I remember meeting Sly when he lived in our neighborhood. He was driving home in his white Rolls Royce at 2mph. I walked next to him for about a mile and made sure he made it home. I offered to drive him home but he said he could do it. I always wondered how far he drove at that speed before I saw him.
Yes, KDIA was what I listened to, that’s where Sly started!! Sly started the whole funk music revolution back then, he was the foundation of funk music!! Move over George Clinton/Parlament/Funkadelic!

Sly and the family stone was itttt and they proved it threw all of their hits there ain't nobody as bad as sly and the family stone and that's the truth cause it's a family affair its a family affairrrrr🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶😄👍
He basically led an undisciplined life. The evidence speaks for itself. What's amazing to me is that he's still alive. I thought he'd died a long time ago.
Anyone that tries drugs must be crazy. What’s the point? Really! Why! Same old story with Musicians or talented people. I haven’t seen anyone with a good testimony about the positives of using it. Simply stupid.
Sly still being alive is a mystery in itself. The guy has probably consumed enough intoxicants to kill the population of Rhode Island. He and the others mentioned here have created outstanding music. I don't consider myself good, but I'm sure they're the influences that made me pick up the guitar 46yrs ago.
It Was Because Of Sly, That I Wanted To Start Playing A Guitar, Keyboard And Sing When I Saw Them In Concert In Newark, NJ Back In 1970. I'm Still Playing And Singing Today, 2022. I Love You Sly, And Of Course, The Family Stone. RIP Cynthia Robinson ❤️
Actually, they are out of Vallejo but, because Vallejo is a suburbs of San Francisco and most people don't know about Vallejo is certainly kool to say San Francisco. I think Sly went to Hogan high.
We lived in Hayward. I wanted to go the Frenchy's so bad to see Sly. I was just too young. By the time I started going, still underage, but Sly and the Family Stone were big time.
my sister and i went to see sly at the house of blues anaheim about 10 years ago it was truly sad he was obviously on something and the show was not only short but a disaster. i still listen to his music because he wrote some of the most beautiful songs ever written. i hope hes doing good.

Sly, was gifted talented musician, what a waste of talent, I feel for you Sly ,But it just shows u did not listen to your own strong soul an funk music, you let us your Family down. Hope one day you find your Self or what ever your looking for.

I remember when Sly Stone was a DJ for radio station KDIA in the Bay Area. That how far Sly goes back.
He was not at KDIA. He was at KSOL.
Actually, he was at both. He did a short stint at KDIA just as Dance To The Music hit.
My dad told me about him back then. Hid daughter is a DJ now and wow what a fantastic legacy she is to him.

Wow... look at sly... unbelievable...
You caught me smiling, any time i hear the FAMILY. THANK ALL.
Sly was a musical genius & a power house performer. The ravages of drugs, horrible results.
Lots of talent, but his weakness was his downfall.
He basically led an undisciplined life. The evidence speaks for itself. What's amazing to me is that he's still alive. I thought he'd died a long time ago.
We all have weaknesses.
Damon Wayans should play Larry Graham in any movie containing Larry! The resemblance is uncanny!
Their surname was/is Stewart not Stone

I been doing oxycodone since 2003 and I'm perfectly fine .... Where is Sly right now ...
Drugs suck.
Questlove is making documentary right now. A real one not a fluff piece. I wish he could have interviewed Cynthia before she passed
Cynthia Robinson was ahead of her time RIP

It doesn't matter how Sly has changed.
Everybody gets old.
it doesn't change the fact that the guy was a genius.
thank you for your truth I completely agree!
This was very well put together. i’ve seen videos where the timelines were out of whack. This was done very nicely.
Sly Stone DID not age well, he looks terrible. It's really good that as far as we know is STILL ALIVE.🤔 👁️👁️
Sly was on drugs. He looks bad from hard living, drugs and partying. He didn’t take care of himself.
Sly looks good to me!
@@patriciabarwiolek9826 Word up! Especially with all that he has been through! So happy that one of my Superheroes is still with us!
I think Sly looks decent considering what he’s put himself through. Look at Sly then look at the guitarist from the Stones. Not many wrinkles.
The last I heard, Sly is living in a van and still creating music. . . very much like myself.
