How to Use Heat Presses: Featuring the HTVront Auto Heat Press!

- Some years ago I covered a steam press, which was GREAT until my needs changed, my room space shrunk, and I required more RAW POWA!!! Heat presses aren't some mysterious thing that only professional shops can get. YOU can get them too! While I appreciated the industrial/mechanical nature of mine, I much prefer the HTVront Auto Heat Press, because it isn't plotting to set me on fire, has very consistent results, includes preset values great for HTV application AND interfacing, and I just plain old feel safer with it!

I laughed out loud when you opened the old machine! You are the best. Thanks for the video!
Love your video. I usually get bored when trying to watch demos but yours was so funny and had to watch it to the end. I have purchased the press so can’t wait to get crafting 😊
Yay!!! I hope you love it as much as I do!
Oh, what sorcery is THIS?! FANTASTIC review & demo!!!
I didn't even know that there was such a thing as an Auto Heat Press and now I'm HOOKED. It's so nice. I cannot begin to tell you the number of times I've used the more industrial one and dang near taken out my hand. I almost punched myself in the face, too.
@@fiercekittenz Yikes! Yeah, that's too much danger to make bags!
Just watched this... you are delightfully entertaining and funny. Looking into the HTVRONT autopress myself, looking for reviews to make an informed decision prior to purchase. Very helpful. Thanks.
100% I still have mine and love it!!! It is a huge game changer for those who need to interface larger pieces of fabric or want to do HTV work.
I've added it to my cart and removed at least 6 times...😅. Guess I'll take the plunge
So so glad I saw this. I just got this press and am pressing decovil on custom vinyl tomorrow. This video is perfect!!
Just bought the HTVront Auto Heat Press for bag making - great video and very helpful re interfacing, Decovil, fusible fleece, vinyl etc.
I can't live without it!
Awesome auto open heat press. I found out the hard way...messed up both shoulders from 6 years of using a manual machine. (aka midnite moosette)
Mine just arrived & I can't wait to set it up!!!
Hey I just got mine for $231 ❤️. I have another one I have to adjust the pressure that I love too. It is definitely self satisfying ♥️. Great job!
Never thought of using a heat press for interfacing!!! I just ordered one for vinyl/dtf transfers..but WILL use it for interfering now too!!!
Oh HECK yes. It changed my entire world.
I just bought this same heat press. I am so glad for this video. You make it look so easy.
I must obtain one of these glorious machines! Thank you for this!
I could drink coffee and watch your videos all day. 😀I haven't used my Cricut in years and I just ordered one of these heat presses so I'm anxious to get started. Thank you for dedicating your time, energy and talent to make these videos so people don't have to flounder around for hours trying to figure out what to do. Plus, you are a hoot to watch!!
Wow, thank you, thank you! So informative and fun!
It's on sale for $251. I bought one.
I just brought one, and I’m so excited
Thaaaanks. You enabler!! Yes, I just ordered one. My shoulders thank you.
Yaaay! Let me know what you think!
@@fiercekittenz Got it this morning - 5 days from order to received in Canada. WOW ! And this press is a GAME CHANGER !! I used it right out of the box, it's so easy. And wow, no more ironing 4 sq in at a time with my conventional iron. I'm prepping for the summer season and this could not have come at a better time. You really need to get an affiliate link for this company, because when the word gets out they'll be flying off the shelf!
Mine literally came today! I was able to use it right out of the box! I LOVE it!!!! :)
Awesome!
Omgggg I just fuze my decovil lights into my vinyl using your settings and It works so good. Your videos are amazing 🌴
Just bought it at Prime Day! Your video convinced me I "needed" it.
omg I needed this video - thank you. I've been considering getting one since I'm bothering to use my Cricut more finally, and uh I am 5' tall. So I feel the pain of the height and my craft room is completely stuffed. For HTV weeding, I generally take the HTV off the mat first, then weed. I find it easier.
awesome review !! Thank you for sharing !! I love your videos, always such good content. :)
Love the press !!
Just got my heat press last week and can’t wait to get started.
Just bought one in aqua 😍. Paid $185 during the big Amazon sale....happy dance! Now to go and play. 😁
I have one and love it.
Thank you so much for this information! I actually was needing this guidance since I'm starting out with bag making. Your vids are excellent.
This is all so new to me. Thanks for keeping it real! Loved watching this. It took the pain out of some of the long and boring videos. Great job!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Thank you SO MUCH for this review! I've been contemplating buying a more industrial heat press to replace my Cricut Easypress, so this is quite timely. As a fellow height-challenged person, I definitely sympathize with your struggles. And WHYYYYYY did I not think to use my press for interfacing?!?!?! That is genius! I've been using my iron like an idiot and standing at the ironing board for a million years.
It's an absolute life changer to use a heat press for interfacing! It's the only way I'll get any production sewing done. I need to interface whole sections of fabric, THEN cut. Or if it's fiddly and I need to fussy cut, I'll cut out the pieces, then lay them out on a larger piece of interfacing and press. Only cut twice that way.
Thank you , have watched this video several time , great information. I received my HTVRONT heat press last week .. what a game changer for applying fusible interfacing. 😊
I'm so glad!!! I feel the same way ^_^
Loved this video. Bought the press and subscribed to the channel. Soooo entertaining too! You are great!
Woot! I hope you enjoy the press as much as I have! It's been a gamechanger for me.
Finally those have arrived in Norway. And I will get one next week. I will sell my old heat press that is similar to your black one 😊👏🏻
Yay!!! Mine is still going strong and I love it!
I have been contemplating buying a heat press , this one looks like it fits my needs. I am going to watch a few more reviews though. Thank you for doing this video!
I am so glad that this video popped up in my feed because I've been looking for a replacement for my Starcraft 15x15" clam shell heat press because not only is it problematic for all the reasons you mentioned, but there's also a strong odor when it's in use. This seems like the perfect alternative.
It's really good. I still have this one and it's been going strong for me. I mostly use it to adhere interfacing to my fabrics for bag making, but I've used it for HTV, Sublimation and patches.
Absolutely love this review!!! Thank you
First time see your channel .. I enjoy until the end ❤. I'm buying this magic htvront heat press...
Looks great!
I'm in love!! I have a garment press and yes, multiple times to get the interface on.. (Still better than iron..lol) great info!!
I love my htvront heat press too!! Great video ❤️
Honestly wish I had room for two.
Thank you so much for this! I unboxed my HT Ront auto press about a month abo but hadn't used it yet. Your video helped me feel more confident and reminded me why I purchased the auto press rather than the alternative. Great review and you've gained a viewer!
I’ve been enjoying going through your videos and learning a ton. What are some of your favorite sources for fabrics?
FabricWholesaleDirect for Ottertex Waterproof, MarineVinyl.com for vinyl (I'm not kidding, that's the company name!), Quiltoni for nerdy yet fashionable quilting cottons, and local shops for other quilting cottons.
you made my day Thank you
Thank you so much for this video. Besides informative, you make me laugh. I literally spent a full day interfacing quilting cotton for a nice order of wristlets and pouches and thought to myself there must me another faster way to do this. I came across this video and I just ordered it. Your other videos about starting a bag business are also helpful and I did learn a few things that will definitely help me.
With the auto press it's been a subtle but impactful change to my workflow. I load it up, press the button, then I can go back to my cutting table and do something without worrying about babysitting the press. It's only 20 seconds, but it DOES matter to the workflow, at least for me. I'm ADHD so I like to bounce around and get a lot of things done.
Thanks!
Wow! No, thank YOU!
At first I thought you said tit protection! I was thinking that sounds great cause it looks like it could be a mammogram…lol….then I realized you said tip protection!
Wow, totally gonna get one of those to replace my Cricut Easy Press, which isn’t so easy for me! Btw, I love watching your videos. Not only do I learn a lot of stuff, but it’s like watching a comedy show. Love your humor! 😂
I looked at the video about the heat press and decided that I wanted o e also. You are right I own the other heat press and it just like you said. I like this one a LOT better. Thank you again for doing this video 📹 it helped me a lot
Interesting video! Love your videos and also love the auto heat press!
I adore the dang thing. It's so helpful. I mean, I can't press into the fabric enough to get interfacing to stay put, so having something like this has been immensely useful.
Super demonstration thanks so much. So do you have to cover the first part when you’re gonna add another word.? Will the first melt if not covered?
Loved your video - thank you! Question: where do you get your organic tote bags?
From Amazon!
www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0BLFFD69G/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1
I also have an account with AS Colour.
I've had this press for a few months now & love it for the most part . . . but. I had to letter some XXL hoodies last week & had to revert back to my old press. No matter which way you turn them, big hoodies just won't fit, there isn't anywhere for the hood or extra fabric to go. Smaller hoodies work fine upside down, but with large ones there just isn't enough room at the back of the machine for any material to bunch up.
Other than that, the only thing I would like to see added is a pressure adjustment.
Really good feedback! I admittedly have NOT done hoodies. I mostly use it for fabric preparation, which isn't terribly thick. I guess some HTV on t-shirts too, but again, not thick :(
as a vertically challenged individual as well I never thought that the lift bar would be that difficult! Everyone makes it look so easy. might as well spend the few extra bucks and get the auto. sadly I am in canada and it costs a lot more than that haha *crying*
Very informative. On a side note, do you have a video of your signs for your vendor event? They look nice.
Oh, I don't! I should do one!
What a great machine. Same size as my siser home heat press which I really like. I would have purchased this one instead if I would have seen this video for the pull out feature. Thanks for great review. P.S. onsale right now for $251.
that's beautiful vinyl
Where did you buy the bags? Thank you
Thank you for this entertaining and educational video! I am considering buying this but am wondering how I would fuse interfacing/stabilizer to fabric/vinyl/etc (like a men’s shirt or quilting cotton from a bolt) that’s larger than the 15”x15” ironing plate, especially if I don’t want to cut it down? I wonder if they make a large 15” square iron with a handle (like a regular iron, but much, much bigger) that you can manually press onto your fabric, but maybe they do. Sorry for my rambling on and on….🙂
I just shift it. For larger bag pieces, I'll just put half down, press, then slide it over and do the other half.
P.S. I think we need a follow-up, tea-spilling, shade-throwing of Coats & Clark . . . . Mwahahaha
I bought mine on ebay for 224$ plus shipping which came to 256$. I hope that helps someone else. I going donate the cream presser to friend. I hope she like it because I l love the htv one
They seem to have a lot of good deals all over the place. I'm so glad others are finding the joy in using the auto heat press as much as I do! I can't work without it!
Hi! I've just got my heat press the other day; however, I haven't tested it out yet... can't wait! My question is what model of the cricut maker do you have? And how to you like it?
I have the 3! I do like it, but I HATE the dang mats. I feel like they don't last as long as they should. I kind of cheat a bit and spray down some 505 basting spray to it.
@@fiercekittenz I appreciate your honest feedback.
Hi... Do you have a cheat sheet available for the time and temperatures for applying bag making interfacing with the HTVRONT press? SF101, Peltex, Fusible Fleece, etc.
Not yet, but I’ve been good with the 330/20 preset for everything other than vinyl. Vinyl I’m doing 300/10
@@fiercekittenz thank you !
Awesome video. Weird question. Where’d you get the table it sits on? I ended up buying the htvront and I need a table😆
It’s a kitchen cart from IKEA!
@@fiercekittenz awesome! Thank you!
Have you pressed fusible foam to fabric?
I have! I don’t like it :( I’d rather do fabric -> woven interfacing -> foam minus the seam allowance with a layer of woven interfacing fused over it to hold it down. I found directly fused it wrinkles horribly!
I just purchased the HTVRont heat press so I really appreciated your video. Great job and it sure helped me understand the press. I too have the industrial heat press and my biggest complaint was I couldn't loosen or tighten the know. I actually had to use a pair of vice grips. Thank you for enlighteningme.
nice video thank you. I have a question. Is it possible to attach the wick with a press? What is the right temperature?
Attach the wick? I don't know what you mean, sorry.
Do you have a link for the purple cutting mat and the tote bags?
The purple mat was from an old sponsor. I dropped them as a sponsor after they posted hate speech on their business page :(
@@fiercekittenz oh no so sorry about that, I am trying to find totes would you be able to share a link
Where did you get that table from? I got my wife a heat press for Christmas and am afraid the folding table won't hold the weight.
This one was from Ikea! It's a kitchen cart.
Oh my, your speaking truth🤣
ALWAYS. I'm a very direct communicator. I sprinkle in the humor here or there to make it somewhat entertaining :D
@@fiercekittenz yes that you are dear🤣❤️
Hello, where did you get your tote bag from? Thanks!
I got those off Amazon!
@@fiercekittenz thank you!
Can I ask where the table is from. I got the press but need a table for it.
This is actually an IKEA kitchen cart! Looks like they still sell it: www.ikea.com/us/en/p/bekvaem-kitchen-cart-beech-70240351/
@@fiercekittenz thank you so much!
Do you ever feel you need to interface cork? If you do, what temp/time do you use?
I haven’t worked with cork, sadly. So much of it isn’t good for bag making that it’s hard to find a trusted source.
How do you do your own pressure? Thought that wasn't an option.
It isn’t - did I say it was? I need to add a correction if I did: it sets its own pressure by detecting how far down it goes before it hits the base plate, then goes a little further from there for the “pressure.” You can somewhat control it by adding some padding to it.
Is there a handy chart of sorts that lists the temps and times for each type of fabric and interfacing? I am so excited to start but my machine didn't come with any tips on temps and times. I hope there is something I can refer to and put next to my press.
There isn't, but I just follow the manufacturer guidelines for the HTV. For preparing bags with interfacings, I use the 320F/15s preset. Vinyl I'll use 300F/10s preset. I THINK that's what the presets are offhand. The jist is not to go more than 10 seconds on the vinyl and keep it at a low temp. Press once, let it cool off, then press again if you feel it needs more melting.
@@fiercekittenz thank you!
It's a great heat press,at $251.00 but here in england the same press is a hell of a lot more at a smidge of £399.00 English pounds. Things are soooo much cheaper in the us or canada, it's not good when your trying to start a small bag making business,.looks like ill be moving to Vancouver....lol😁
That really sucks. I'm sorry :( I know fabric and such can also be hard to come by there.
what temperature did you use for interfacing
It depends on what I'm putting the interfacing on. Typically I just use their 300 preset. 5 seconds for vinyls (additional presses as-needed) and 20 seconds for cottons.
Hello, I just received my heat press... I don't mean to seem slow, but there is literally no room to put my shirt on the heat panel?, am I missing something?. Thanks
You don’t wrap the shirt around the bottom panel. I put a Cricket press pad inside my shirts, then set the shirt on top of the pull out tray, push in, press, then remove.
Did you let it cool down or just peeled when was done?
It depends on the HTV used. Some I’ll let cool down (regular HTV) while others I want to peel right away (puff).
Yay I don't USE coat and Clark either. Love the press
Can you use waterproof canvas on this?
Yes. I've pressed it just fine. I always did with my other one too. I just make sure that I use the teflon sheet on the side with the rubberized backing.
@@fiercekittenz thanks so much for answering, mine should be here this week. I love your channel!
it said you cant adjust the pressure? does that hinder you?
No, I'm ok so far! It automatically determines the pressure it needs based on the depth of the material.
Does it draw a lot of electricity i was thinking of my condo. 😅😅😅
I feel like it's fine? I haven't had any issues with that. I did have an issue with leaving the tray pulled out while my ceiling fan was going. It cut off when it couldn't get to temp at the expected rate, so it triggered the safety system!
Aaaaahahahahahahahaha hot flashes..the schvitz is real. You had me laughing while learning...I just bought this heat press today as an extra press. Thank you for your video! No buyers remorse here...
Lol I dance while pressing
100%. I have to be real in these videos. It scares off the people who can't handle me LOL
How can you be BAREFOOT in your sewing space?…
I take my shoes off.
lol! It took me a second to get it! Asked. Answered.
@@suewagner6627bahahaha! So in all seriousness though, I can't control the speed of my industrial and semi-industrial machines via the pedal well at all if I have socks or shoes on. USUALLY I am using clips for holding things together, but when I do doll clothing I use fine point pins. If I drop one of those, the floor is lava.
Cut the tables' legs!
HAH! Believe me, we thought about it, but it's actually a really nice cart. I know we'd mess it up.
