Sanjeev Sanyal: The walkable city

  • Sanjeev Sanyal, Global Strategist at Deutsche Bank and President of the Sustainable Planet Institute, gave a talk entitled "The Walkable City" in Singapore on 29 April 2013, organised by the Centre for Liveable Cities (www.clc.gov.sg).
    He shared his views on how walkability in Singapore, how this creates urban planning opportunities, encourages social interaction and inclusion, and fulfils both economic and environmental agendas.
    Following his talk was a moderated panel dialogue featuring Mr Andrew Fassam, Senior Director of Conservation and Urban Design Group at Singapore's Urban Redevelopment Authority; Mr Steven Goh, Executive Director of Orchard Road Business Association; and Mrs Ong-Koh Wee Nah, Director for the Architecture & Commuter Infrastructure Development at Singapore's Land Transport Authority. The panel discussion and Q&A with the audience were moderated by Prof. Paul Barter of the Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy, National University of Singapore.
