- Alright, you clods! We asked you who your favorite Crystal Gem was and the vast majority of Nerdwire fans voted for the one, the only Peridot. So since y’all love her so much, we’re going to dive into Peridot’s story in the show, as well as some facts about the real life Evening Emerald that could have lead to Rebecca Sugar to draw inspiration for this feisty little character. I feel a bit let down by the Crewniverse. Peridot had so much more chances to shine in the series but after her arc was over she was just pushed to the side!
Hoping with what we saw in the movie that the B-Team Crystal Gems get more time to shine in s6.

As far as the lapis and peridot shipping goes. Not every character needs to be in a romantic relationship. You can have 2 characters who get along great with each other and not have romantic feeling for each other. I have nothing against them being together but a lot of the characters in the show are either in or previously in a relationship.
I ship the characters but I do not see them as a couple. Really they just can tolerate and care for one other. Sort of like a retire couple. It would be interesting to see them as a couple but it is never going to happen. Though I would like to see them fused

In the show it’s stated that peridot was a fast made gem, after era 1 they lost there materials after the “fall” of pink diamond since earth produced good iron, and sheik melting cores. Back then peridots were as tall as nephrites, and were a darker green, so yes peridot does have less iron such as all era 2 peridots we will see.

Peridot is a great representation of an Aromantic and Asexual character. I feel like her attempt to fuse with Garnet is a staple on this.

I like this analysis but I’d say Peridot’s most prominent relationship (besides Steven) is Amethyst. She’s seemed to develop the most around Amethyst and the Shorty Squad episodes are when she (AND Amethyst) gets the most arc development. With Lapis, Peridot’s character seemed to stagnate. The only time Lapis affected Peridot’s character development is when she left!

This is gonna get hated. But I think Peridot is more important of a character to Lapis as a friend than as a love interest. I feel like too many tv shows make it seem like only someone who loves you romantically can help heal you. So I feel like a friendship with the same qualities would be great! Also I think in the next season it'd be great to see one of the game try to engage in a cross species relationship.... So maybe lapis and a human meet and they hit it off and peri totally wingwomans her... It'd be great. But that's just my thought.

I like them as a lowkey relationship. Those kind of couples that act like really close friends and don't need to be super extra to know they love each other.
You guys should do more comparisons with gems from SU to actual birth stones.
I think Peridot and Lapis have the perfect elements for a permanent fusion.
Peridot doesn't watch her words because she's scared of Lapis' rage, she watches her words to not trigger Lapis' traumas.

Not to make it too heavy but peridot of reminds me lot of me when I was younger. I have autism and would insult people and push people away, refuse to make friends and had a hard time empathizing. But after learning the need for friends I became more prosocial. I see alot of myself in peridot. Also she is a cute little nerd and love her character development. Just shows both people and gems can change.

For the Ferrokinesis, it probably isn't magnetic field manipulation, as it can be done without damaging the sensitive eletronics inside Peridot's Tablet which, with a changing magnetic field, could become damaged easily. Or maybe burn out a few capacitors and short a 5V rail to a GND rail.

Peridot is less of a cyber bully, and more of an alien archetype! Not like she wants to blow up the Earth with her fleet of UFOs (she did that with the cluster), she represents people living away from their homelands in foreign environments; she doesn’t understand the Earth or human traditions, but she makes an effort to learn about them!
Peridot learned what snakes, bees, and cars are by getting bitten, stung, and hit by them.
Peridot reminds of a little boy that I used to watch who was on the spectrum. Pearl also holds some behavioral traits of him too.

It has been theorized a lot that peridot (and less so pearl) are autistic. I can certainly say that being likely autistic (can't afford a diagnosis yet) I relate a lot to peridot even though I outwardly act nothing like her.

I 100% think peri and lapis should be a couple but I don't think they should fuse due to their internal stuggles against fusion. I think a separate relationship is what they do best that way it doesn't risk forming a new toxic relationship. Peri is great for lapis because she gives lapis that comfort and intimacy she needs without being too over bearing. And lapis is a good balance for peri. My fav scene with them is in the barn with the Meep Morps and peri is trying to do all of the music at once and patiently lapis goes up to her and helps with just the triangle and tamberine (I think that was lapis' instrument?). It shows the way Lapis is able to help peri when she is in overdrive and do it in a loving way. Lapis at first was really bad for peri but i think they have both had a lot of character development and a lot of it is through each other. They better each other.

Though I doubt that peridot would ever fuse, I think as a reference to when she tried, every fusion should have buckets on them. Likely won’t happen even if we get spin off series, it’s just fun theorize. Have a nice day!😊
Peridot and the shipping board is like people who are really deep into a show, novel, or whatever and they make headcanons or something for who is the most capable ship, who is not, who people should ship with and so on.
In extreme cases it can get really toxic.
I personally think that Peridot and Lapis could go either way. A fusion between the two would be awesome, but it also makes sense for them to not fuse at all. Their relationship has its ups and downs and neither of them are anywhere close to perfect. And no two relationships are the same. Some characters who fuse do so out of love and choose to stay fused (examples being Garnet, Rhodonite, and Fluorite). But some gems might want to express relationships different ways. For example, Steven has many friends whom he had fused with. But he's never chosen to become a permafusion. He's satisfied to keep his relationships platonic (arguably except Connie). There are a lot of other gems like that, and even gems who might have romantic relationships but choose to remain unfused. So whether Lapis and Peridot choose to fuse permanently or temporarily or just not at all is totally fine by me. Although I wouldn't mind hearing how other people feel about that.
Peridot is definitely my favorite. She's super cute and I think Miss Sugar did really well with her character design and personality.
Just imagine how it would have been if Steven & Peridot ever Fused, they could have been a more Male-like Fusion voiced by Richard Horvitz(Invader Zim), and went by a name like Metallic Quartz, and might have also had the personality of a highly skilled therapist who could help people heal emotionally & mentally.
Peridots were created by homeworld in the mid to late Gem Era 2 as gem technology advanced rapidly, they were employed as technicians for advanced gem tech and ships, and kindergarteners.

I highly ship lapidot, honestly all the reasons I have for this can be shown in the scene where all of them are gathered at the table outside the barn. They crack inside jokes, primarily the joke about the corn in the mirror. The rest of the gems were clearly uncomfortable about the discussion but period and Lapis were laughing about it as if it were nothing. There has been much growth between these two that Lapis feels comfortable enough to joke about her experiences to a degree. Had she been alone in the barn, I don't think she would have been able to cope as well as she did having a friend around, a friend who has similar problems; like not being able to go back to homeworld and not understanding how earth's things work. They are building bridges together throughout their time at the barn and I don't think there could be a better pair.
Missed opportunity to say "The great and lovable peridot" at the start

So, I love lapidot and think it should be a real thing.
Because Lapis has been in a lot of trauma it's reasonable that peridot carefully chooses her words around her
They (before Lapis moved to the moon) have a great relationship, Lapis didn't want her loved ones to get hurt so told peridot that they needed to move, the reason that I believe that she wanted to go away from Earth is the "Fight or Flight" instinct, her instinct was to run away from harm, however peridot chooses to fight the problem to eliminate the problem. I think they would be able to even each other out as Lapis 's first instincts are to stay away from danger, Peridot would be able to help her through it and convince her there is another way to fix the problems.
Lapis, also, really cares for Peridot. She seems cold at the start but she eventually warms up to peridot making the relationship healthier, but when Lapis couldn't have her loved ones by her side she moved to the moon to keep watch of them.
But, of course this is only my opinion, no hate to anyone!

I really like peridot's connections to aliens in the show, like in the episode "too short to ride" she uses her newly found power to win a big alien toy, and on her tape recorder there's a little doodle of a smiling ailen :3
I love peridot being a intelligent one when it comes to science HAHAHAHAHAHAHA. If I refer her as a subject it would be science, loves to experiment and build things like she used to. Oh, and she's emotionally unavailable, she's not too affectionate and easily detach. She's sometimes reckless when it comes to others emotions, even in deep down, she still cares about them. She doesn't understand about emotions of others but she tries to understand how they feel. She's like a perfectionist sometimes, very unaware of her words when she didn't know that she literally offended anyone. Even tho she had these toxicity in her, I still love her sometimes. I just they make a another season when peridot fully understands everything she didn't know. )

I always thought Lapis and Peridot’s relationship was meant to be a queerplatonic relationship. Partners but not really sexual or romantic (for those unfamiliar with the term). I know a lot of the ace community sees themselves represented in Peridot.
lapis story is of an abuse survivor becoming an abuser herself. ...its just the show doesn't recongize that fact. poor Peri, she deserves better.

It's really hard to say witth Peridot and Lapis. While Lapis character changes and develops a lot(she goes from indifferent to angry, to abusive, and then slowly just softens up through exposure to Peridot) and the same goes for Peridot. It's so hard to believe now, that that(i hate when it happens in english lol) alien petty engineer became so apt at mental counseling, joking and support. While their initial pairing started as an uke-seme believers wet dream, right now those two just feel comfortable being around each other from what we can see, without a clear dominant: And this is where Lapis frequent runaways come from I think... her heavy past, recent consequences(if she just gave Steven little more trust Homeworld wouldnt come upon them so soon), her trauma of being co-prisoned beneth the ocean while struggling to keep Jasper within their fusion. And that forced fusion made her abusive toward those who try to interact with her, but back to point... everyone seem to think that Lapis simply abused Peridot in her quest of dominance over her, but when shit hit the fan, it was Lapis who threw in a towel, for whatever reasons unable to cross the line with Peridot(I think that she just started to care about her enough to subconciously avoiding total fall-out with lil green heart invader).
I think the gems, specifically Homeworld ofc, are supposed to act the opposite of their gem meanings, it’s only when they go on Earth, talk with Steven and the Crystal Gems that they truly become what their gems represents and means.

I don't think Lapis and Peridot are ready to be in a relationship with any one, let alone each other.
I noticed something with the birthstone thing. I'm a pretty tiny guy and my birthstone is Aquamarine, you know, that tiny gem. However, my nickname when it came to my best friend fluctuated between Peridot and Invader Zim. Apparently I have their personalities.
Honestly I wouldn’t be surprised if lapis and peridot became a couple, but after finishing Steven universe, to me they seem like roommates that are polar opposites, but are forced to live together
