The hop over the trees into the wide turn at about 10:00 is a REALLY good shot
love the wide shot at 10:12 into the next bit .
what a ride
I love the transparency of this video. Some intense lines, glad you got the shot! Also your intro is top notch!
Great video! As pilots risk management is a huge process of what we do. There is so much useful and educational information in this video that all drone pilots can learn from. Thanks for sharing to process both the ups and downs.
That is THE best chase footage of a rollercoaster I have seen to date. Much respect for sharing your experience and tips. Helps a lot for us in this currently very niche market.
I'm inspired. Thanks bruh.
Awesome! This was like practicing a race course in a video game - you can't get 1st place on the first run on a hard course, but when you know all the corners and nail the speed for the win, it feels so rewarding, much like watching this video was!
"When mistakes happen, you have to reset - mentally" Wish I could like that part alone. Very motivational to hear even professionals run into mental hurdles that we think they don't have.
4:57 that’s what she said 😂😂😂
You’re the best NURK!
Gotem!
Such a great video that gets you invested in the shot.
Paul, such a great video. I would hardly call that crash as mistake...it was just part of what you needed to learn to get the best shots. Well done.
Hope for the best, plan for the worst.
That's how it's done. It's how we got to the Moon, that attitude. Keep it goin' Paul.
I am glad You release this. We are not perfect and we make mistakes, more so with less experience than you.
I can't even imagine the difficulty with these shots wow man next level Nurk! Love to see your thought process along the ride. #inspired 🤟👍👏
Appreciate showing the true struggle of FPV BTS that clients don't understand 🤙 just want the shot 🤣
Your videos are at another level in terms of content, editing, timing, mood and humor. Why not fly while sitting in the coaster? Seems pretty mellow. Bravo NURK! 🔥
This was brilliant, Nurk. Loved the behind the scenes and in particular you speaking on mindset and overcoming doubts/negative thoughts after a mistake. Amazing stuff (as always). ❤🙏
Awesome video on getting the shot. Love it brother🤘😎🤘
Glad you shared this process Paul, awesome to show your human and make mistakes the real strength here is how you overcame it!
Nailed it! The storytelling showing the process was so good too! Cheers -Bulbufet- Nurk ! You've come a hell of a long way!
Spectacular flying, sir! :)
Great video, Nurk! Loving that you explore professional mistakes as a learning experience. Crashes happen on site, it's an assumed risk. But with the proper planning and practicing, you can still get the shot. Excellent flying dude.
I have been flying survey drones for the last 11 years, everything from home made stuff with KK boards, Eagle Tree FPV through the ridiculously priced Leica Aibotix drones up to the DJI M300RTK with LiDAR and Photogrammetry sensors on it. I have a few thousand hours of flying, but when I see this, I feel like an amateur. I know this is difficult and I can only wish to be able to fly like this.
Wow!
outstanding great breakdown of the video .. fair play
Excellent Video, Excellent Information ,Excellent Flying, and Excellent Photography. Thank You.
I always Enjoy Nurk's videos. I especially enjoy his candid demeanour as well as his honest and unabashed approach to explaining the "ins and outs" of being a professional FPV pilot. Much respect and a sincere thank-you.
This is so inspiring. Not because you're amazing (you are!), but because you make mistakes and aren't perfect, which is relatable. Thanks for sharing this, Paul.
Nurk that was one of the coolest things I ever seen done with a drone! Way to get the shot bro!! I freaking love quads! How versatile!!!
That was awesome. Nice job paul! My hearts pumping just from watching you pull that off!!
Great Video nice to see your process.
Question: do you setup Turtle Mode and ESC Beeping? Not sure if your battery came off on the coaster crash but they both have saved my bacon on shoots. I had RC signal drop one time when shooting some property and it dropped on a barn roof upside down and Turtle Mode saved me. I recently was hired to film for a company that makes drum mulchers and had a wood chip take the quad down in the woods in tall brush and without ESC Beeping it would have not been recoverable.
Awesome video Nurk! Killing it as always
Paul's biggest critic is Paul. Paul's biggest fan is all of us! Just know, sir.... you inspire and educate and entertain and create masterpieces in process. The wait for this video, however long, was well worth it.
This is awesome, thank you for showing some behind the scenes of a shoot.
Thank you for sharing this with us! As a newer Part 107 holder and new business owner it's so great to see professional thought processes. It's nice to know even y'all make mistakes and have to move on. Thanks Nurk!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
What an awesome video, thank you for showing us behind the scenes of how creating commercial grade flight footage can be filled with so many hurdles to overcome, physical and logistical.
Thank you for sharing O mighty Bulbefet, it's immensely inspirational to see that we're all human :]
Next time you chase something try your Nurk edition BangGod. I know it’s heavy but I’ve used it for chasing and that weight makes chasing easier. It tracks on a line much better than a lighter quad. It’s weird but heavy is good for chasing IMO.
I live fairly close to where this is we use to go all the time when I was a kid the two roller coasters that were always my favorite was the voyage and the legend!
Unreal! Amazing shots!
So cool. Love all those coasters and as always you rocked it!
Thanks Nurk! its awesome that you share that sometimes shit will happen, no matter how much you plan.. but planning ahead for possible risk of failure and then how to conquer them. i love it. thank you Nurk for the ridealong :D
Super cool Paul. I like that you're still flying the Super G. Why mess with a tried and true formula?! Beautiful!
Amazing flying, Paul! Seriously good work.
Oh man! I got so tense watching this 😬 Thank you 🙏
This video is gold
Amazing content! Thanks for giving us a look behind the scenes
Brill video, i have always showed my mistakes and learnings in my videos, im very new to the FPV world and loving every minute of it. i have added you page to my descriptions because i have learned so much from watching you. 🙃🙃
@9:26 so true not only in drones but other life things, well said
Brilliant as always, I keep learning every time I fly, picking up the pieces after a mistake mentality is the hardest for me, It was great to hear it happens to the pros Thanks'
you are such an inspiration to me... I hope I will get to your level one day for my travel channel. That would be amazing
like you said, learn from the mistakes. really good stuff.
👌🏻
Damn, held my breath through the last two shots!😅
I like how Nurk uses the DJI controller but has some stubby antenna conversions. I find that the penetration with the DJI controller for bandos and stuff like that is pretty incredible! The quality of flying displayed in this video is phenomenal!!
Great job buddy 👏👏👏 great work that was amazing as always.
Dude only one crash ! That shows how good of a pilot you are.
Incredible flying
Hell yeah man. Gettin into that flow state!
Awesome Nurk! Love your videos!
Great info Paul. I’ll always trust your advice. 👊🏻your an inspiration
amazing footage brother! i wonder what camera angle did u use?? pitch is so smooth! Great Job!
Beautiful stuff man!
Always going back at filming trains ;) Another great video!!
Wow this was a great video Paul!!! Those last two takes you brought your inner calm out bro, such great shots!!! Well done, hopefully this is where FPV will take me one day. Thanks for the ride along!!! 🔥🔥🔥🔥
Just Epic shots buddy great video thanks..
It was almost like you were running on the tracks at some points 😁
Beautiful job very inspirational skill.
Thanks for sharing Paul, nail biting flight just watching let alone piloting it ! Is there going to be Part 3 the 3rd coaster ? 🤔👍😎
Super sweet!
Love it. Awesome video, bud.
This was awesome to watch. Great preparation and skilled flying. Just awesome
The biggest challenge for me so far has been filming acro paragliders. It took a bit to understand the dynamics in three-dimensional space. The greater the success was then to take close-ups of such great athletes.
I know you mentioned you couldn't see the tunnel gap and just followed the car hoping it was on the right path. Shouldn't that have been the mindset in the beginning? The carts always going to follow the track, keep proximity and you won't hit anything going in blind.
Great shooting and great risk assessment shown here.
Great video Nurk, I would hardly call this a mistake, video came out amazing and you being able to chase it all the way is MAGIC !
A recent experience if dunking a quad and a gopro in the sea while at a shot filming sailboats taught be a lot as well...had a plastic bottle though .
Cheers for the vid man
Thanks for sharing this!
Awesome video. Super helpful for someone like me who is just getting into flying FPV professionally!
The work up to the one shot is nice Paul. Hard flying on the first coaster for real man.
Hell ya bro cant wait to get am exciting gig like this one
🔥🔥🔥🔥 sick Video thanks for sharing 🙏🏻
Absolutely great flying Paul !
I would have wanted to trim that branch.
BTW I finished my long range fpv traxxas summit i talked with you about. Longest ground range i've seen.
Thanks for sharing, some of us have many more opportunities to have successful mistakes than others xD
Amazing Ride !! 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻😎
Great job sir!! 👊 😎
AMAZING!!
Man, that was really immersive!
I did a little following-test myself, if you like, you can watch it:
youtu . be / yXOiA0cMCX4
I did a little following-test myself, if you like, you can watch it, it is my latest video.
And the one before that:)
thanks for sharing it!! were all human...
really outstannding ~ =))
Awesome video.
🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Yo, thanks for this video, I'm still new & this video is extremely helpful for understanding more of what is involved etc
Your a BEAST!!
Is there a better camera you can use? Looks like an old GoPro. But damn bro this flying is so incredible
To shoot roller coasters easier, you'll need a drone that can fly 3D (like those aerobatic cp helis)
Roller coasters can pull more negative G forces than freefall. Roller coaster enthusiasts call that ejector airtime, as you feel like you violently get thrown out of the seat since you accelerate downwards faster than gravitional pull. The drone without 3D can not accelerate downwards faster than gravity since least thrust you can get is cutting the throttle off and letting the drone fall. But if you have a 3D drone, you can Actually catch up with how violently the roller coaster goes down the drop as you can get negative thrust.
which radio controller are you using to monitor Dji V2 goggles Video feed ?
shame, never got through tunnel.
and the end, should gone through station, 180 yaw, raising backwards into sky, with full shot coaster track..
hope this helped... (maybe DJI Avata would have been better choice, as you don't have Drag go pro about... )
...
I would have broke every quad that I own 5 times over and still not get the shot. Meanwhile Nurk clips one branch and makes a great video out of it.
You need to do 3d flying for roller coasters!
Which walkies do you use?
Nice to know you're human!
can the coaster be slowed? Speed the video up in post ;)
Ssup Nurk
There was really only one crash? I would rather call it early landing and a bit of gardening than a mistake :)
I don't understand how you are able to accelerate and slow down and take corners as dynamically as you do, and yet keep the subject so flat and in frame. I have to image there is a decent amount of software stabilization being used. you are obviously skilled but physics seem to not be in play here.
So you don't have a machete yet?
