@@enohp660 This was in the late 80s/early 90s when you couldn't just gamble from an app on your phone. You had to physically go to gambling dens or be in the same city as a bookie and a loanshark. We ended up moving to the boonies when I was 4 to get away from it all. It took a while, but being away from temptation and the source of your addiction is a huge part of recovery, any addictions counsellor will tell you that. That's the problem with these modern gambling apps, there is basically no escape as long as you have a phone and an internet connection. Not only that, but the apps and advertising are all designed by UI/UX engineers to hook you and keep you coming back. Back then the people you dealt to gamble with were criminals, but they had more of a code than these new gambling corps and banks do. They would cut you off and maybe rough you up, but you wouldn't walk around with a mountain of credit card or bank debt hanging around your neck. We're going to see the result of mass gambling addiction in a decade or so and it's not going to be pretty I'm for legalized gambling btw, its just irresponsible to let some greedy corp handle it
So I've tried to respond to the above comment a few times now, but it's been removed every time despite having no swear words or personal attacks. I feel like it’s important to respond though, as I believe this gentleman’s opinion is wrong and ill informed My story here occurred in the late 80s and early 90s, back then you couldn't just gamble on your smartphone, you had to physically go to an illegal gambling den or a casino and be in the same city as a bookie/loan shark. When I was 4 my family moved to the boonies from the city for this reason, and under those circumstances my dad was able to recover. When dealing with addiction, escaping the temptation of enabling friends and the source of your addiction is essential for recovery, there’s no addiction counselor in the world that won’t tell you that. It’s why rehab centers typically aren’t in the middle of skid row or in Las Vegas That’s why modern sports betting apps are so dangerous, they make it so anyone with a smartphone and an internet connection can gamble. They’ve also spent billions of dollars on advertising and UX design to hook a new generation on gambling and keep you playing. These corporations are doing this knowing that in a decade or so we will have to deal with the fallout of mass addiction, just like the Sackler family did with opioids and the tobacco industry did with cigarettes. I’m all for legalized gambling, but allowing greedy corporations and tech giants to monopolize it is no different than leaving it to organized crime. It needs to be responsibly administered
He is very known these days. I bet they told him NO, not this video 😂😂. The NBA is well aware of his channel. Prize picks don't wanna hurt they bag lmao.
Excellent video as always! I'm less concerned with fringe players fixing games, than referees fixing games, because they will never make what players make, and can affect the pace and the outcome of the game in subtle ways throughout the course of the game. The danger of fixing elements of the game is amplified by the fact that you can bet on almost anything throughout the game, so individual things like the over/under for a quarter, or a player prop for a half could be manipulated without really standing out. The NBA already gives mandates on what it wants officials to call/not call, but in the last month we've seen games where the totals ranged from 152 (Sixers 79, Knicks 73) to 295 (Lakers 150, Pacers 145 (no OT)), that seems like an extremely wide range, and can't be solely due to the energy levels of the respective teams. The fact is that NBA games (and other sports as well) have gotten significantly weirder since gambling was legalized and became more prevalent. The microscope on referees has intensified, the injury reports started resembling those of the NFL and the players have started taking days off for load management to the point where the NBA had to put into effect rules to keep them from sitting out too many. We've seen unexpected late scratches of players, and games where half the team is listed as DTD so you have no idea how many key players will be out. You don't have to rig every play to rig a game against too evenly matched teams. Just a couple of little calls here and there can make the difference, and swing the odds and momentum in the favor of one over another,
what sets this channel apart is its dedication to a morally good league! without endless betting spoonsors etc.! oh wait...he does it every video every time for more than a minute

Makes ya kinda wonder why Draymond got himself tossed out of the game at under 4 minutes into the game. I wouldn't put it past him to do it for gambling purposes.
Anyone else find it funny that the Lakers free throw differential the last 2 years (including playoffs) is +1,017 while the 2nd place team is the Knicks at +358 then the Bucks in 3rd at +344??? If that isn't the NBA itself completely cheating to make sure LeFraud gets into the playoffs I don't know what is.
@CMC_editzzz At what point of me insinuating that the "NBA" is setting him up for success is blaming him for it??? Learn to read please, and I will continue to talk sports as I see fit, but thanks for your input lol.
@CMC_editzzz Yes I did because I can't stand the guy, but in no way was that an accusation of him. My gripe with the free throw issue is with the NBA and it's officials not him. He has nothing to do with what the refs do and don't call (as far as I know) but never once was I accusing that of being his fault he is just the beneficiary of said calls.
It’s just play style bro they live inside the three on offense and they make opponents shoot threes, those are the perfect combo for free throw differential
I mean it kinda makes sense. Lakers best scorers are Lebron and AD, 2 big men who get their points near the basket. Every other team basically shoots 3s. The closer you are to the basket, the more likely you're going to get fouled.
Jontay also runs a $49 private discord that gives stock advice and bettign advice on ncaa and some nba games. Its possible that high rollers of the discord got in on the porter unders in question.

I think it's unlikely a top 100 player would get involved in something like this. They get paid so much that it's worth so much more to them to just play well and get a big contract payday.
Since the advent of players prop betting a vast majority of players know their individual prop numbers and play accordingly. Before gambling was allowed, the gambler, the "company", and the player holds the responsibility. But now, it's only the players responsibility. The company is simply saying "Hey i lost money, therefore this player must be rigged" to issue an investigation to ruin a player's life. Imagine this happening in the finals and this could very likely affect the final result. As for Porter, nba analysts aren't stupid. Gambling legalized or not, they can at least know he is hurting the team instead of helping the team. He ain't getting contracts and this is the ultimate punishment.
I remember Dejounte Murray had a discount on his points on Prizepicks on St patty’s day. He went over and I won but how he hit the over on his points prop was just so suspicious. Literally the hawks were up and they took all the starters out besides Murray and he hit his point prop in garbage time with two free throws then he got a personal foul and finally got subbed out right after hitting those free throws. Earlier in the day they released a Jokic and Rozier discount. Jokic was one of the three that didn’t hit their over on those discounts, and to me my lil theory is if murray didn’t hit his over, a lot of people would delete that app so they def made a call before or during the game to make sure he went over and they also like that viewership money so they had him hit in the last quarter with very little time left in the game. I have many instances where I placed a bet and it hit and it didn’t feel “real”. One of those instances was a jahmir Gibbs TD during the nfc championship game with the lions vs 49ers. Somehow I just knew deep down he would score a TD and the 49ers just let him walk right in and I was like ok Buddy that sureeee seemed real. Remember I won these bets and something just seemed so off about those wins. After Murray hit that discount I just knew I was done spending my own money on these gambling sites and it’s not even worth it anymore. Idk about y’all but some stuff that happens in sports don’t even seem real to me anymore. Anyways just want to wish y’all a great day and stay blessed!

We're going to see the result of mass gambling addiction in a decade or so and it's not going to be pretty
I'm for legalized gambling btw, its just irresponsible to let some greedy corp handle it
So I've tried to respond to the above comment a few times now, but it's been removed every time despite having no swear words or personal attacks. I feel like it’s important to respond though, as I believe this gentleman’s opinion is wrong and ill informed
My story here occurred in the late 80s and early 90s, back then you couldn't just gamble on your smartphone, you had to physically go to an illegal gambling den or a casino and be in the same city as a bookie/loan shark. It’s why rehab centers typically aren’t in the middle of skid row or in Las Vegas
That’s why modern sports betting apps are so dangerous, they make it so anyone with a smartphone and an internet connection can gamble.
Where’s the PrizePicks ad?!
You mean underdog 😂
Lol

@@robertheadley3483 Ur not gonna sit there and tell me 400k isn't a sufficient salary for someone who plays 40 minutes a season. That guy can still comfortably retire early on that salary alone, forgetting about the sponsor deals I'm sure he gets.

I think the NBA will probably throw Jontay out permanently if the allegations are true to show themselves as being a league of integrity. Future stars in such a situation would probably see their scandals swept under the rug like Michael Jordan's were in the 90s.

Anybody who bets on a game they play in should be banned for life.
@CMC_editzzz All good brother just a misunderstanding
It’s just play style bro they live inside the three on offense and they make opponents shoot threes, those are the perfect combo for free throw differential
I mean it kinda makes sense. Lakers best scorers are Lebron and AD, 2 big men who get their points near the basket. Every other team basically shoots 3s. The closer you are to the basket, the more likely you're going to get fouled.

I think it's unlikely a top 100 player would get involved in something like this. They get paid so much that it's worth so much more to them to just play well and get a big contract payday.
Before pumping up your next video, would be nice to give us an outcome on this one. What happened to Jontay porter?
NBA already with some calling it the RBA and the incredible discrepancy in free-throw attempts for the Lakers
Since the advent of players prop betting a vast majority of players know their individual prop numbers and play accordingly. Have receipts of how many times players have approached their prop numbers with just one more play to surpass the betting half point hook and JUST NOT PERFORMING OR TAKEN OUT THE GAME TO NOT PASS THE BETTING HOOK.

2:17 what Sportsbook is that? Looks like a movie theater!
Circa sportsbook in Las Vegas. It’s even bigger in person

Dejontay Murray can't be trusted 😆
@@Gurenn83 Literally lol
Be careful, the left might try and cancel you.

Legalised gambling in the US -> bye bye US.
I remember when gambling was legalised in the state of Victoria in Australia back in the mid 90's. The then head of World Vision Australia, Reverend Tim Costello, spoke out against it claiming that it will ruin peoples lives (gambling addictions leading to broken marriages, increase in domestic violence, increase in crime, increase in permanent self harm). He was laughed at and ridiculed, written off as a religious do gooder. 10 to 20 years later, he was proven right.
FYI, I was 17 when they legalised gambling in Victoria, and it ruined my life till I found Jesus
"finding Jesus" = gambling to get into Heaven.

Yet Tim Donaghy and his goons were fixing games under Stern…It’s gonna happen
