    A place you might enjoy in the CBD is the Maritime museum. It is free to Auckland residents, usually hardly anyone there plus many things for kids to touch.
    In east Auckland there is the Howick historical museum, a slice of Auckland history. There is lots of room to run around with lots of incidental learning.

    I can remember our family making the long drive up to those West coast beaches when I was a kid (a long time ago ) and coming home with a sack of mussels or cockles. Can't do that these days, the rocks have been pretty much picked clean by too many greedy people. Probably lucky if you see a crab in the rocks now too, but then I haven't been up that way for a while, so maybe it's improved.
    Another place to visit might be Macnut Macadamia farm and cafe at South Head, up past Helensville.
    A bit further on is Shelly Beach, and some lake as well I think. Also some hot pools at Kaipara, not sure what they are like these days though.

    Not far from he Botanic Garden is Totara Park - Bush walks, mountain bike trails and in the summer a lap pool and toddlers pool.
    Also while in South Auckland, visit some of the local bakeries & takeaways - some very different foods to what you are used to and incredibly cheap too. The car park on the corner of Bairds and East Tamaki roads has a good selection at the town centre there. All 100% vegetarian, they have been there over 30 years. Go there early for lunch - various curries served on a pressed metal tray. Their sweets and snacks are extremely good too. Being early for lunch is important - they make a batch of 4-5 curries each day & when it's gone that's it, it's not their main business. Sweets n Snacks always available though.

    Hi Becca, I live on the Shore, we seldom go to CBD, some time passing it when we go to Mission bay or wondering around at Wynyard Quarter. I often walk the Takapuna beach with my boys, but I have to say Milford beach is much better, the sand is finer and no much shells, so perfect for swimming in the summer. I love the Zoo too, definitely recommend you go yourself. Also Rangitoto Island is amazing too.

    You've definitely seen a lot of Auckland!
    And a very good and extensive list too 👌
    Another term for central Auckland is the "inner city" or "inner city suburbs". If you live in Mt Eden, that's definitely considered inner city. Central Auckland includes the entire isthmus.
    Unlike the US, inner city doesn't have bad connotations here. In fact, many of the wealthiest areas in the country are in the inner city.
    Also not sure if you've noticed, but the word 'suburb' has a slightly different meaning to what it means in the US.

    • @Becca.Loveless
      @Becca.Loveless  Год назад

      We have seen a decent amount of Auckland but I definitely feel like there’s so much more for us to discover.
