Been sitting on this review for a while! I made this over a month/month and a half ago (quality of vid might not be as good as more recent videos). Check it out and let me know what you think. Unfortunately, Comet didn't get round to answering my questions. They've been uber busy! Maybe they will over time. Also, check out the write up! As always, I have been more articulate and descriptive in it. Cheers
Hey man! I watched this video a year ago after skating for the first time ever and placed an order for this board shortly after. Due to COVID set backs it took 11 months for me to get my board, but it was worth the wait! This board is everything you said it would be and happy to have my hands on it this summer. Keep up the good work and thanks for introducing me to my new hobby of skateboarding!
That was a fantastic video. You explain yourself incredibly well and I find it very helpful. You-re an excellent teacher. I haven't ridden in over thirty years now and this is one of the boards I am thinking about getting.
I got to ride a friend's Comet Cruiser a few weeks back ; an amazing board , this video is very accurate in it's details & review keypoints about the setup/experience of it. 🤙🏻
I skated a comet cruiser as the last giants head free ride and ive been trying to get one ever since! it is definitely the best cruiser board and maybe my favorite dh board too, its incredibly stable at 30mph+ I love this thing!!!
That's how I ride my Paris trucks. Similar at least. I use a Krank 93a Riptide Barbell No washer BS and a Krank street cone RS. I'm digging the specs on that board!!! Awesome content!!
Interesting! What's the reason to not use the BS washer? I'm sure it changes the feel, but could you explain how? I have a popsicle shaped Comet cruiser board (not this Cruiser, but lower case "cruiser", called the Handle for its cutout handle) I put Paris trucks on and it's not occured to me to remove the washer.
@@ronnienes I don't use the washer for the board side bushing so I can fit the full size longboard barrel there. I've tried those trucks with a lot of combos of bushing. The baseplate has a big enough spot for the bottom bushing that you don't need a washer. I just really like how it feels. They are stable at decent speed but also turn with ease. The kingpin on Paris street trucks are longer than a normal street kingpin so both board side and roadside are basically board side street bushing size with washers. So you can really experiment a lot with them and get them dialed in just right. In my Paris 169s I have the same board side bushing but for roadside I put a stock gullwing bushing. They feel amazing as well. Took a lot of experimenting to get them how I wanted though. I'd suggest everyone play around with their bushing combos and durometer until they have them perfect for them. I weigh 220 so 93a/90a is still very maneuverable but stable for my cruise to work the route I go there is a hill you get up to about 30mph. Not real fast but cool for a lil cruiser board. I have a couple other boards I take out when I want to skate some bigger hills.
I now tried both. The Comet is nimble, agile, light, flexible (not bouncy). The Ripper in comparison, is a stiff, large (!), sedated boat of a board. They are actually both quite nice to ride but incredibly different from one another.
I just ordered the cruiser and I used the discount code downhill254 because I like this guys channel and content!!! they told me it would take 8 month before the send me the board because of c0vid backups. By then summer will be over. but im lookin forward to having a board that can do anything
@@downhill254skate I finally got the board! it took almost a year to arrive!! insane! I like it but I have to get used to it. its not as low as the other board I stared using after I hurt my calf pushing w bad technique.
Thanks for the review man. I watched your review on the Drop Cat 33 ages ago but I finally got mine yesterday, thanks to you. Very unbias options and everything you say is very easy to understand even for someone who has only been longboarding for a couple of months like me. I forgot to subscribe a few months ago when I watched your landyachtz review, but I have subscribed now.
Thanks for your review! Came across your channel when i was researching on longboards. You have made me a fan of your work! Love how thorough you are with your reviews and the technical break downs are great! By the way how would you compare these to surfskate skates? Does this cruiser carver like surfskates? Do you also think this is a ldp capable setup?
Much love man! I've never used a surf skater so I can't say for sure, but it is turny enough that you can pump it and have fun. I usually skate 5km and more with this board, I wouln't recommend it for proper LDP, but it can handle some distance
Great review. I would like to know if the ride height is very high compared to the Dinghy. I am short and it is difficult for me to cruising with high height skates. Thanks to its rocker and flexibility, the height is comparable to that of a Dinghy? Thanks!
Great review! Just ordered the cruiser. It’s gonna arrive in >10 month 😢. I’ll share my experience in summer 23 🤣. Question: Are the bushings the regular venom streets with two small and two medium cones? Thx!
Dude your videos are so good and packed with detail! Question: On a mini cruiser that can take larger wheels, would you recommend 78a 65mm Otang fat frees or 77a 66mm Powell Snakes and why? I'm after speed, comfort and longer rolls between pushes. Cheers!
Thanks! Haven't tried fat frees but hard to go wrong with snakes. I'd go with Dragonskins hehehe. Expensive, not available, but the fastest wheel I've tried in that size. Some of the smaller Seismic Defcon wheels would be a good choice
You have to buy it from Comet direct. It's currently on pre-order only as they're literally a 2 man operation (although expanding now!) Either way, it's a long wait time. I ordered one on May 1 and it will be another 14 weeks or so before it goes to production. I'm still psyched to get my hands on it, eventually. www.cometskateboards.com/product/cruiser/
Can someone help me? I’m looking at a board, either this one or the pantheon. All I want to do on a skate is cruise. Not commute, no tricks… just leaning into big beautiful turns with confidence. Should I get comet or Pan?
If you mean Pantheon Pranayama, go with it (the Pranayama). Big smooth turns with confidence guaranteed. :-) Bought it after a few months into skating learned from scratch and it felt like flying over the ground rather than rolling.
@@downhill254skate just saw this great review and now I want this board 😁 Was thinking to get the Landyachtz Dinghy Tugboat but know I think I have found the perfect board. Hope the waiting time is not too long to get the Comet 😬
Buying this board from the UK means paying $90 shipping which brings the total cost to $365.69. This board is exactly the kind of thing I'm looking for but I'm not sure I want to spend that much just for something to commute on, especially when I already have spare trucks and wheels from previous builds so could just get a different deck for £100 - £150. Is there a cheaper alternative you would recommend for me?
What’s your opinion on very low boards like the pantheon pranayama and 121c carbon boards? I want a compact and very comfy longboard, don’t really like the comet cruisers design but it seems to be what I need
@@downhill254skate so I already got the prana now and I love it and plan on buying sth like the Gaia next. Would the 121c at least be fine as a bad weather board?
i would like to buy one, but it is like 120 dollars shipping to Europe + possible taxes + several months of wait. This board looks amazing but I don't think it is worth 500 dollars and several months of waiting :( I hope they find a retailer in europe
So I bought this board because I wanted a flexy cruiser.... Waited 5 months to get it. And there's no flex at all.... But it rides soooooo well. I'm just confused and disappointed about the flex
