      The lead singer/songwriter of the group '6ix'. They opened for Sly and the Family Stone 1969-1970 and were recorded on Sly's label.

    I remember meeting Sly when he lived in our neighborhood. He was driving home in his white Rolls Royce at 2mph. I walked next to him for about a mile and made sure he made it home. I offered to drive him home but he said he could do it. I always wondered how far he drove at that speed before I saw him.

    I remember when Sly Stone was a DJ for radio station KDIA in the Bay Area. That how far Sly goes back.

      Yes, KDIA was what I listened to, that’s where Sly started!! Sly started the whole funk music revolution back then, he was the foundation of funk music!! Move over George Clinton/Parlament/Funkadelic!

    Anyone that tries drugs must be crazy. What’s the point? Really! Why! Same old story with Musicians or talented people. I haven’t seen anyone with a good testimony about the positives of using it. Simply stupid.

    Sly still being alive is a mystery in itself. The guy has probably consumed enough intoxicants to kill the population of Rhode Island.
    He and the others mentioned here have created outstanding music. I don't consider myself good, but I'm sure they're the influences that made me pick up the guitar 46yrs ago.

    It Was Because Of Sly, That I Wanted To Start Playing A Guitar, Keyboard And Sing When I Saw Them In Concert In Newark, NJ Back In 1970. I'm Still Playing And Singing Today, 2022.
    I Love You Sly, And Of Course, The Family Stone. RIP Cynthia Robinson ❤️

    Actually, they are out of Vallejo but, because Vallejo is a suburbs of San Francisco and most people don't know about Vallejo is certainly kool to say San Francisco.
    I think Sly went to Hogan high.

    Sly Stone DID not age well, he looks terrible. It's really good that as far as we know is STILL ALIVE.🤔 👁️👁️

      Sly was on drugs. He looks bad from hard living, drugs and partying. He didn’t take care of himself.

      We lived in Hayward. I wanted to go the Frenchy's so bad to see Sly. I was just too young. By the time I started going, still underage, but Sly and the Family Stone were big time.

    my sister and i went to see sly at the house of blues anaheim about 10 years ago it was truly sad he was obviously on something and the show was not only short but a disaster. i still listen to his music because he wrote some of the most beautiful songs ever written. i hope hes doing good.

    Saw the band in August 1970 in Milwaukee. Late as usual...fights in the crowd upfront. We white boys knew enough to stay in back. Terrific show!

    Heard them live in 1967 north of Toronto ,I was 16 working the door at the venue, a ski chalet.The sound I heard that night was out of this world,at least my world.
    Sly was suppose to go on your with Miles Davis,Gil Evans,on bass but he never showed up for rehearsals.

    at the two minute and thirty second mark, the photo on the left is NOT freddie stewart - it is dave brown, from the santana band at the 1969 woodstock festival.

    I'dheard of Sly from Dr. John,.: I used to know sly and the family stone. When I picked up Small Talk on L.P. I was absofuckinglutely blown away by the nonchalent skill. What a mega major. The guy is musically beyond compare.
