Hovsco wants a commercial for their bike? Ok? I'll shoot one with my FPV drone and show you the whole behind-the-scenes process!
I was totally unprepared for how much freaking fun it was bombing up and down hills with this bike. I wanna go fast, but I'm not a super athlete mountain biker. The electric motor in this bike makes me as fast in real life as I am in my dreams. It hits 15-20 mph with almost zero effort, if I turn up the variable-strength assist to the max. Or I can dial it down to extend range and give myself a bit of a workout.

Thanks to Evan Turner (headsupfpv) for helping with this video. Evan is a world-class racing drone champion and professional cinematic FPV pilot. Evan's company FlyFive33 makes amazing racing drone parts: flyfive33.com/

Your giving the ebike away and I won Mr. Bardwell???!!!! So cool so you just gonna ship it to me??? Sweet!! 😂🤣🤥
Bardwell, can you help me with an issue? Just bought a DJI O3 vtx and ripped one antenna on the first day flying it, is it ok to fly single antenna while I wait for the replacement one or will I burn the vtx?
This was sooo much fun to edit! Thanks to Hovsco for this opportunity given to Joshua and me by extension! Oh, and BTW, dear Hovsco, if you want to send me one of your amazing bikes too, I won't be offended! :)))
It was a pleasure meeting you all guys! :) Thanks for all your comments and appreciation! :) I hope it's going to be just one of many appearances here on Joshua's channel! Cya!
Great edit! One thing that really made it work was the sound. I assume you added the SFX in post (gravel, birds, etc.)?
I did one or two runs without the drone and just my lavalier microphone running. For one run, I held it low down near the ground to try to pick up tire noise. Fabio cut that stuff together with the video to get the result you see. He also combined a lot of stock sound clips like the birds, the train, and the whoosh sounds. For the gravel, it's possible it was my recording and not stock.
You're very talented, an amazing end product. Hope to get the time to learn how to edit properly myself one day! 🙂
Great Edit!
@@readysetdrone I confirm everything Joshua said, the gravel was the original recording, correct.
Really enjoyed being apart of this, all credit to Josh on the video idea/execution. hope everyone enjoyed!
Yo Evan!
Loved getting an inside look at your work, you make magic happen! Was a pleasure.
@@headsupfpv Hey, same here, man! It would be nice to do something else together, feel free to tell Joshua if you need my presence in some of your jobs or something! :)
Loved that opening shot coming over the trees down to JB. I've done a bit of chasing bikes before, but really tended to stick to close to the subject. Your suggestions of varying the shots and distance were on point!
It's really cool how like, one sentence from an expert can re-shape how you think about something like this. Whenever I chased, I set myself up behind the subject and chased them. Evan saying that you specifically DON'T want to do that was eye opening.
As a filmmaker by profession, this was a very informative video to see right now as I learn to incorporate FPV into my work. Because I do this stuff day in and day out, I know just how much work went into this video… and it is a TON. If you aren’t subbed to this man yet, what’s wrong???
It was a TON of work thank you for saying. Glad you liked it. (P.S. it would have been less work if I hadn't accidentally unplugged the shotgun mic on the camera, requiring us to re-construct the first section of his audio from my lav mic, before I thought to mic him up separately, because I was like, oh we'll just use the shotgun audio we don't need to mic him. tl;dr always mic your talent and have backup audio if you don't have a sound guy to monitor in real time.)
This was a great video…
This epic commercial made for our Hovsco HovAlpha 750w fat tire torque sensor ebike is really amazing🥰👍, thank you so much for making this video happen, Joshua. You really did a great job on this commercial and we really appreciate your story-telling style so that we can know what's behind the scene. Meanwhile, we really appreciate that you invited two of your friends(Evan Turner and Fabio Pansera) to finish this great video. Love the video so much, and watching this video brings tons of fun. keep up your great content.
Love the video Joshua. Take it from someone who a helmet saved their life ... ALWAYS wear a helmet. ESP on an ebike. These are like motorcyles. Please man we love you. Stay cool JB. I ride MTB in Oregon mountains and have had some hard crashes. Helmet will save your skull. I just did my first ebike video too with Rebecca last week! Total blast to film. I did mine with our Avata. Now we have 2 ebikes and ride together for fun. Great edit guys! - JD.
thank you! :D
Nice format from you Joshua, glad something different/new ;) Thanks!
bro. you should be getting like 10 free bikes for that. Evan and Fabio should at least get one each.
I honestly wouldn't mind xD
I'd say you earned the ebike! Nice collab too!
JB, What a great video! Really provided a great deal of information and very well done! Congrats on the Bike, its well deserved and keep up the quality vids.
Format of this video was awesome JB. Especially liked the segments where you brought in Evan and Fabio. Made a fun story start to end. Nice work.
This might be my favorite video you've ever put out (and that's saying a lot). Absolutely LOVE stuff like this. Thank you for making it!
Drones and bikes, my favorites in one video
Awesome video guys! I really enjoyed watching!
Love the content and change of pace. Not only for the education, but the cinematic flying was a nice change.
This was really fun to watch. It was really cool to see how much work it takes to make just a short video such as the e-bike ad. Great job by all three of you guys!
Thanks!
this was a fun episode, good edits always impress the bejeezus outta me.
That was great, love to see more stuff like this.
Great video Joshua. I have been riding e-bikes since June 22. Love it!
Great video by you and Evan. It was cool seeing him share his BHA knowledge. Well done concept video JB.
This was a lot of fun and informative , nice work guys
Outstanding film! Enjoyed the journey.
Fantastic video, Joshua! 😃
The bike really seems amazing!!!
Stay safe there with your family! 🖖😊
Absolutely fab! Learnt a lot from you all, all three of you! And @JB, I like that you’re so obviously transparent in matters of sponsorship etc. Good man!
Glad you liked it!
love to see it, great job 🙌🏽
It's a blast. great job team
Wow, this was super cool, super educational and lotsa fun to watch!! Thanks for sharing this! Best regards from Brasilia, Brazil.
Good stuff fellas! Enjoyed this.
Very inspiring, nice work!
These guys got way more than what they paid for in this ad. they should be giving everyone involved an bike
That was a fun watch, thanks JB!
That was impressive :D great job!
Great video! Really liked the creative pieces, that Evan and Fabio brought to light as well. There is a lot more to a production than just ripping around with a strap-on.. camera, that is.. .
Thanks! Glad you enjoyed this! :)
Nice word play **golf clap**
@@Wtf_drone_productions I'm afraid my English is not good enough to understand your comment.
That was an amazing video!!! You looked so great, JB!!!
really enjoyed watching this! awesome stuff!
nice on !!!you gave me again a great view of how awesome fvp universe is !!!
Very cool!
Wow, I'm SO IMPRESSED with the final result of the commercial!!! 🤩 The edited video turned out SO GOOD that when I finished to watch on my phone, I immediately ran to my living room and called my wife to watch it with me on the big 4k tv on max resolution available. She loved it as well! Kudos to this great commercial and congrats for the new e-bike! 🙌🏻🚴♂️
Glad you liked it! :)
Fanfreakingtastic video mate!
Cool stuff . Loved all the info !
I love all of you normal videos, and this other side of FPV is just as amazing. I have a part time business with drones myself and I'm looking to incorporate FPV into the mix. This was on the money for what I needed, THANK YOU!
excellent edit, loved every minute!
Brilliant Barbwell! What a cool idea
One of the most informative e-bike videos I have seen yet, well explained, and of course the drone shots and the editing.
Great Content
Lol Josh back there breathing while holding the camera like he’s had to run out to the location while the other dude biked. Love the videos and information! Very helpful
I enjoyed really much ,grazie mille.😊😊
Great video and bike! Nice workflow too!
This video is a great addition to your content!
fantastic video guys! Incredible work
Thanks man! I'm glad you liked it!
ok the final made you look like a complete badass! great job!
I like videos like this. showing the work flow to make good videos
This was absolutely amazing, thanks so much for putting all that out there. Huge respect for all three of you 😎
Thanks man! :)
@@FabioPansera have you ever tried colour grading with Da Vinci Resolve? I downloaded it and used it twice to do the rest of the editing but it seems too daunting so far and I've resorted to an android emulator and Calicut! 🤣. How would you recommend learning to use proper software?
@@elishahodgson1635 That's an interesting question. I must say that Da Vinci Resolve it's a GREAT tool, and on par with its “colleagues” such as Premiere.
Often Da Vinci Resolve is judged as more complete and refined for Color Management and power masking, and that is true, especially for a beginner.
However, there is nothing that Premiere can't do in terms of colors, especially if you further help yourself with a few plug ins such as Colorista V for example.
I have a few main issues about using Da Vinci Resolve, the main are:
- I have 15+ thousand hours on Premiere Pro, practically speaking and from the mere business standpoint, it's not convenient for me to give up such a hard-earned synergy, experience, and quickness including muscle memory. Because I would give that up in favor of what is primarily (in my case at least) a better use of your hardware.
- Most of my clients have used, keep using and will use Adobe Suite (including Premiere, After Effects and Audition) that is super interconnected and optimized to seamlessly work together on every aspect. It's important to have the same software (although not necessary for every scenario).
- I shoot in ProRes RAW and Da Vinci doesn't support it. (you can do some BS conversion to a formal that Da Vinci likes, but it's not a workflow I'm willing to endure).
___
When I've learned to edit, I was 14, so about 16 years ago. RUclips was just starting, and I didn't know English, let alone technical English.
I had to learn the language and the technical stuff (very scarce) from 0. It took me a lot of time and because I was a teenager with a more flexible brain, I was able to do so. I'm not confident I would be able to do the same nowadays.
That being said, there is no shortcut, I'm afraid. Just the patience to shoot something, open up a tutorial and follow step by step until the muscle memory starts to kick in, more or less like in a new FPS game or whatnot. There is no way around it.
What I do recommend is to learn (or customize) the shortcuts straight away and force yourself to use them.
When it comes to rules, styles, etc etc, we enter a realm so big that it's really impossible to discern in a comment. It's basically 16 years of experience, trial an error, plenty of doors slammed in my face, awkwardness, bad experiences and good ones.
And on top of that, what worked in 2015, when I was working for brands such as Netto, Lidl, Mastercard, Visa, Knorr, Ferrero etc, is not automatic that works today. So, it's a constant work in progress, and keep yourself up to date.
@@FabioPansera Thank you so much for taking the time to produce such a detailed and tailored answer. I shall go forth with my new found courage and exploit every last drop of computing power my integrated graphics laptop processor has, and enjoy it. Learning new skills is a blast when you chose to and don't have the pressure of a deadline. You've truly mastered your trade and I hope to someday reach a level that does justice to the shots I'm working with.
Take care man (if you're in Italy right now then we're in the same time zone since I live in France and 4am is pretty late! :) )
Edit: a little detective work would suggest Switzerland rather than Italy. Same time zone anyway!
@@elishahodgson1635 I had to move from Ukraine in March for, well, obvious reasons. I used to live there. Currently, I live in Switzerland, waiting to come back home after we'll win. It is 4 AM indeed, that's about the time I go to sleep normally haha :)
Have a good one and I wish you all the best for your learning experience, I'm sure you're gonna have fun!
Very interesting and informative video.
Awesome seeing Evan Turner and Fabio assisting you with this project. The end result was way cool. 👍💖😎
Great to be part of it! : )
Wow, very nice topic, I would love to see similar content!
More of these Commercial Pilot Videos please! This and that interview you did with “The Guys” really helped and inspired me to push harder for my own stuff while also giving me tips on what to expect when going to a shoot.
Evan, Fabio, Josh... Final was an EPIC production. Great job!
Thanks man! : )
Thank you 🤙🏻
Fantastic video! Gather really talented people and this is what you can produce! The behind-the-scenes insight from Evan and Fabio were great! They showed how much thought and energy goes into a video shoot and production! Thank you! I definitely learned something today!
Thanks, glad you liked it!
Nice!
fantastic video, Fabio, JB and Evan!
Appreciate the By the Book approach and attention to safety 👍🏽
Hi Josh, Great video on how to make a commercial, and review of the Hovsco E-Bike, and Hi Fabio, great to finally meet you.
My pleasure! : )
That was cool
Thanks god you did not crash and had a trauma to your skull, riding fast on light gravel without a Helmet. But awesome shots diving towards you and tight editing. Reninds me of the Aprilia Tuareg 660 commercial. Btw love your 15 video tutorial of BF 4.3, outstanding
I enjoyed it!
nice concept
particularly impressed with the braking stunt you did with the e bike at the end of the video edit😂.
Nice work.
Nice one guys, I'm late to the party, but good to watch this anyway.
Bardwell...I see what you did. I love you. Keep making great content. in a weird way..this video was made JUST for me.
Nice video.. You know you'll need to follow up with a whole series on this topic now 😊
Nice bike but for a little more (or a lot more) u can get full suspension ebikes with same specs. Makes a huge difference if you ride over rougher terrain.
Good info on drone camera setups. For those that don't have an expert for advice, it just takes a lot of practice, for any type of cinematography. But, as we know, drones offer unmatched capabilities especially on shots requiring great heights like filming real-estate or castles for example. I was surprised that the DJI drone tracking and various other capabilities within those types of captures were not mentioned at all. That's what most of them were designed to do. But you did say at the beginning you preferred protected blades vs open. Granted, that is a very important safety factor.
BTW, kudos to Fabio! FANTASTIC job!
Thanks, man! Glad you liked the video! :)
Nice 💯
Evan Turner all grown up
Lol!
WOW nice one
i like how you put this together even though I had to self teach myself how to add sound and cut and clip, the color grading i never did i might try.
Do try! It changes your game! :)
Great seeing Fabio and is work flow as well. Great job.
Thanks man! Glad you enjoyed it! : )
Very, very interesting as to how Fabio did his work on this commercial! I've watched Trent Palmer kopter kids posts do some of his editing etc. and I find all of this is a field very few persons would would even fathom is going on in the background of a commercial. Thumbs Up Kemosabe, Hovsco could not have asked a better person to do a short easy going commercial.
Thanks! Glad you enjoyed this! :)
Nice video. Would like to see more. I don’t do anything professionally but I like to edit videos to show family and friends
How reflective would you like your sunglasses to be?
Turner: Yes.
Nice bike
Nice to see you using a cinewhoop with guards for protection of a possible small cut from the drone to the rider but missed the importance of wearing a helmet and gloves. Saves on pumpkin damage and road rash hands.
WOW NICE SIR GREAT👍👍👍
This is one of the reasons why I love my skydio 2 obviously it's not fpv by because of its amazing obstacle avoidance and tracking if you actually use your environment in the obstacles within it you can get some very interesting shot while attracts you and avoids obstacles that have an fpv like feel to it not an all-inclusive drone neither is fpv as well but it definitely has something to offer versus a standard DJI , and then a combination of both skydio and fpv can really unleash some amazing potential
The final result 💯
Thanks man!
Have to give it to your video editor! He took what looked like a really drab day/ environment to film this and through the magic of color grading made it really nice!
Thank you, appreciated! :)
Awesome tips. All of my videos have no story. But I need to do just that.
Hey, that's so cool, I hope more people get inspired to drive less, cycle more while enjoying doing it. What a bike, right? Also kudos to Evan and Fabio to make this look so great.
Thanks! Glad you enjoyed the video! :)
@@FabioPansera they said FPV was hard... Not even close to how hard video editing can be (both in technical and artistic levels). That little clip wasn't just cool. It was a tour de force. Bravo.
@@AdrianoCasemiro thanks man, appreciated ☺️☺️
Great lil vid. Ebikes are amazing for accessibility. Wait til you try a proper one with Bosch, yamaha, or shimano mid drive systems. I fly fpv and work in the cycle industry…. Good to see you enjoying life ❤
Great video and awesome break down of the whole process... but why does the "pro" not have any ND filters for the shots. Would have looked way more immersive/fast with some on! But again great work
I have an e-bike. It’s great for getting me away from the city people and up a trail where I can fly my drones without worrying about a cop or a park ranger pulling up and ruining my good time. They never get out of their cars and they don’t ride bicycles where I live. These are also great for the rescue mission if you crash a half mile down the trail.
Good job grabbing that person over there to help out with visual observing 😆
Always fly legally and under the safety provisions of a CBO. The more you know!
Knoxville, Tennesse represent 🙌
So would the way the bike senses how much pressure you are applying to the peddles and tells the motor how much assistance to apply, is that a pid controller?
yes, it senses how much pressure you are applying to the peddles and deliver the right assistance power you want. Check the link the learn more
Impressive. I feel your videos on everything are thorough. Great job. One thing I feel could have made it better on the Final Cut would be to go the other way through the trail where the trees are. The Sun made it a little blurry.
Actually enjoyed watching this. Bored of what has become the standard walksnail/dji/hdzero content.
Some actual informational footage which shows even the amature drone pilot can achieve some nice clips with a little bit of thought. Please more videos like these!
Fabio, what a guy! Being able to put a small edit like that together with what he had showcases his talent and knowledge. Was nice to hear from him :)
