When I listen to this song and consider the lyrics, I can understand us from Jesus' perspective. It's like He spoke directly to Matthew to write this song, so that everyone who listens to it understands what He's like and how He sees us. Love it
I heard this song this weekend sitting next to the hospital bed of the girl I love who's struggling to recover from a traumatic brain injury. Thank you, God. Praying for healing beyond belief.
I've begun to relapse into my depression, and it's something I desperately don't want to go back to. But God had mercy on me and lead me here for some reason, because as I felt like crying I thought of this song. God is good, I'm struggling but I'll get there :)

This song came to me when I needed a comfort. My son was hit by a car and he was damaged and wounded not only by a car but by alcohol and drugs. Today he is a new creation, God wasn't done with him. Thank you Matthew for such a beautiful loving song from God!!
I haven't been to church in almost a year. I recently had a surgery where I almost died and this song got me through long hospital days. I didn't actually realize how far I had backslidden from God. It makes me feel ashamed. Tomorrow I'm going back to church. He saved my life in more ways then one last month.

My cousin just told me to watch this video. I sit here crying, tears streaming down my face like a waterfall because I am broken beyond belief, too far gone, brokenhearted, undeserving, unworthy, and full of a deep despair/hopelessness that has consumed me for decades. I am going to this Christian retreat in a couple weeks. I am praying for a miracle to happen that will change my life and bring me back to a personal relationship with my Lord God. I just dont know how much longer I can go on living a life that I hate and the only one who can mend a shattered soul such as me is Him. Please pray for me. Thank you.

I've been diagnosed with high-functioning autism. With it comes a different mindset and talents. Sometimes, however, I only see the bad that comes with it: lack of social graces, limited eye-contact and communication skills (people seem to speak a different language even though we all speak English). I was rejected by people in my past; teased, abused, disliked... only my family and a select few were on my side. But even I can see how difficult my affliction is for them, having stretched their patience thin on many occasion. And there came a point where I cursed my affliction and I wondered how God could love me.
But I've been looking at myself through my own eyes. And when I judge myself, I'm only seeing what I see on the surface. I think we all have trouble seeing ourselves the way God sees us because we see only what is on the surface, and we end up doubting not only ourselves but God's love for us because we can't see through His eyes when we beat ourselves down.
But God does not see what is outward, but what is deeper down. Just as He saw David, the man after God's own heart, God sees *us* because, as Matthew West sings, He sees us "through the eyes of mercy".

This song reminds me that even if we have messed up, are struggling, in a hard season god still heals us and loves us even if we see ourselves differently than he does. He reminds us of what he sees in us.
This song speaks to this recovering drug addict. While trapped in addiction all i saw was broken beyond repair. Today by the grace of God I am 11 months free from addiction. Thank you Matthew West for being such an effective means for God to show me mercy.

Those are amazing thoughts to have about God. Most of my friends tell me that what causes most of their depression is that no one cares about them or that God has forsaken them and now they are outcasts but we all know that is so not true. If He had forsaken us none of us would be alive today and none of us would have had a second chance in life when He sent Jesus Christ His son to die for us. You should always remember that when you are depressed and if you start feeling like no one cares He still cares and He always has and He always will..
God Has a plan for all of us, It doesn't matter how far you've gone, HE STILL LOVES YOU!

I've been wounded by evil in more ways than i can say here. Jesus protect and repair me.
I feel like I am broken, though I am a Christian, and this song has been a blessing to me. Now I feel mended.
My mom has a tiny (not so tiny) obsession with Mr. West here, so we listen to this album a lot on the way to school and other places. I have a past with self harm and suicidal thoughts and one day we were on the way home from my therapist when this song came on. Now, I don't cry a lot anymore, because I have depression, bad, and most of the time, I just feel numb. I remember my mom looking at me with a smile and she said words I will never, ever forget, "This is your song, God is talking to you." I don't know why, but I knew she was right, and I cried for the first time in a long time. I cried because I knew God was there and talking to me. This song makes me happy and helps give me hope and a reason to keep living. I'm alive because of this song and the God behind it.
I felt this song speaking to,me as I listen to it because I have felt wounded and broken thinking there is not help for me. I thank God for leading me to listen to Matthew West song Mended. I am fighting a porn addiction and this song helps because I have always described myself as broken. My depression robbed me of my childhood but I won't let anything take away my future. I know that I can beat everything with God by my side.

I can relate but I know only through relying on God's strength and having some anti-pornography software on your browser, can help, I am still pushing for the goal of being off it for 1 month. There are some free options and options at a cost to help to deal with this. But also I recommend something instead of just focusing on the addiction, fix your eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith. Finally, I recommend memorizing verses from the Bible, so that God can continue to inscribe these verses on the tablet of your heart. God bless.

I can honestly say I haven't had a Jesus moment like this in forever but a couple songs and I'm a mess I'm crying my eyes out in happiness!!!! Thank you Jesus for everything!!!!!!
I am the survivor of many abusive situations, including child abuse. If it weren't for God, I firmly believe my last day would have been in Sept. 2010. Many times I felt Jesus' hand on my back and His peace surround me, letting me know I would be OK. Because of my faith in our Lord and Savior, I am here today and raising an amazing little boy as a single mom.
I'll try not to make this too long winded, but I am not making any promises. When I first heard this song, it was when I was getting a ride from an uber driver. It struck me right away. This may be triggering to some, so fair warning. I'm pretty sure that the song was playing when I was going to a convenient care clinic to get stitches after cutting a bit too deep. Self harm is one of many aspects of mental illness I have struggled with from a fairly young age, though I am in my mid 20's now. I looked up the song on here about a week later, and it has been a comfort to me. I often feel like nothing more than, "damaged goods," and a lost cause. This song helps me to remember that God sees me as so much more. I don't know if anyone will read this, but I felt the need to write this and to say thank you.

crazycarebear92 Don't believe those lies of the evil one. Read Jesus' words in the New Testament and talk with God about your life. Ask him to bring you to the right church and young group of believers for new friends and new people to raise your hope. Read the Hope Quotient book by Ray Johnston - really good. God has big plans for you (for each one of us!).

I was crying, tears streaming down my face, smoking a cig trying to keep the panic attack from coming. Then this song came. I literally stopped crying and everything I was going through at work and dealing with my past demons flashed before me. I heard a soft voice state, see your not wounded, don't worry hun were mending you. Trust me. This is year is my time heal and I have seen God miracle working within me. Helping me find my strength again.

I'm 24ish, and still trying to find a way to a fulfilled life. Didn't finish college, and fell far behind in getting the job my heart is on fire for. I still ask God if it's too late, but this song really helps me to take it one day at a time and to not believe that it's too late. But it's still a daily struggle or at least faith is a daily struggle that I hope someday will be rewarded.
This song has always cut me deep. You see, I first heard it after my father did something unthinkable and had everyone turn their back on him. One week later he committed suicide. I knew his decision weighed on his heart as he was visiting church after church that whole week looking for something to mend his broken heart and bring healing man couldn't. He was trying to get closer to God. He knew at that point God was all he had. I just wish he would have felt mended and repented before he took his own life and essentially that of his children. Suicide affects us all. It brings a pain that can't be healed. It separated our family after he passed. It scarred us all and this song makes me think of my dad. God loves him and could heal his broken heart and accompany him in his time of trial. Thank you for making this song to remind us all nothing is to bad for God. He loves us regardless.

this song moves me so much. It feels like its about me. about 6 years ago that was me, I had lost all hope because of a terrible mistake I had made and I was so heartbroken I cannot put it into words, i was so sure I had lost my relationship with God. This pain and fear had gone on for several weeks. It was the worst. I remember looking into a mirror just like the woman in the video and not recognizing myself. I felt so unworthy and guilty that I wanted to end my life. as I was staying at a closter for 2 days to be silent, they played this song. Every line hit. I shook. I felt so seen. I felt so loved.
Other than this beautiful situation, God did amazing things to save me from ending my life. One day I was overcome with the idea to travel to a church in another city that does 24/7 prayer, I thought I'd give my life this last try, it was my last hope that I might feel God and hear from him that I'm still his child. So I hopped on a bus just minutes later, stranded in a different city ( 4 hours from my town and about 2 hours from the town i was heading to) cause I didnt realize I had to change busses. Got there at 11 pm or something at an airport outside of the city. I didnt know where to go, a friend followed me that night to the city with his car, drove us both to the city with the prayer house. first day in the prayer room i just sat there, still didnt believe He was still with me. Randomly met people from my home town that offered to counsel me, got invited to stay at the staffs place, I remember staying up late at night crying and praying psalms. the next morning as I got ready for the day one thought appeared in my mind, something like this: If Jesus is the Son of God, what would be impossible for him? And I suddenly felt hope. I felt peace, I kept on thinking this thought. Shortly after we met a man in the hostel, we talked, we prayed and God was so present like in really rare moments of my life. It was overwhelming, I got lavished with his love. BTW I had put a deadline in my calendar for finding hope before I wouldnt want to live anymore. That date was a month or so after this trip,, I was at a christian event and a befriended lady walked up to me and told me over and over again how Jesus loves me so, and how she loves me. She was so overjoyed and moved that she was crying some tears, saying this is just coming over her at this moment. JESUS LOVES YOU.

I used to ignore this song because of how much they played it on my KLove station. Then, I started actually listening to those lyrics, and they are powerful. Finally, I had the chance to go to WinterJam 2016 in Portland, Oregon. Matthew was the last performer of the group, and this was one of the last songs he sang. I was crying the whole time. I love this song now. It's also a song that brought one of my friends to the Lord.

Thank you God for seeing what I could be instead of who I was. Sometimes I struggle with the thoughts of who I used to be and with the mistakes I still make but I'm so thankful that Jesus has paid it all and sees beyond what I've done and all of the mistakes and I still make. My girlfriend had a broken childhood in which she has carried into her adult hood. I (did not know what she was going through at the time , but realize it now by God's Grace). One night I was murmuring to God in my mind in the bathroom "she is a waste of time , she will always be like this , she is beyond repair ." In the bedroom the radio was on and I heard " WHEN YOU SEE BROKEN BEYOND REPAIR/I SEE HEALING BEYOND BELIEF . WHEN YOU SEE TOO FAR GONE / I SEE ONE STEP AWAY FROM HOME. YOU SEE NOTHING BUT DAMAGED GOODS / I SEE SOETHING GOOD IN THE MAKING . I AM NOT FINISHED YET." I said ok But it didn't stop there ... Two more times ( yes I am real ) I was murmuring and by His Grace that song came on the radio !!!! MAYBE GOD IS SAYING SOMETHING TO ME ( lol). In 2016 i went through a torturous persecution. I left the situation with the iq of a newborn. I felt broken beyond repair, but he was performing a healing beyond belief. I felt like nothing but damaged goods, but he was in the process of molding something good in his making. Hes not finished yet. What he allowed to happen to me was to bring Glory to himself by performing a miracle and I am glad to have been used by him and now understand the persecution had to take place, for me to become a new creation.
I've done something, its a bad sin, and i think it might have caused something in the past, and i was thinking, gosh if that happens again, i would know its my fault and i still don't know. I was thinking i was going to be so depressed and i still would, but i know god will love me no matter what i do. I prayed for forgiveness, and started reading the bible. And i did it again after that so i told myself I'm not ever, ever doing it again, and I'm working to win myself back. Good luck everyone!

I don't think that I have ever heard of Matthew until January 2016; when he was at Winter Jam an hour away from my home. I only went to Winter Jam because my youth group was going and it only costed us $10 a person. It was an amazing experience for me. I never heard of many of the bands that performed there, because I mainly listen to three groups (well two groups and a genre) (Skillet, Pentatonix, and Country music). I am now following a few of the bands that were at Winter Jam because I love their music and messages so much!
I'm also trying to get closer to God, because over the past few years I feel like I'm drifting away from Him, especially since my community has a hard time with people still believing in Him… that's why when I go to college I'm going to try to become closer to Him then I am right now

I hope Matthew sees this comment. I've heard this song many times but just in the last week, it's kept replaying in my mind, even as I've been sinning. And it encourages me greatly, abs makes the sting of the moment more bearable. I want Matthew to know that this song gives me HOPE that all knocking on Gods door that I keep doing for healing, from my misogyny, racism, anxiety, personality disorders, Aspergers, homosexuality and other issues is WORTH something abs keeps me hopeful that he WILL heal me from that stuff. I pray for it every day cause NOT of that stuff is what I wanna be.
I see Jesus in Matthew West's urgent sincerity in this video. Jesus calling out to His wounded children, trying to break through the pain and offer grace to heal and cover all wounds, if we, His children, can just reach out and grasp His hand.

I've been going through a lot, like broken bones, broken family relationships, broken friendships. But this song encourages me to keep on going, I see this as the worst time of my life, but God see's it as opportunity. I haven't been looking to the bright side of things I've been looking away from God, but this song encourages me to keep walking to him because he see's me as a masterpiece even though I'm barely perfect and who I want to be. I have been doing wrong and making fun of others, but I believe that is because I am hanging out with bad friends, and all they do is make fun of others. Ever since I heard this song, God have helped me through all of it. Even though I feel broken all the time God is with me, when I feel depressed I have someone there to make me feel happy, and when I'm lonely god is there, and most of all when I loose faith through all that's happening God tells me it's alright and everything will end up okay. I praise God with all my heart mind and body now and I pray that you will too!
The Lord has been giving me visions of the love of my life coming to the cross, for a while I was off the path of christ & not inviting Jesus into my relationship & letting the enemy take over & as a result, the enemy came to destroy & he is trying but Jesus is faithful & restores all things & makes them new again in him. This song is wonderful, but it makes me cry thinking about now, and my past. It's beautiful and I can't give enough thanks to God for making me born a Catholic. I feel like I've been in every bad situation possible, and I'm only 13. God has helped me through it ALL. Peace be with everyone out there who has stuck with God, or has found God. He helps everyone who seeks His glory. :)

Matthew West has a gift to be used by God through his lyrics. This is such a powerful song and really encourages people to look at themselves through God's eyes. We are often too hard on ourselves, beating ourselves up for things in our past, but God knows that and reaches us right where we're at, if we allow ourselves to receive His grace and mercy. 🙏🏻

I'm sorry for your loss. My brother-in-law shot himself in my house on May 7th, 2012. He left behind 3 sons. The youngest was 11 at the time, and he was on the phone with him when he did it. It has been so hard for everyone, but I think it's been hardest for him because of that. I wish all the time that I could do something to comfort him and take his pain away. I've played the blame game, because he tried to talk to me the night before he did it. The truth is noone can know what is in someone else's mind or heart. Only God. He has us all in His hands. I believe that fiercely. He has you. Always. Let that comfort you. Let it strengthen you. I'm glad you were able to receive this message and it brought you what you needed. Hold on to that. You are in my thoughts and prayers.

I was to. I was also abused as well. This happened when I was 8. I'm almost 14 years old. I always hated myself for what my step father did. I didn't love myself at all. I wanted to change and I'm glad I didn't because I got away from depression. I just started loving myself again. This song helped me alot. I'm very glad a girl I know sent me this song. It helped me alot :) I felt the same way you did. Now I finally understand it's not my fault and it's in the past. I know that it wasn't my fault and I been told it wasn't my fault but I never really believed it until now :)

Part of reding the bible or listening to scriptures in songs, is that it washes away wrong thinking. the World and our role models make mistakes and we learn this is how life is supposed to be. We make assumptions and draw conclusions and build up defenses and walls. But the word is truth without error. It is able to remove perversion, twisted, broken lies and it is able to clean up our thoughts. Depression is connecting dots to make a dark reality. but it lies to us. it ties in emotions and assumptions of "Always" or "Never" as in "I'll always fail" or "I'll never be good enough" where the word teaches us God's rules and ways. It says, "You can't earn your way to heaven through good works, only Jesus' blood purchases that ticket. but we are grateful and do good work to praise his name and point the world to him. We can't be perfect, but his blood makes us perfected...and God swoops in to shape our clay lives like a master artist. He takes what the world pushed and prodded into a lump of dirt, and carefully and gently he wipes away our tears and brushes away and reforms us into a vessel that not only he fills with love but like a pitcher it can pour out that love to others. to steady their shaky knees, encouraging them to seek the only one who heals. Sending hugs. one minute at a time remind yourself you are always in his hands and he never sleeps. Psalm 33:18 and 19 says "The eye of the LORD is upon those that fear him, to keep them alive through famine and save their souls from death." He sees us. isaiah 65:24 says "while we call out to him, he is already answering..." and Revelation 21:4 says "One day he will wipe the tears form our eyes." These all amaze me That THE CREATOR bends down, listens to our hearts and wipes our tears...he is goodness and I lean on him for my very breath.

This song strikes a strong chord with me. I used to be the physical manifestation of hate and anger. I hated everything and everyone around me. If all of humanity would've gotten wiped off the planet and I was the only one left, I would've been totally fine with that. Then God pulled me home and showed me that being a devout follower of Jesus was the only way to live. And I love life and everyone in it now. I give thanks, love and pure gratitude to the Most High! So, I was reading the story of Elijah in 1 Kings 19, when he was depressed and suicidal, and he prayed that he might die. Honestly, I prayed that that prayer 3 times in my season of depression.
Anyways, I was reading it the other day and found it really interesting that the Angel said, "Get up and eat, for the journey ahead is too much for you” instead of "Get up now, you’re healed.”
God revealed to me that we often expect Him to heal us instantly, maybe too much? Like, it’s not always His will to heal. There’s a lesson in the test.
Trusting God is like trusting the pilot of a plane. You can’t see the pilot and you don’t know what they’re up to, but you know that they’re there. It’s the exact same with God, in that respect.

Dang I feel for most these people. Sometimes you feel just like it’s over but remember God has a great plan for you. I had a rough time trying to pass the ASVAB. It took 3 stressful tries just to pass. For the 2 tries it was 20’s and it was the most frustrating thing ever. I thought I could never join the Navy and I just wanted to quit. But then I busted my butt off for the ASVAB and I got a 42. But I needed 50 since I have a GED. But my recruiter said I can join if I have 22 college credits. So far I have 11 and I’m gonna get the rest this upcoming quarter. So never give up in life especially your goals. God puts things in your life randomly and the Navy was one of them. And my goal is to be an Admiral.
This song just shows you how amazing God is and I thank Him for loving me regardless of who I am and how I mess up. I know he put this song in my playlist again to remind me when I feel worthless and ashamed of myself that He loves me and sees me as a new creation and priceless.
