Every week I am asked, “How quickly can I replace my dead tooth with a ceramic implant?” For the sake of demonstrating the ease of our “BDC T.R.P” (tooth replacement protocol) I created this video.
This patient had an accident many years ago where he experienced trauma to his two front teeth. The left central incisor died more than 10 years ago. The process he endured a decade ago took almost one year to complete. A physician himself, he knew that with the advances in technology that there must be a way to remove the tooth, place the ceramic implant, and restore it all in a single visit. This is what brought him from Austin, Texas to Portland, OR!
Our team of professionals utilizes the synergistic technologies of digital scanning in the mouth with 3D Cone-Beam CT scans to plan implant positioning and then create printed surgical guides. By using custom printed guides we are able to direct the ceramic implant exactly where we want it within minutes after the tooth is removed. The ceramic implant is then reshaped to mimic a tooth and the custom porcelain tooth is created using a CAD/CAM system called “CEREC”. At BDC, we use the exact same high-quality porcelain for the temporary as we do for the permanent crown. This way we are able to verify the esthetic result while the bone is healing to the implant ensuring patient satisfaction.
