I’ve never once watched a RUclips video about skateboarding or any type of wheel whatsoever. But this was recommended to me and I enjoyed it. Good job on the comparison!
I live and ride in Alaska, and love shark wheels for the terrain. It’s just such a rocky place that shark wheels are the best option, especially on my cruiser board
Before i watch.. Used em for 4 years and they're smooth af and awesome for gravelly and sandy pavement. Haven't hand a stop rock in years. My friends tried em out on very rough terrain and said the difference is insane
These Shark wheels are awesome. I like them. When i ride on smooth surfaces, they are great, they don't drag. For riding on rough surfaces, like asphalt, they are excellent. They last a long time. They are only $50 for all four. I have been running these for 7 months, and i must say. I find the only thing different about these is no drawbacks whatsoever. They allow you to ride everywhere.
I’ve been using a set of 72mm Shark Wheels for 2 years and they are amazing. I love them! I’m buying 95mm wheels for my electric next! Yes, the wheels really knock pebbles out of your path, the ride is smoother, all else equal they’re faster, and after 2 years of use the wear is even and they still ride great!
As someone who has been sliding longboards for 10 years, I can confidently say shark wheels are lightyears away from modern professional slide wheel performance. You will get inconsistent choppy slides and you will most likely crash if you try sliding with them.
Great job on this my man, I've always wondered about these wheels. I have my own theory that it would be better in wet conditions but it also has less of a rubber contact patch area touching the ground so I would think it would wear out faster when sliding. Anyway this is the most thorough review I've seen of it and I have to say you're almost, almost as good as me on skateboard reviews and that's saying a lot lol. Carry on bro
I’m a long boarder!! I love these to death!! They totally make sidewalk bumps and pebbles a lot easier to deal with. I have massive 85mm wheels on one setup (standard cruiser board is only 60mm) that have just a little bit more road feel than the shark wheels. However the sharkwheels definitely have a lower top speed. They also have a break in period.
I been using shark wheels for about 2 years now, and I love how it feels cursing through the Bronx and Manhattan. I cruse 3 days a week to work and this wheels have work for me on wet and dry paviment.
They still doing good(And if you skateboard not long board can you do tricks)? I wanna get these for cruising around Manhattan/riding to school but idk how they’d hold up
Glad this video blew up, its obvious you put alot into your videos and they are very professional! You deserve all the publicity, keep up the hard work my guy
Eh nobody really knew anything about skating when I used them and now that skating is a bit more popular they still don't really care as long as you're just crusing. However my friend did get them and they were a character not many liked and thus they were picked on for having those wheels. That and they...cut up their Walmart board in the shape of a longboard so as to avoid wheelbite...so in my experience you're only gonna get bullied if people already don't like you as a human.

I live in an area that has very rough roads and I can say that the shark wheels do a much better job of going over pebbles and small rocks at high speed, like downhill scenarios. I do agree though that in a flat cruising scenario shark wheels don't make that much of a difference.
This video was very enjoyable for me. Your commentary and critique is very clean cut, not one word is wasted. Your opinion is indifferent, and you’re not biased at all which I found very surprising (no offense). Also your edits are hilarious btw & the intro was fantastic 😂 Keep it up 👍 Subscribed 👍
@Cobalt Nitrate no, this is still bad advice. If you want rain wheels then just get wheels with rain grooves or cut your own. Harfang makes amazing rain wheels. The lip shape of shark wheels is awful. It causes all sorts of problems with sliding or even just riding fast. And all of the benefits you mentioned are literally just due to rain grooves, a feature that you can do to any wheel.
Funny story, I flew to Thailand with a pair of these on the front of my Nickel Board. They wouldn't let me take it carry-on so they put it into a clear plastic bag alongside my checked luggage. When I arrived at my final destination, there was a first sized hole next to one of the shark wheels. I'm guessing they caught the eye of a curious baggage handler at one of the exchanges 😂 I can also say from experience, many people ask about them wondering "why are they square" or "how do they roll".
@@user-ju8bs4hh2c No no no... Sorry, I should have been more clear. Everything arrived perfectly. My best guess is they just wanted a better look at them. To spin then and figure out how the "square wheels" worked 😂
Wow, I never expected to find a video where the reviewer actually thoroughly tested the wheels, and rode them for an extended period of time instead of just giving first impressions, instant sub from me
I remember when these were being designed and their very long drawn out releases. I also remember telling people just to but dirt board wheels or find the wheels that were the Goodyear collab and smaller than traditional dirt board wheels (may be around 80mm, I had them as a kid and saw them get released in my late teens I think). Great video, and I agree with your points, especially about harping on the company for marketing a literal redesign of the wheel. It was obviously a challenge to create and market it, and that alone deserves recognition (especially since it isn't /worse/ than the normal wheel).
A class mate at uni 15 years back wanted to make wet weather wheels and his final design ended up with something almost identical and they work really well in wet, not mint for rull rough terrain put fir those odd pebbles and rocks they are good at shifting them. I think I might still have a pair we cast kicking around
For any concerns regarding my comment: Friction is equal to the friction coefficient times the magnitude of the normal reaction from the ground. There is no dependence on the contact area in there :(
@@mattheoswho1010 Yeah the bearings will impact the "friction" you experience much more than the shape of the wheel. What you want is for the wheel to not slip against the ground, which means you want a higher coefficient of static friction at the wheel, and a low coefficient of kinetic friction where the axle meets the wheel (the bearings).
@@mattheoswho1010 I wasn't saying that kinetic friction in the bearings affects grip - it affects acceleration and speed. I imagine that people buying into the "less contact area equals less friction" argument are thinking that these wheels will make them go faster.
I've only ever been on a board like twice in my life but somehow this showed up in my feed and I genuinely liked the video. So I'm subbing. To a channel for a hobby/sport that I dont do.. Oh well, maybe this will be the start of me doing so. Never too late.
I have them on my surfskate since december 2019. I can definitely say sharwheels are good choice when u dont have super nice roads /or roads are kinda full of little rocks and stuff. There is some weardown on back wheels probably from sliding compared to front ones. And yeah people are asking a lot about them. Like : How can u ride squared wheels 😁
Don't even board but got recommended to you. Great video! Almost makes me want to go get a cruising board just to try these out. Also, you have a great personality, educated process, and great editing. Overall time not wasted and I'm more educated!
I have been using shark wheels for a while now. Where they are amazing is especially on brick paved streets and parks, you get a much smoother ride than traditional wheels on these paves. I won't go back to traditional weeks tbh
I love the shark wheels. Their can roll over small patches of gravel and stuff like thay instead of just stopping like a normal longboard wheel. I don’t do slides so I can’t say for that part
I know literally nothing about skate/longboarding, but I saw this in my recommendations and the wheel's design was odd enough for me to do a double take and click out of curiosity, and I'm very glad I did! You explained everything very well, and I was able to follow along despite having next to no prior knowledge. Great video!
Got a pair of these for my Nickel board a while back, then again more recently as it was bundled with some better bearings than I had. I personally got them because the original wheels on my Nickel were the completely flat ones with a sharp lip edge. When I road on streets around my hometown on the originals, any rock/pebble bigger than maybe 1/8 of an inch or so would stop the wheel in its tracks and screech against the ground. If I was going fast when that happened I’d get jolted forward, sometimes off the board entirely. Since getting shark wheels I haven’t experienced that nearly as often, at the very least needing to hit much bigger rocks to have the same effect. Also, like you mentioned, the grip on wet surfaces is quite good. I use my Nickel to go to classes on my college campus now, so it’s nice to have that extra wet grip for rainy days too. Definitely not a must-have replacement for standard wheels, but definitely worthwhile for daily use
I backed the kickstarter and received 2 sets of shark wheels. The difference in ride wasn't all that significant, but it does seem softer, and less prone to launching me off my board when I roll over a pebble at low speeds. Id say they're worth it for the look alone though, since in my opinion they look pretty sweet.
I was watching some random wheel lock nuts video for cars that was in my recommended and I thought these things were some weird wheel lock nuts too lmao
Im not into skateboarding ..iv never even used one.. yet i got the recommendation and i clicked.. And honestly.. you do great videos. Iv liked and subbed. You deserve to grow. Goodluck.
I really really recommend them for beginners. They prevent slams due to little stones or edges. I feel much more comfortable when skating in the dark. I trust my sharkwheels and am not afraid anymore to take a slam. Thanks a lot for this review.
I have sharks on my board and have had them for about 5 years and they’re still pretty new and I’ve never got pebbled with them on compared being pebbled several times a day with regular wheels where I used to live. They’ve saved me some hand scars. I like them :)
I feel like I learned more about longboards from this one video than from any other source. And seeing as this video is *just* talking about shark wheels, that's impressive.
It's been like 20 yrs since I been on a board, but having seen them around a lot, nothing much has changed in that time. So a new invention like this is cool to see.
Easy way to get the same grip effect shark wheels have with traditional wheels, just cut a few grooves into them a few centimeters deep. There is a reason why cars and even bikes have treads, it gives more grip and control against the ground and in wet conditions. Shark wheels are not a reinvention of the wheel.. They are just a less basic as hell wheel that just looks "cool"
I love in south Florida and the roads here suuuuuuck. In the summer the roads might as well be a continuation of the beach because of how wet and sandy they are. Thanks for clearing up some of the questions I had about these before dropping that kind of money on them!

Yeah, totally get it. Makes sense if that's your riding condition
Me too, but im not sure if i wanna get a long board xause i live on a dirt road
When he said "you feel me?" I felt that
When you said 'I felt that' I felt you
I'm not really feeling any of it because I watched the whole video with the sound off
@@Doubleaa500 lol, you missed a lot. Let me tell you.
The sliding was the only aspect I even imagined might be improved.
Well, they'd also do better on wet roads theoretically, because of the grooves on the wheels.
Made me think the marketing team should've focused on the wheels improving handling, speed and longevity's kinda a non-issue with wheels these days.
Riding over rough asphalt, that's where these "shine."
Folks, they put tread on tires for a reason. This guy just hasn't really checked them out yet.
As someone who has been sliding longboards for 10 years, I can confidently say shark wheels are lightyears away from modern professional slide wheel performance. You will get inconsistent choppy slides and you will most likely crash if you try sliding with them.
@@ianybanez6884 I can see the slides would be choppy and sketchy with these grooves. I would say these would probably be excellent on wet roads
Lol! Appreciate that man 😂 Thanks for watching
I wanna get these for cruising around Manhattan/riding to school but idk how they’d hold up
Same, would love to know since it rains sometimes on my commute home and I’d like to have something to feel safer.
Glad this video blew up, its obvious you put alot into your videos and they are very professional! You deserve all the publicity, keep up the hard work my guy
Thanks a lot dude! So stoked to hear that 🙌🏼
I have them and I really think they are significantly smoother over rough terrain.
the only downside for me is that if i brought these to school i would get bullied to suicide
@Corn Man brb im gonna go take it personally
lmao ( JOKE )
@@swiggity6232 ikr (that was a joke btw please take the joke please im begging you please my life depends on it im so scared for my life right now please take the joke im begging you please)
You guys really shouldn’t make jokes about suicide....
Make jokes about 9/11 instead
I live in an area that has very rough roads and I can say that the shark wheels do a much better job of going over pebbles and small rocks at high speed, like downhill scenarios. I do agree though that in a flat cruising scenario shark wheels don't make that much of a difference.
"To see if they should buy a pair"
(Viewer after buying one): *Wait, I need to buy another one*
This video was very enjoyable for me. Your commentary and critique is very clean cut, not one word is wasted.
Your opinion is indifferent, and you’re not biased at all which I found very surprising (no offense).
Also your edits are hilarious btw & the intro was fantastic 😂
Keep it up 👍
Subscribed 👍
Too expensive but they do look kinda clean tho😂
Yeah that's my conclusion basically. I don't think they are significantly better to justify the price
They have sales on their website all the time. That's why a lot of shops don't carry them.
They are an awful wheel that performs poorly. Regular wheels are better in every way
Test the cheap Wish equivilant :D
@Cobalt Nitrate no, this is still bad advice. If you want rain wheels then just get wheels with rain grooves or cut your own. Harfang makes amazing rain wheels. The lip shape of shark wheels is awful. It causes all sorts of problems with sliding or even just riding fast. And all of the benefits you mentioned are literally just due to rain grooves, a feature that you can do to any wheel.
I have tried it and absolutely agree with every point, good review, thx
Stoked to hear that!
nice video man and woah already 4k!!
Congrats happy for you! 🔥
Thanks man! Yeah it's pretty crazy
I’ve never skated in my life but this is fascinating.
how you goonna be a ceo of tomboys and not skate
“It didn’t rain but, I made my own little puddle” 😂😂
ive had my same set of shark wheels for about 4 years now, still going strong, and i abused the shit out of them, offroad is smooth af
Funny story, I flew to Thailand with a pair of these on the front of my Nickel Board. They wouldn't let me take it carry-on so they put it into a clear plastic bag alongside my checked luggage. When I arrived at my final destination, there was a first sized hole next to one of the shark wheels. I'm guessing they caught the eye of a curious baggage handler at one of the exchanges 😂
I can also say from experience, many people ask about them wondering "why are they square" or "how do they roll".
So they took one of ur wheels? Sucks bro lol
@@user-ju8bs4hh2c No no no... Sorry, I should have been more clear. Everything arrived perfectly. My best guess is they just wanted a better look at them. To spin then and figure out how the "square wheels" worked 😂
I use them on my skateboard for cruising and they are really helpful honestly. I like them a little more than regular longboard wheels 🤷🏼♂️
Too expensive though
Wow, I never expected to find a video where the reviewer actually thoroughly tested the wheels, and rode them for an extended period of time instead of just giving first impressions, instant sub from me
I personally prefer them a lot more especially for beginners cuz it is easier to run over rock or sticks and they gave me more confidence to ride.
Broooo your channel is doing so great. Keep it up!!!!!!😁
Thanks bro! Appreciate that!
I subbed just because the production quality lol
Amazing vid btw
Yoo thank you! That means a lot
Purchased these for my 17yr old. He loves them because they’re good in rough terrain and bounce over sidewalk cracks smoother.
Nice! Yeah there are a lot of people that love these wheels
They dont feel much different. HOWEVER, they do feel smoother and it feels like your floating in a way.
wtf, I came from the pc community. I had no idea there was this many people into skateboard-y things as such as shark wheel. algorithm, logarithm
It's been a pleasure to see you here. Now let's get back to watching some community 3D printed fans on a noctua housing/motor.
me: doesnt skateboard
me: doesnt watch skateboard videos on youtube normally
youtube: do you want to watch skateboard videos?
me: ...*yes, of course*
Ur missing out on skating bro it’s so fun
"Less contact area so less friction"
Phycisists: Whaaa?
For any concerns regarding my comment:
Friction is equal to the friction coefficient times the magnitude of the normal reaction from the ground.
@@travis1240 sorry how does the second (kinetic friction coefficient in bearing) affect grip? I can't see the connection
@@mattheoswho1010 I wasn't saying that kinetic friction in the bearings affects grip - it affects acceleration and speed. I imagine that people buying into the "less contact area equals less friction" argument are thinking that these wheels will make them go faster.
That’s true, more surface area literally means more area for friction to work on! 🐣🐣🐣🐣🐣🐣🐣🐣🐣
If you live in Chicago and you longboard to commute, this is a must. Any added help for the sketchy terrain is needed. So much random debris.
Totally! Even using reverse kingpin trucks or traditional kingpin trucks will help with stability in sketchy terrain
I've only ever been on a board like twice in my life but somehow this showed up in my feed and I genuinely liked the video. So I'm subbing.
To a channel for a hobby/sport that I dont do..
Oh well, maybe this will be the start of me doing so. Never too late.
Pretty sure this channel will become a staple in the skateboarding community in the future
Wow, really appreciate that. Thank you!
maybe in longboarding, still entertaining to watch
You mean long boarding community. Not skateboarding community
Very soon!
Me: hasn’t ridden in years
Also me: I need to watch this entire video.
Same lol
Might check where you left them, maybe they're glowing and calling you
Fr lol nowadays i cant risk a broken ankle and being out of work
Hell yeah another new video!
Out here grinding lol. Thanks for always supporting!
I’m so glad i found this dude. Homie is chill, yet informative as fuck.
Appreciate that!
@@concrete-waves bet bro
I know literally nothing about skate/longboarding, but I saw this in my recommendations and the wheel's design was odd enough for me to do a double take and click out of curiosity, and I'm very glad I did! You explained everything very well, and I was able to follow along despite having next to no prior knowledge. Great video!
4:11 F-FOUR WHEEL DRIFT!?!?
*NO ONE SLEEP IN TOKYO!*
I was watching a robot vacuum review and this was reccomended next so I thought these were like a mod for the shark vaccum lmao
40 year old male: Something about skateboarding I've never seen before? *Click.*
As a member of "where the RUclips algorithm takes me" this is a pretty good video
Ah
I see
The youtube algorithm has brought us together brothers
Im not into skateboarding ..iv never even used one.. yet i got the recommendation and i clicked..
And honestly.. you do great videos.
Iv liked and subbed.
You deserve to grow.
Goodluck.
Hey thanks so much, really appreciate that 🤙🏼
I really really recommend them for beginners. They prevent slams due to little stones or edges. I feel much more comfortable when skating in the dark. I trust my sharkwheels and am not afraid anymore to take a slam. Thanks a lot for this review.
i would like to see this review agian in a year or 2!
Getting this. My homeland has pretty rough terrain.

I have sharks on my board and have had them for about 5 years and they’re still pretty new and I’ve never got pebbled with them on compared being pebbled several times a day with regular wheels where I used to live. They’ve saved me some hand scars. I like them :)
Haven't touched a skateboard in about 12 years and this pops up and looks awesome
it ruins my head, it really looks like they are square wheels
~generic comment about the algorithm but I still watched the video~

“These wheels ruined my life” lmao
I feel like I learned more about longboards from this one video than from any other source.
And seeing as this video is *just* talking about shark wheels, that's impressive.
It's been like 20 yrs since I been on a board, but having seen them around a lot, nothing much has changed in that time. So a new invention like this is cool to see.
I just like the way they look to be honest
Easy way to get the same grip effect shark wheels have with traditional wheels, just cut a few grooves into them a few centimeters deep. There is a reason why cars and even bikes have treads, it gives more grip and control against the ground and in wet conditions.
Shark wheels are not a reinvention of the wheel.. They are just a less basic as hell wheel that just looks "cool"
What am i doing here,i dont even have a skateboard
I love in south Florida and the roads here suuuuuuck. In the summer the roads might as well be a continuation of the beach because of how wet and sandy they are. Thanks for clearing up some of the questions I had about these before dropping that kind of money on them!
I’ve had shark wheels on my board for two years now and I love them
(Edit) When i’m out in public I always get tons of people asking about the wheels aswell because “they look square.” Great conversation piece!
