- In this video we set out towards eastern sierras for fishing and camping, but unfortunately most of the campgrounds were closed so we ended up staying at hotel one night and come home early. our trip was short, but we managed to cut few brown trouts at the canal that runs behind the city of bishop , this location is day use only.

While a hotel stay was not planned, it added a touch of luxury to our adventure
The Eastern Sierras never disappoint
Despite our limited time, we were able to enjoy the natural beauty of the area
It's all about adapting and finding joy in unexpected moments
Sometimes the most memorable trips are the unexpected ones
👍👍👍
🙌
The canal fishing was a highlight of our brief trip.
The Eastern Sierras know how to make every minute matter.
Nice fish. Looks like a relaxing time. Thanks for sharing!
Thank you , yes it was I wish we could camp there but it was day use only. Definitely recommend to visit that spot :)
@@Overlandjourneys Drove by there late last year and wondered if anyone would noticed if I stayed the night. Was very tempted. LOL
Honestly there was a local I asked about it and he is like la water power comes and patrols this place ones in a while but it’s not the worst thing if they find you coming here lol
@@Overlandjourneys Yeah,in these times, we don't want to be pushing the envelope too much. Back in the old days of wild, my buddy an I actually, cut a travel trailer, into a giant thicket, and stayed there for months on DWP land.
@@JEM133 those were good old days , now you can’t go anywhere. There are gates and signs everywhere in california.
That’s a sickkk build on the jeep bro .. just got a 392 looking to do something similar .. are you from the valley? Subscribed to your channel 🤙
Thank you brother , I’m from Glendale :) you can’t go wrong with 392 , congrats
By the way try to manage the weight you put on it , the engine has the power to handle it but I heard transfer case can’t so keep it light , mine I put to much weight on it .
Thanks Aper! Oh yeah I don’t want to lose the quickness too much .. will start with some simple stuff see how it goes

I when to the Cannel in April and had a great time Sucks everything was closed
I know but now it’s open , we are going to Monache meadows Saturday , going after golden trout . I’ll post the video next week
Hey,you found our old waterski behind the truck, spot.
I'm from Bishop, there's also good brown fishing, and bass fishing, in the canal.
We made the most of our short trip to the Eastern Sierras
These canals may also have carp largemouth bass and owens suckers in them
No kidding I had no idea , I only caught brown trout .
Where is this??
Bishop , check in description I have the exact location 📍 there just copy past it on google maps :)
@@Overlandjourneys can you check location? When I enter it the coordinates it comes back by Little Tujunga Canyon Road
@@conradoreyes3748 try this 37.34672, -118.38872
@@Overlandjourneys awesome. I got a camping trip in August by lake Sabrina but will try hitting this spot maybe in next weekend
@@conradoreyes3748 try deferent spots on that canal , and nigh crawler worked well last time I was there :) good luck
You are supposed to wet your hands before grabbing the fish!!!😢
I do always
find a real stream there are a ton out there not a Canal .
Next time for sure but if you know a special spot let me know ;)
The river and creeks are blowing out due to the record snowmelt. Bishop canal is a great spot to catch some fish but it gets crowded like everywhere up there now a days.
Most of the lakes are still closed roads are closed also to get to higher up streams, I think maybe in a month or two will be good to go back, will see I really wanted to go to laurel lakes but I heard the road might be gone after snow melt
@@Overlandjourneys yes I’m heading up there in a few weeks. Not sure what to expect but hoping I can still catch some fish.
I would lag it as much as I could , the snow I saw it will take a while to melt but Owens river is open , intake 2 is open and convict lake also Crowley lake
If I'm not mistaken it's artificial only on those rivers
No it’s open season in the canal , 5 limit.
@@Overlandjourneys you can pinch the barbs of your hooks if u intend on release the fish. love the video and your camping rig!
I was looking for rainbows to catch and cook, I had no idea there were brown there or els I would of for sure . Thank you , been dreaming and planing for it for while but eventually it happen 🙏.
