  • I am a gastric bypass post-op patient who also happens to be a primary health care provider. After many years talking to and treating patients on their own weight loss surgery journeys, I decided to have surgery myself. On my channel I discuss my own challenges, successes and updates regarding the process.

    You’re looking fantastic. It must feel so good getting that drain out. My surgeon thinks I will need plastic surgery, but it’s too soon. I have a lot of trouble with yeast infections under my belly rolls and breasts. I’m getting super close to onederland!

    You look amazing. Your smile says it all. I'm 7 months out from RNY. I see the hanging skin. I wonder about the expense...since it's not covered by insurance.

    • @kakisrnyjourney5376
      @kakisrnyjourney5376  6 месяцев назад

      Thank you! I get it- it is very expensive. The best advice I have to reduce cost is get consults with a few different plastic surgeons (consults usually are around $100 but if you decide to go with that surgeon they apply it towards your procedure). In my area, there was a $10,000 variance for the procedures that I wanted. I ended up going with the surgeon that was in the middle range as I felt the best about the consult and his work. The other advice is if you think you want more than one procedure, try to do them at the same time. The surgical center and the anesthesia cost are at least half of the bill, and that way you just pay once for those. My extended tummy tuck and arm lift was around $16,000.

    Thank you for all your honesty in your videos. Its good to hear allllll the things when it comes to surgeries etc. You look fantastic! Question about your reactive hypoglycemia. Do you just control it with your eating and do you have to have a physician order something like the freestyle libre to wear? I am 2 yrs post bypass and I know I have developed RH. If I eat a simple carb without a protein source... my sugar level will end up in the 50-60s. But eating right has really helped that. I have been wondering if I should ask my PCP about a monitor to wear.

    • @kakisrnyjourney5376
      @kakisrnyjourney5376  6 месяцев назад

      I do control the RH with eating. The freestyle really helps me to monitor and know which choices may lead to problems. I have not been able to wear since surgery due to the compression sleeves and I did have one bad episode a couple weeks after surgery. Woke up sweating, fast HR, the whole deal. Ugh! Your PCP can prescribe the libre. Insurance usually will not cover for hypo but it is $70/mo with their cash pay plan. Well worth it even for a couple mos to get in depth info.

      @@kakisrnyjourney5376 thank you! I made a video appt with my pcp for next week. I would like to see what foods I don't do well with. I am tired of pricking my finger lol I have also been eating something every 2-3 hours because I am afraid of the sugar crashes ( as you know they are no fun) and It has led to weight gain. I would like to see if I can go longer between emails than I currently do. 70.00 a month is worth paying. thank you for the information.

      @@michellewilson1221 You are very welcome! Be sure to ask for the Freestyle Libre 3- it is the latest version and smaller than the Libre 2.
