      Thank you 😜♥️
      In case you need more, there is an older video I made in the same format here ruclips.net/video/CuW0q4vlmZs/видео.html
      I didn't had the time to record a 2024 updated long tutorial but for sure I will come with a 2025 by January. I hope so.

    "Prone to making errors." Whelp, that describes my life. Haha, thank you for this video, I've always been interested in trying via ferrata. Maybe I'll try the touristy ones in Banff and see if I like it, but this video has been a great primer. Thank you.

    The only other thing I would say to beginners is plan/research any route before you go, either find a topo map, or route description, or RUclips video so that you know how long it is, and how hard it is. No beginner should start a D (4) or E (5) grade route without prior experience. Try to go with someone in the early stages for guidance & safety. In Switzerland we have many routes with over 400 vertical meters so resting is vital.

      Excellent advice. Once you start a Vía Ferrata it is a commitment and many times there is no going back. There may or may not be "Escape Routes" but maybe only one or two along the entire route, and they may not be close if you are in over your head.

      Thank you @Nik. I hope you will find the Via Ferrata experience one to want repeating each time you have the opportunity. To me, is my way of staying healthy and having some sort of balance. I spend a lot of my time in the big city and then I'm going to the beach and gym, hiking, skiing, Via Ferrata, mountaineering, city breaks. This mix helps with balance and health. Alpine Mountaineering and Via Ferrata are the two activities that keep me on my toes and make me totally disconnect from stress and toxic thoughts.

      @@JetSetYourself What carabiners are you using on your resting lanyard? And why?

    • @JetSetYourself
      @JetSetYourself  Год назад +1

      I use Petzl Vertigo Wire Lock, Climbing Technology K-Classic, Singing Rock K5330PE. Singing Rock and Climbing Technology carabiners are (I will say) identical. Singing Rock by far the more affordable. Why don't I use only Petzl Vertigo WL? Because they are expensive, sometimes hard to find but most because I need cognitive separation. In case of emergency I need to be able to fast identify visually or by touch what side of the lanyard I am about to use. The more gear I put on me and the fast paced the need for action I need queues to properly identify the items. Keeping them diverse helps. I've tried using only Petzl but I was always confusing one lanyard over the other. Both Petzl/Singing Rock-Climbing Technology do the job very well and at the end they are almost identical. I explained why I don't use only one brand. Why do I use this type of carabiners? Because they are Via Ferrata rated. Easiest way to snap. I have with me carabiners locking differently, they can be used to progress or for fast action but not as easy. Just to touch a point, for frequent, quick movement snapping or corsslocking or whatever system other than screw-lock is better.

      @@JetSetYourself I just ordered a Petzel Connect Adjust as it can be easily adjusted to whatever rest length you want

    • @JetSetYourself
      @JetSetYourself  Год назад +1

      Greg I always restrained myself from recommending that because it can get a beginner into trouble. I see from where your initiative comes. I have the Petzl Connect Adjust, I just bought the Petzl Duo Connect Vario but I only use them for rock climbing and rappelling. On Via Ferrata it might be that it slips when you urgently need that to hold you. Nothing bad will happen but the scare and maybe small injuries for beginners will occur. Also, if the length is too much or not enough and now you have to think instead of already expecting something might delay you in acting. I'm not writing this to say it is a bad buy. I only want readers to understand why on Via Ferrata Petzl Adjust should be used with caution. Will do the job, it is an amazing tool (amazing) but requires some mastery to properly leverage on Via Ferrata.

    JetSet this is a great video, fantastic. It is so easy to become "lazy" during a Vía Ferrata and start executing sloppy and stupid moves. Following your careful approach to Vía Ferrata may take a few minutes more to complete a route but you will be sure to finish!!!!! Thank You I learned some great tips and aedvice.

      Hello @Hobo Wily. I agree with you. There is no point to rush at any time because what is important is the journey, to get to the top safe and healthy.
      Thank you for finding the time and add more to the value of this video through your comment! ❤️

    Hello! Does anybody know where to buy a resting set.? I went onto climbing technology through Google and All that I could find is the whole set with the shock absorber. I already have that. I’m just looking for a resting system only.

      For Europe:
      www.tradeinn.com/trekkinn/en/climbing-technology-ypsilon-sling/136347305/p
      they ship all around Europe. slow but new, fresh, original products.
      I was able to find it on local websites as well.
      If you let me know the country I can search for a recommendation.
      Remember, it does not come with carabiners. You will have to buy them separately.
      Climbing Technology was recently acquired by Skylotec. let's hope products remain as innovative as before and at a good value for money price point.

    NEVER EVER use a static resting sling !!!
    They WILL fail in case of fall.
    Always use dynamic rope sling/system like Edelrid "Switch Adjust", Petzl "Connect Adjust", etc..

    • @JetSetYourself
      @JetSetYourself  10 месяцев назад +3

      Resting implies static load of the sling. There shall be no reason to fall. If properly utilised, a fall shall be static enough to not load the sling to the degree of a rupture of the sling itself or as you say, with dramatic effects on the structure of our body. It is true, dynamic rope can in the right circumstance help. Again, resting systems are for resting and if properly loaded there shall be no reason to get into the edge case scenario you use as a base for your call to action. If wrongly utilised yes, the effects you mention can happen, but these are edge case scenarios. On a bridge crossing a static resting system will not 0ut the climber in any danger if properly loaded. The slack is close to none, in case of a fall the climber will mostly swing. Now, let's suppose that the webbing will break, the climber is supposed at all times on a Via Ferrata to be clipped with the Via Ferrata Set to the safety steel cable. Again, the probability for the static webbing to rupture is low is special/edge conditions are not met.
      For vertical sections, the resting system shall be statically loaded and in this case there is no way of a fall. On vertical segments, the climber shall always stay way below the cable and again, the resting system shall be statically loaded with no chance of dynamic loading.
      The rupture of the webbing is a possibility if overloaded and the loading of it is dynamic enough under the stress of the overload to trigger that.
      If the static resting system is misused and a fall occurs yes, the worst can happen. But again, in this case is not the problem of using a static resting system (recommended for the cases where it is properly used) but of improperly using it.
      Yes, a static sling is meant for static loads. A resting situation is founded on the premise of a static load. The recomandation to employ the help of the resting system (if conditions of zero slack and no possibility of static load are met) is because if properly utilised it increases comfort and safety.
      It is important to understand all these details. It is also important to understand that the role of a resting system is to rest and shall not be utilised for personal protection on Via Ferrata. The only device to always be used on a Via Ferrata for personal protection shall be the Via Ferrata Set.
