A very sane, straightforward guide! Nice chart at the end, too. I like your point about getting the board that excites you. Yes, it might be harder to ride at first, but a board that's really calling your name, so to speak, is one you'll probably keep coming back to and having fun with if you feel a connection with it.
Great video comparison. You did a great job explaining pros and cons. I got both size boards and totally agree with everything you said. The penny is just pure fun. The nickel is so much easier and stable. Love your energy and passion. Your a breath of fresh air on RUclips. Thank you!
Thank you! I have been practicing my 22-inch board for a few weeks now. I can't thank you enough for all the videos you've made. I even learned to carve (a little bit) recently, also thanks to you. I really enjoy riding and hope to be more proficient in the near future.
Good thing I got the 27" since I do have a teeny tiny amount of experience with a long board (10mins) and a 22" penny (5mins) but I want something easy to ride and be able to use it for commuting. I think traveling with the 27" is definitely challenging but doable. 27" is definitely versatile imo.
I originally bought the 27" because I thought the original penny was gonna be too small. However, I bought a Hurley 22" knockoff, and put my penny wheels and bearings on it (I tried to put the trucks on too, but the holes didn't line up), and it's actually a pretty nice ride.
in a scale from 1 - 10 in terms of comfort, if the longboard is 10/10, how would you qualify the nickel and the penny board? Because I always heard the penny board is more difficult but I always wonder how much harder it is compared to the nickel. Thanks!
So comfort is a little subjective I feel, but the penny and nickel ride very similarly to a longboard in terms of plain-and-simple cruising. The main difference is size so you may feel “weird” at first if you’re used to riding longboards. The penny is slightly faster but still can be controlled well (imo). The nickel has better overall board control (again imo) because it is a little longer/has more surface area. Generally, if you have previous board experience, picking up either should be just fine
I haven't had a genuine 22 inch penny but I had a knockoff and they are a TERRIBLE size for me. I am size 13 shoe and the entire length of it minus kick tail was about as long as my front foot and my back foot going sideways without an inch to spare. The flex of the board just seems to make it worse compared to the Landyacthz mini Dinghy which is the same size but its wood. bigger people above 6 foot I think should definitely either buy larger plastic ones or go with a wooden deck if it's about 25 inches or shorter.
Yeah I get that, and I've actually made a video about tall people riding penny boards (and what one worked best). Generally speaking, if your shoe size is greater than (or equal to) 11US, I would more likely recommend the 27-inch as a minimum. If you are greater (or equal to) size 13.5US, I would more likely recommend the 32-inch penny skateboard or the 36-inch longboard* *if you wanted to stay with the brand, Penny Skateboards. Obviously, you could get a different brand cruiser board, skateboard, or longboard.
I want to have blackout but shipping cost here in Philippines is too expensive. Im not sure if Penny skateboard has physical store or online store here in PH?
I’m a 9.5 US and I feel comfortable. If you’re a true beginner though, like I mention in the video, it might be more beneficial to have a little more surface area and get a 27-inch. That said, you can still learn on the penny so if that’s what you feel, go for it
@@DOT0_O7 they both have pros and cons - the 22inch has better portability as it's easier to carry or put in a bag. The 27inch has a little more control and stability allowing you to better avoid things (IMO)
@@pennyboardtyler yeah, i love the penny boards, but im way to used to the handling of a regular skateboard, so the 32 inch penny board is great for days when i just want to ride

Absolutely, and I am very glad to hear! I appreciate it 🤙🏼
Now that sale you can get one of each for the price of one of a dif color
Not even 2 min and you explained it perfectly! thank you for the best concise explanation.
Glad to hear and glad it could help!

Yoooo I’m stoke to hear!! Keep going & keep on cruising! 🤘🏼
ALWAYS bring a board when traveling. Trust me.

Nice to hear! have fun with it 🤘🏼
I’d say if you’re buying it for the durability, but want the same feel as a regular skateboard, get the bigger one.
Another thing to think about
I got both and like to switch the variant. As a beginner, nickel all the way.
Awesome to hear, Adam!

Glad to hear you dig the 22” set up!
I’m 235 with size 15 shoes. I better go with the 27
👍🏼👍🏼
How the 22" deck bow under my weight scared me, so I went with 27"
Hope the 27-inch feels better for you then
def agree, good info. I have both, and am wayyy more comfortable on the 27in, but I have a size 14 shoe, its too tight a fit on the 22.
totally get that! Big feet definitely love the 27inch more
Thank you this really helped me decide. I’m going to get the 27 inch this video was very helpful
Glad I could help! Have a blast with it when it comes in 🤙🏼
I have quite a bit of riding experience. Curious as to if I could haul around my backpack (10-15 pounds) on the 22 inch
Yeah you should be fine
I want the one with the shark wheels but it’s so expensive 💀🙏
Yeahhh I seen those too! Totally intrigued to see how it rides
Thank you brother
For sure 🤙🏼
Another thing is the price. The 22 inch is cheaper than the 27 inch
Yes, great point Clarence! As of this comment, the 22-inch Penny goes from $35-$70, and the 27-inch Nickel goes from $50-$80
I've got the 32. cruiser with the nose. Love it.. Penny do it right.
Lessss gooooo 🤘🏼
can you do a vid on better boards than penny's on the market

for speed, which one is superior, 22 or 27 ?
Penny Skateboards claims they’re both “built for speed,” but I personally think the 22inch is slightly faster from my own experience

I used to skate alot but I kinda gained some weight since 2011 im about 240-250 now. should i not get a penny board 27”
They say their max weight limit is 220lbs so I would encourage you to start moving now so you can get back on a board!
