Yeah, that's something! Hopefully, the heavy winds will stimulate the trees to grow faster!

I live on the prairies, I know wind and feel very much for what you experienced. You've sure done an incredible job with the shelter belts, that's something my pioneer ancestors used here on the open prairies, as well. I remember many a tale of my parents and grandparent's generation tying ropes between the house and the barn .. those winds, like you experienced, in the winter can be blinding.
So glad everyone's ok. Excellent channel, really appreciate your wisdom.

I'm glad this isn't Instagram and you show things as they are! We had similar weather last weekend here in NZ with a similar result for our chook house: completely flipped on its roof. Your videos on shelter belts have hence been very timely.

Must have been one heck of a scare for the poor ducks …. I’m glad they’re okay.

You will get at least one event like this every year from now on. Build accordingly. I speak from experience 😢 👍

Great seeing a new video from you both.
I've often wondered about tree cover in Scotland. Many landscapes that I see are relatively devoid of trees.
Was your area once forested or is its current state reflective of your local area?
Your shelter belts are coming on really well. How long have the more substantial trees been in the ground?

This land was cleared a very long time ago, some people claim it started as early as the late neolithic. The first trees went in during spring 2018, and are really making a difference now.
