    Minticle content again bro! Quick tip, add a skid plate under the trailer to protect all your fittings water system etc, and use food grade hose as the rubber hose makes the water stink. Love ya work! Btw youve got less than 6 mins of water use if u held that hose on full flow. Thats a massive 12v pump. Cheers bud

      Agreed. That silicon (or urethane) on the bottom of the jerrys is a no go for drinking water! Can i suggest that you put a hole in the cap with a tube inside that runs to the bottom of the jerry, it's less likely to leak as the only hole remains at the top, and you wont poison your own water supply with sealants not approved for potable water. Furthermore, this allows you to take the cap off and remove the jerry for easy filling.

    Good job mate. Other ways u can regulate the water pressure are: use a variable dc power dimmer control or use a regulator valve between inlet & outlet of pump so u can easily adjust pressure output via regulating valve. This is why it can be good to have a higher output pump as u have for mud cleaning purposes & consistent flow adjustment for showers , sink, etc, ie; the pump will not cycle if the control valve is open & allows enough water to recycle, this will lower output pressure but keep a steadier flow without the cycling effect.
    Another trick is to have a 2 way valve on the inlet to pump & have a spare hose to attach, so if u can park in or near a fresh river crossing so u can suck water up & into ur tanks to refill on the go. Cheers

    Simple, robust and reasonably flexible - nice solution! I first used an expandable hose but similar to a spiral hose, they can be deceptive in how much water they hold, which is usually wasted when you disconnect it. I've changed to 2m of "regular" 12mm ID hose because losing the 250ml-ish that it holds feels like an acceptable compromise between the convenience of a longer hose.
    It's also not a major issue but I found that dirt collected in the water outlet when travelling and then clogged up the sprayer nozzles, so I made a stopper with a cheapo female connection.

    Trailers looking awesome mate! Suggest putting isolators on each tank. If you have a failure on one all your water will drain out of them all.

    Chuck a garden hose plug fitting ontop of your jerry. Then you just clip the garden hose up, turn the tap on and walk away to do something else while tanks fill up.

    Looking good mate, I would remove all the ball valve and normal garden fittings idea and put in Nitto fittings. Therefor you don't need the ball valve's and you can keep the system on if you want to at camp and you will only get flow if something is actually plugged in, also alot more durable than plastic garden fittings.. Its what most systems use in caravans and trailers with water connections.

    A few things is that hose going through he floor will rub through... trust me I know.. also that fitting on the bottom will get damage if not from scaping against something a rock being thrown up will smash it.. and one last thing I would have just modified my jerry can holder to allow for the original tap as its an easy mod.... Ive build 2 campers now and worked on caravans doing repairs so have experience.. Im enjoying your build and its given my ideas for my third camper I am slapping together for Googs track in July. Keep the Vids coming dude I am enjoying them mate !!

    you should weld in some poles inbetween the supports underneath the tent so you could strap down some gear on the lid. alot of space there you could use for an overflow

    Put your pump in a waterproof housing like a pelican case and install a drain line out the bottom of the trailer.
    If you blow a line and water will be contained and drain out through the drain line to the outside, protecting your electronics

    Looking good mate! I was thinking 11LPM pump would be a bit much . . . might be better off with a 4LPM pump. My only real concern would be the hose not being food safe and I'm guessing you will be getting a plastic taste coming through from it. There is some great clear hose with wire reinforced walls available from catering equipment wholesalers etc that I've used thats not too expensive and is brilliant to use.

  • @marceld6061
    @marceld6061 Год назад

    Three suggestions:
    Lower volume pump (1.5L/min enough for camping)
    Accumulator tank after the pump (will minimize the cycling of the pump)
    Potable hoses (clear hose type suitable for pressure systems)
    I'll be incorporating some of your ideas into my build!

  • @peterbest2434
    @peterbest2434 2 года назад

    You can get 13mm food grade reinforced pressure hose from the big green shed. As used for caravan water hose.

  • @nathan100tz
    @nathan100tz 2 года назад +1

    There are garden hose fittings, the bit that goes into the tap or end of the hose (like you have on the back of the trailer) that automatically stop water coming out when you disconnect the hose/fitting. That would solve the problem of the pump pushing water out when no hose is connected to the back.

  • @chucknorris2938
    @chucknorris2938 2 года назад +1

    Awesome mate, you’re going to want to protect those exposed plastic pieces with a bash plate. Any dirt/gravel road will flick hundreds if not thousands of rocks up and they will hit and break anything they touch. Trust me 🤣👍

  • @michaelatkin2562
    @michaelatkin2562 2 года назад

    I am glad you like the pump solution, but it would have been simpler to cut the vertical brace from the jerry holder and weld it back on in an offset position. Then you would have the redundancy of 3 independent jerry cans, and you could pull them out to fill up from a low mounted tap or stream.

  • @12321bennyg

    How do you find the 11LPM pump? I upgraded mine to a 12LPM from 6 and I find that it goes way too hard! What do you reckon?

    Great project! Too bad you didn't mount a Stainless h2o tank to the under carriage (much like a gas tk) centered and forward of the axle? (Would have increased capacity and enhanced stability/ center of gravity). Another benefit would've allowed jerry can rack for fuel. PS- don't forget fire extinguishers ;)

  • @thomasboulton1621

    Tip buy spare micro switchs for the pump or bypass the micro switch and then put a bypass pressure relief pipe inline back to the tanks because after awhile the micro switch will stop working then the pump won't run

    It could have been done better. Tops to you for what you have achieved but, detachable stop valves on the water containers, rubber grommets where the hoses go through the chassis, a lower LPM pump (bigger is not always better), anderson plug covers etc. Fitting outlets with flange into a closed container is easy using a pice of string or thin rope :-)
