The fact that you have no comments and very few followers is criminal. Your video answered some key questions for me.
    Appreciate your content.

I appreciate the compliment! I personally was thinking of trying to use a different editor because I felt like the transitions were too aggressive...like a video ad or something. But glad you like it!

Is it necessary to find a niche? What if I don’t really have a niche as my previous experience was in commission sales?

    • @JonChintanaroad
      @JonChintanaroad  Месяц назад +1

Great question. I do think it's important to have a niche, even a high level one, so that when a prospective client asks "Which roles do you specialize in recruiting?" your answer won't be "Oh I can fill any role".
If you have prior sales experience, then perhaps a boutique recruiting business specializing in placing roles within a sales department could work well. (Ex- Account Executives, Account Managers, Sales Engineers, Technical Account Managers, Business Development Reps, Sales Development Reps, Sales Managers, Etc)
Let me know if this helps!

What if we dont have a LinkedIn? Can we still do this? If we get one and its sparse would that be a turn off to hiring managers/hires?

    • @JonChintanaroad

It's important to have a LinkedIn account with 500+ connections ideally.
Most hiring managers want to see that a recruiter has a large network of candidates. So if you have just just a couple of hundred connections, they might assume that either you're new to LinkedIn...or have a very small network.
Both would put you at a disadvantage if you're trying to win new business for your recruiting agency.
Hope this makes sense...let me know if you have any other questions!

    Hi Jon,
I am new to this and wondering how to secure candidates when I do not have any clients, yet? How to get candidates interested when I am so new to the market (as a franchisee) and do not have any clients, but working on the B2B side as well. Appreciate your help. Thank you :)

This is a common "chicken or the egg" problem for recruiting entrepreneurs. There's a few ways to tackle this.
You could call a candidate and say something like "You and I haven't spoken before but I have a potential client who might be interested in someone with your type of background. I'm not sure if you're even open to exploring new opportunities, but let me know if you might be open to having a brief call to discuss"
Anyhow, I hope this points you in the right direction!

Quite honestly, this is disrespectful to people who have spent their entire lives building this skillset.

hey jaime, I think there might be a misunderstanding here.
As someone who as personally spent 10+ building up the skillset of recruiting by working in both corporate and agency recruiting environments, I always try my best to convey that being successful at recruiting requires the development of a wide variety of skills at a high level.
You can't shortcut the skill development process. It takes time.
But when it comes to branching out as an independent/freelance recruiter, the steps are fairly simple. It's just a scary idea for most people in general to start their own business.
And up until recently, entrepreneurial recruiters haven't had the resources or help available to start their own recruiting business.
I certainly remember struggling for a long time making mistakes, getting rejected, and running into walls and WISHED that I had someone in my corner who could mentor and help me.
