My son and I have this set. We're working through it and found this video. We had our heads in our hands when the pieces were painted whilst still on the frames. It's so obvious and easier!
Yes, sometimes the small parts are easier to paint before gluing them together, other times its easier to glue them first - really depends on what the parts are
I've built a few of these over the years and I think this kit is the best early mark P-40/Tomahawk in 1/72. Yours finished up very nicely indeed! You have some real modeling talent!
@@matty82003 haha, yeah no doubt that italian biplanes were good! Just not really meant to fight modern day monoplanes that can go twice their speed in a straight line

Nice build mate if your low on budget take a trip to Aldi before the end of Christmas they have airfix starter sets for £4.99 each I’ve picked a few up myself
Hi mate, great job. I'm currently building this model, and I plan on making it a two-seater, which will involve cutting out some of the plastic of the fuselage on which the 'back windows' sit. What do you think would be the best way of doing this? I was thinking of using a hot wire?
Hmmm, that could work. I think I would just stick with a sharp knife and the sanding it down afterwards, but that's just my preference. I'd be interested to know how you get on :)
Thanks for your comment. Other people I've asked have also recommended cutting the plastic rather than melting with a hot wire, so I'll give that a go :)
Just got this kit as I went in hobbycraft and saw the air fix section and bought 3 models also is the kit a good fit together adding the fuselage to the wing section because some recent models that I built aren’t particularly very good fits in this step
Another great video and I’ve bought this kit as another starter project. Could I ask, when painting the fuselage/wings, do you just do one coat of thinned acrylic? I may have missed it but just after confirmation. Regards and thanks for the videos.
I built this model this week, it was the only 1/72 kit they had in my local model shop so i decided to try it. Iam happy with the final result but the overall building of the plane I found to be un interesting, its a sad thing to say, maybe it was to do with the fact that the Tomahawk, or this colour varient, isnt one of my favourite aircraft. But at least it was something to pass the time with u know?
Yeah, sometimes they can become a bit repetitive - i've actually built two of these now, this one and the Battle Of Britain style one ruclips.net/video/sEoesSFgRRg/видео.html and I found the second one to be a bit more fun! Exactly the same kit, just seemed to be more fun to build. I know you've got to build something you're interested in, sometimes that can be the first barrier to get past
Hot_Doggerz glad you enjoyed! I like the p40 because it was a bit of an underdog, all the glory being taken by spitfires and p51s. But the contribution the p40 made to the war effort was invaluable

ADrian Cabrera thanks for watching! The wheels can be assembled up (as depicted in my video) or down. Airfix include both options in the design of their kits
Hi, can you explain the dry painting silver process. I am just getting back into model making for the first time since I was a child. Have bought a couple of kits and trying to pick up the bits and bobs for weathering etc. Any help or links to videos would be great.
Dry brushing? it's pretty simple, put paint on the brush, then on a paper towel (or something like that) just brush all the paint off again. The brush should now feel dry. Use this on the model and only the residual paint on the brush will be picked up by any raised details
Hello i want to make my first model kit Im using a acrylic for painting my model. And i want to ask some question to you. Did you thinned the paint before painting? Waht is the ratio between the paint and the thinner for the acrylic?. And did you recommending to use the primer paint before painting with brush? Thank you
Zhafran Nabil great questions! It depends on the plastic and paint, but a primer can be a good idea to help the next layers stick to the plastic. I tend to thin my paint 2 parts paint to one part water. If you would like more information, I mention these thing in my beginner guide videos ☺️
Zhafran Nabil again that depends on the paint and how much you thin it. I find that with my ratio it might take up to 3 coats. But if it’s thinner it may require mpre
