I have okayed the violin with different instructors. They could never get anyone to stay. I played for almost 2 years. Had to keep buying new books every time a new instructor started. I have learned more from your books and on lesson 8 then l did with those instructors. Alison, l love your technique of training. I am having so much fun. I honestly believe and know l can learn the violin. Thank you so much.
yass your back!! I love your videos I am a beginner and I have no teacher but because of you I leaned how to play it! Thankyou so much! I am learning 3 and 4th finger exercises now!💞
You never look stupid Allison. You are quite beautiful 😍 I learn quite a bit from your channel. I just sent my daughter a Fiddleman Soloist for her 27th birthday and Xombo Christmas gift. Cheers Love 💘
Helpful. I see why it works! At the top of the up bow the tightening of the fingers continues smoothly the up bow sounding and then gradually blends it into the downbow.
I'm so glad you've made this refresher video. This technique of minimising crossover pauses has made such a big difference in my sound and practicing is way more sustainable now.
One of the most helpful and understandable person to learn about violin ! Thanks a lot for your effort to give us your knowledge! P.S amazing outfit i am in love ♥️
Thank you!! This video made a HUGE difference in my violin playing and it came just in time! Because only this week I recorded my playing (because I'm supposed to give a chrismassy recital at my workplace) and was horrified about these little breaks or momentary pauses and how unsmoothly my bowing sounded. Now I have tried your method and it sounds MUCH better. 😊😊😊 Happy regards :-)
Ok so this is definately going to take some time, certainly a level of dexterity I don't possess yet. Thanks so much for your excellent instruction. Oh by the way.... your Canon in D performance is soothing to the soul!
Comment on your course: I have ended the rock breaking stage. Even though I have mostly achieved playing pretty well the practice pieces from 1-10 and the 1-3rd song in your first song book I am still going over each day the practice exercises 1-10. I find that real improvement on the practice exercises is helpful (haha maybe still playing exercises after a year? No...only to a point that I have "passed" my own proficiency in my opinion (I have developed my own standards based on playing the organ and piano for years...since I have no teacher to do that function). The binge hours and hours of practice to get to the point of playing my first pieces has paid off. Now its the steady day by day 1/2 practice that I am seeing steady improvement.
Just wondering how many months into practicing can this be introduced or attempted? It's really helpful and makes loads of sense but a lot harder than it looks.
Thank you Allison, this video has helped me a lot. Although i do have a question which isn’t really connected to the video. If i play in higher positions on the violin for example sixth, seventh, do i play closer to the bridge or in the middle between the bridge and fingerboard.
I would say get a parent to take you to a violin shop, have them help you out. What you do is try a couple different sizes, maybe even 3 different sizes. Don’t stick with the size they tell you but actually try it out and you will know. Try it out by doing the open string exercises Alison have on her RUclips violin lessons. Even if you don’t buy violins there, you are there to see which violin fits you. I am a 36 years old petite lady and my violin size is 3/4. Typical measurements I were to get a standard 4/4 but I find that big for me because I get sore just holding and bowing the violin. Hope this helps. Take forever at the violin shop if you need to. Go with what you feel is the right size for you. You can even borrow the violin to bring home and tryout before buying, but of course that requires a driver license and payment card as a backup in case you don’t return the violin.

Really well explained, thank you. Going to be trying that as I work through song book 1.
First one! Nice video!

It's really you are the best

Thanks for teaching . Could you let me know string's maker ? it's very smooth.

I seem to be able to do step 2 fairly well but I feel I want to add flair when moving to step 3 so I hit other strings.
How to keep fingers on from D E to e F and others
👍🏻😃
What size should i get for a violin?

The beginner bowing sounds like a sawing and the advanced bowing sounds like a slurring.
