** Plot
A mysterious alien artifact has been recovered and brought to a top-secret research facility in the Black Mesa. When newcomer Dr. Gordon Freeman is assigned to physically test the artifact, things go very wrong when the artifact opens a destructive and unstable portal to Xen, a planet in a different dimension. Gordon blacks out, and awakes in a now crippled and ruined research facility. When Freeman and the survivors of this ordeal discover the portal has allowed its inhabitants deadly alien creatures to enter the facility, they realize that they must call the government for help. The government, however, already has plans to contain this incident by silencing the witnesses.
** Notes
The Steam version is the closest to the original that I could find.
- The initial menu looks more like the one in Half-Life 2. I don't think the background picture is the same either.
- This version uses True color, whereas the original did not. You barely notice it.
- The Hazard Course tutorial is missing. -

This game was so ahead of its time. Even years after it still is just as revolutionary as it was back then. Without this game Valve games let alone games would not be the same as it is today. Definitely an underrated gem of a game.

I know it's been 10 years since you uploaded this but since the first two Half Life games are on Steam for free (albeit temporarily) I'm using this video as a walkthrough. It's never too late to play those old gems.

Greatest fps game of all time. Played the hell out of this in my teenage years in 99-01. All of its add ons and mods too.

1 The game was great, singelplayer ruled!
2 Mutliplayer was incredible! So much fun to be had!

Wow, I can't believe this video is almost 10 years old already. (and the game is almost 22 years old.) Still a masterpiece
It's crazy thinking that it's been 23 years since this came out and it still feels relatively fresh. Yet you look at games even 5 years before Half Life came out and it feels like a whole different world.

I find it hilarious that the "evacuating the transport" part of the opening speech occurs over a massive drop that would kill anyone who got off the train there.
It's the clever little ironies of Valve that keep players coming back.

38:54 the first time I crawled into this room and started getting hit by that autogun, the fast THOOP THOOP THOOP of the bullet hits was merciless. Freaked me out. I had a subwoofer system at the time, too. Really felt it. I wish Valve cared about continuing the Half Life story, but they just don't.
I love that the switch to turn this off was underneath the gun. It makes you wonder what happened to the person who originally turned it on!

help me please! i don't get that yellow loading text like in 5:00 when the game loads something, it displays the loading screen from counter strike instead (where it says "precaching resources..." or something like that. do you guys know how to bring the yellow loading text instead of that steam loading screen?

I would have liked to see a Sega Saturn port of this. It would probably have been a bit slow, grainy and abridged but I would have bought it. Too bad the console was already to starting to fade in 1998.
There's an unreleased port for Dreamcast,if you want a released and good port,get it for PS2,or the original PC version.
There is a PS2 and a Sega Dreamcast port of the game.

720p60 in 2010? How did RUclips react to this then?
The original file that was uploaded was 60 fps. RUclips kept it somewhere and reprocessed it once the 720p60 format became supported.

+4you7reviews Yeah, they released an HD pack for the PC version before the ps2 version was released though. This game was before the PS2 or even Dreamcast.

The HD version isn't the source version, that was released somewhere around 2005 I think.

@ClaTheNinja If you registered as a director in 2007 or earlier you can upload vids with unlimited time, and you're wrong if you click on the upload button it should say
"Congratulations! Your account is now enabled for uploads longer than 15 minutes. Click the Upload button below to select a video." -I think it's 3 hours or less.
And you're wrong again. If you use the java based Advanced uploader, you can upload videos big as you wish (bigger than 2gb).But before you post read the channel FAQ.

It was meant to close the dimensional rip created by the resonance cascade, but it didn't work because the Nihilanth was holding the rip open on the other side in Xen.
20 years later that same satellite network would be used to close the Combine's Superportal.
