺, newspapers was controlled by the nazi regime. And the jews was not allowed to listen, read the news. Lot's of them young people got executed because they were giving out information and trying to get the Germans to bring down the nazi regime. I met a old woman. She said.
Me and my family, friend's go walk to the military personnel. And they offered them selfs for food, medical supply, milk for the baby's. Nobody looked down at them.
Or said anything. She told me I left my small children. And go get something to eat. Or even cigarettes, whisky. To sell it in the black market and buy food. To the people looking down at them. It's not right they had to servive.
What ever people say negative comments. Live their lives for 1 week and then come back and talk. German people don't deserve it.

Probably the people believed in him at first but seeing how he turns into a blood thirsty dictator who just wants to conquer everything in it's path made them change their opinion but it was already too late.
At least that's what i believed, that's why i'm curious how german people lived during his rule but weirdly i can't find a video about that.

Hitler was the Ultimate Hypocrite, many things completely untolerated in society were tacitly condoned. Roehm was a homosexual with a penchant for teens, tolerated for years until Hitler used it to his advantage as a reason for his killing. Humanity had a win on the Night of the Long Knives, regardless.
