If you have to use your gun to protect yourself, how many rounds do you think you'll need?
A Chickasha, Oklahoma, homeowner fired at least a dozen rounds at a home intruder, killing him.
"Our officers received a call of a domestic disturbance at 3015 Westbrook, in which a subject had broken into the home," said Lt. Gillian O'Brien with the Chickasha Police Department. "As the subject made entry into the home, the homeowner opened fire right away."
This Chickasha, Oklahoma, homeowner shot the intruder at least 12 times because there were at least a dozen shell casings scattered across the...floor.
I've taken my fair share of firearm self-defense training courses, and there is one thing every one of these instructors says over and over again....
Keep shooting until the threat is no longer a threat.
Not keep shooting until the person dies, but until that person is no longer a threat.
So going back to the question I asked...
How many rounds do you think you'll need if you have to use your gun to protect yourself?
I don't care how many studies people do on the average number of shots fired in a self-defense shooting.
I don't care how many rounds Joe Biden thinks I need in my gun.
I don't care how many anti-gun Karens scream and yell, asking why anyone needs that many bullets!
I nor anyone else knows how many rounds you'll need to protect yourself if the day ever comes when you are forced to do so.
The goal of self-defense is to survive, and because you only get one of these things we call life, you should want all the bullets in the world to protect that one life, whether it be 15, 20, 145, or 10,000 bullets.
I don't want the fight for my life to be a fair fight.
Because of this, I don't care what it takes, I'm going to do everything possible to make sure I make it home or get you out of my home, and that's what this Chickasha, Oklahoma, homeowner did.

I'm honored to have him as the sheriff where I live. He dumped the whole mag on him for a good reason. The earth is a better place without that scumbag
The objective of self defense is to eliminate the threat, whether it takes one bullet or a hundred.
Firing as fast as you can means, that the body of the criminal cant even register the shock! Its like you hit a dinosaur...the info that the dinosaur has been hit takes 30min to reach the brain.
Better would be to hit the left lower leg, because it hits a vein thats not crucial to life and yet very disappointing for the criminal to be hit there. Two seconds later he will face depression and most likely try to turn away from you. Hitting the nose is the opposite, because it creates endorphines that make that guy virtually unbeatable for a moment. One bullet should be enough to stop a maniac as long as you can hit one of the psychologically active veins.
Another cool idea would be injections, like for animals. You dont fire bullets but instead small arrows that make the threat become slow and incapable of further fighting you.
I love how you explain it, so simple even the anti-gunners could understand that simple logic. And like you said at the beginning I would keep firing my weapon until the threat stops.
That is assuming they work off logic, they do not.
These people can't function on good thoughts.
My mom works with law enforcement a lot as an ER nurse, and every officer she has asked about a self defense shooting has told her this. "If you have to shoot someone in self defense, don't stop firing until the magazine is empty. An empty magazine shows that you were in fear for your life, because people who are afraid of dying don't take the time to count how many times they've pulled that trigger."
I'd be careful about that. Cops can probably get away with it, but you'd better bet that the DA will be evaluating your defensive shooting millisecond by millisecond.
By all means, save your own life first. But if in the haze of instinctual reaction to the threat you realize that the attacker is no longer a threat, definitely stop shooting.
@@bvoyelr there are 2 sides to every story ask the person who was shot 12 times their side but that person is dead and your point is?
Well there have been cases in the past where the homeowner popped the intruder after he was down by standing over him and double tapping him in the head. So yes there are cases. He was charged as well.
I feel it depends on the situation. Every situation is different. There are times one defensive shot will eliminate the threat, but, some situations will require many more than 10 rounds. I FIRMLY believe our political REPRESENTATIVES shall not decide how many rounds I legally should be able to carry, to defend myself, my family, my loved ones, or OUR FREEDOM FROM TYRANTS, foreign and or domestic!!!

Saw a dash cam of a cop in a shoot out where he hit the guy 16 times and he was still coming after him. He reloaded once and the criminal ran back to his car and grabbed a second gun.

@Raylan Givens lol, possible. The days of Godfather are long past though. I was referring to the last 40-50 years.
As a military soldier, I watched myself go through 300 rounds in about 3-5 minutes of a gunfight in training before heading to a war zone while using accurate fire without full auto. To this day I won't go back into a war zone without a bag full of ammo as a minimum backup. Those 45 minute gun fights you hear about on the news literally involve pallets of ammunition in the gun nest.
Break in Someone’s house If you die IT’S YOUR FAULT..Case Closed
Good job to the home owner! 👏
I can't even imagine how terrifying it would be to know you only have about 10 rounds left and you've already shot 30 and you hit the guy almost 15 times and he still hasn't gone down
Thats why I keep a 45 for home defense. They get hit with those bad boys and they're going down!
@@marcrhodes3382 I hope you are correct because that is what I use also.
He said the guy wasn't on any drugs and the officer was using a 45 and has since switched to a 9mm.
@@technine9662 this is the issue with LEO training. Just because you mag dump someone doesn't mean you hit them somewhere that matters. I carry a meaner version of a 45 called 460 Roland. I've used it in defense twice. Damned dangerous. Blew an 8 in hole in an aspiring car jacker. One shot placed center mass. With that placement it could have been 9mm and been ok. 4 inches lower and I would be wounding not killing my target. Big bullets are great but placement is what will save you
You need to hit him 8n the head, every once in a while, in case he's a zombie of something.
Well said
"How many rounds do you think you'll need?"
All of them.
I have read that story about the cop that [now] carries 145 rounds on him. That story is something; and it makes sense. He was in the emergency room being treated nearby the criminal that was trying to kill him before. He could hear the doctors asking "why did he shoot him so many times?" and he was thinking to himself, the obvious answer to that question about just getting that same man to stop trying to kill him.
Yes I remember that as well. Before that the Dr said we might as well stop because every unit of blood we give him just ends up on the floor. After that is when he made the statement about why the cop had to shoot him so much. Apparently the bad guy also had an SKS Rifle in the front seat of his vehicle, if he would’ve got out firing that at the Officer rather than the handgun he used, it most likely would’ve ended right then & there with the Officer killed before he could’ve even returned fire.
I'm so jealous of you wonderful people who can carry. I live in pos NJ
Man god bless you . From here out . I’m supporting you 150%.
"I don't want the fight for my life to be a fair fight!" Love it
Predators don't send emails stating their intentions before breaking into your house, do whatever you have to do to protect your family.
Trust me Mike, I will. You do the same.
Never seen you before. WOW. You are correct. Preach to the people who are allowed to have protection. Wish I hadn’t lost mine
Sorry you lost it.
That's a problem, if you have served your time with nothing but honor and dignity and learned from your event you should have a full restoration of your rights.
If it's ok to ask what happened?
I think he meant, in a boating accident.
@@stevescuba1978 The depths of America's waterways are absolutely LITTERED with weapons, it would seem. Probably more guns than riverstone at this point.

Imagine having the context of hindsight and having the gaul to scrutinize the amount of rounds someone used in self-defense.
Exactly. Until the threat is no longer a threat.
Thank you for pointing out the obvious! If someone is in your house late at night/early morning, they have nothing but destruction to your family.
Protect your family and agree with this outcome.
So the only time there will be a threat to the family is late at night/early morning?
Thank you for your advocacy and your words of advice!
As many rounds as it takes to neutralize the threat.
Right on man, you got all of it straight and right. Nicely expressed and most importantly CORRECT!
Thank you Mr. Noir - always a pleasure watching your videos, and they are very enlightening. I often find myself quoting you when having "discussions" with gun grabbers.
I love the fact you said I’m okay with it as long as he doesn’t hurt anyone else. This points to the fact you understand firearms deeper than most. It’s about the knowledge, the education of your firearm, and the ability to use it effectively. Love your channel!
10,000 rounds sounds like a good start. In every caliber. A wounded adversary is the most dangerous kind.
Amen my brother in arms. Be vigilant. Know your surroundings. Always carry as much ammo as you can. Keep up the excellent work Colion
Thank you for all you do
In the one time I was in a defensive shooting I only needed one round. That's because it was a Rottwieler who was attacking me and my baby son. The dog took off after I narrowly missed it. I think it may have caught some fragments of lead spawling and asphalt. But was not harmed. Neither was my son or me. Neighbors who own dog were very sorry. And no one called the cops.
I give you credit for the way you handled the situation. I might have tazered the neighbor for teaching the ol dog bad manners though.
Don't be modest, Colonel. You killed fitty men and all they got of you was your shins. Even in war, I'd still say that counts as a defensive shooting!
Threat permanently stopped.
I'm a former United States Customs law enforcement Explorer Scout. I asked this question of our post senior inspector and advisor. He said, " you shoot until the threat is eliminated." Same thing in State Corrections where I have attended two basic training academies. You shoot until the threat is eliminated.
You be on point every time. We are lucky to have your channel.
You need as many rounds as possible to bring down a threat.
Yep. I saw a video of an Australian police officer that fired 12 rounds point-blank at a man. The man's toxicology results came back clean. He was 100% sober. The dude took 10 rounds to the chest and continued to approach the officer, and made it to grappling distance before dropping. This is an example of why police mag dump. If police can do it, why shouldn't law-abiding citizens?
I don't see a bunch of criminals lining up to break into that house anymore. Job well done.
It takes as many as it takes! Lesson here is, don’t break into other peoples houses!
