      @@gimble8638 These are by Amina and made in the UK where the company resides. it's amazing how light the panels are yet how incredibly stiff they are too. If you have a bathroom or hallway or anywhere really where you want sound but no speaker fits or want to be seen, this is the thing for you. It'll easily fit behind a cook-top and the best thing is you can wipe them down no issue and you never have to see them if you don't want to :p

      yeah, a friend of mine was doing up his bathroom a few year back and asked me my recommendation for ceiling speakers, i told him 2 exciters back of the ceiling pasterboard (daytons) would do it, he thought i was speaking crap because they are so small, but they blew him away lol :) of course tho you are back to needing an amplifier, where obviously if your a B&O guy you dont want that extra hassle and wiring, fine in the living room obv as you can house the amp somewhere, but not so much in hallway etc and said mate had bose wired thru his house so it was more a question of which drivers to use as speaker cables were ran there already

      not aminas concept per say but yeah, as for B&O they are always aware of what.s goiing on (and mostly as we all know are ahead of the game) there will be a reason why they havn't, or havn't yet, im guessing and it is only a guess and purely my own speculation, is that there isn't much to exciters to expand on, even existing ones hardly differ in sound tbh regardless of the cost, those amina's are obv premium and the amp along with them makes it a far neater/easier to use/install product but as for sound i can guarantee you cheap £20 each daytons thru a conventional amp will be close if not indistinguishable and there lies the real problem for B&O because it will be very difficult to improve "vastly" to justify being in the range (for the money they'd require), there is nothing to see so there goes the B&O design and build quality tax out the window too, also B&O like as far as possible to avoid any variable like the plague with their own product (even the spacing of dwangs (battons/studs) in a wall can cause slight differences in sound) , but that's just me, there will be some reason i.'m sure good reason and who knows they might in the future if they find a way to tweak it to really diferentiate and stand out somehow :)

    up until now I still wonder why speaker manufacturers don't take advantage of Walls? Concrete walls are very sturdy and inert you can literally make them as the speaker cabinet of the speaker drivers...gives them another function.

      the screen is on before the speaker full set, the whole motion only take ~20 seconds but the screen is on after 5 or so. If it's something important to see you can always record it internally and/or rewind it.

    Ahem.. alsyvox.com Why is B&O still using dynamic drivers in their deigns?

    • @Mikipedia
      @Mikipedia  4 года назад +2

      several reasons really, I don't work for them but I can think of a fair few limiting factors. With planar magnetic drives they tend to produce the exact same sound forwards as backwards so unless you put them in the middle of the room and sit around your speakers, that will cause an issue with room resonance. When you look at other brands using this tech, they advise you to put these around 1.5 meter/5 feet away from any walls(and the ususally have a bunch of sound deadning behind it). Non of this is an issue with how B&O does it. Also with planar magnetic driver there can be an issue with longevity, they're much more sensitive to environmental conditions, by that I mean just imagine what would happen if you put them in a sigarroom(B&O tests for this) with B&O the speakers would just stink but sound would be unaffected. With planar magnetic the film in between would get tar and nicotine stain etc, which effectively makes the film heavier and stickier which will impact sound tremendously over time. And how to you clean that in between the metal ''cages''? it's a specialised job, with B&O you just takes a cloth to it and you're good to go. There are advantages to either way of doing things, and the reasons I mentioned are just a few of why not, I think B&O does a great job with what they use :)

    • @AlioConsult
      @AlioConsult 4 года назад +2

      @@Mikipedia I understand B&O QA testing and their infamous 'smokers test'. I own a pair of Martin Logan ESL 9 (my complete system has a retail price similar to a pair of beolab 50) I've also owned B&O products in the past. Yes owning any type of planar speaker whether ribbon or charged stator requires cleaning maintenance but their target customer base mostly have rather clean homes. What I'm trying to get at is there is lots of tech available that can be blended with B&O innovation to produce a class leading product. I think their R&D team is stuck in ways of old thinking.

    • @Mikipedia
      @Mikipedia  4 года назад +2

      @@AlioConsult Iam not so sure as I think the beolab 50's are leading in their class as are the beolab 90's. The beolab 50's are better imo than the B&W counterpart and also the martin logan set i tested against them at a similar total price and with the martin logan ones I ran in to the positioning issue obviously. A lot of people I know with B&O are either smokers or sigaar smokers, I'd say it's about 45-55 split. that specific tech has been around for a while, atleast the 70's iirc. So they probably looked at it and found different ways to complete the mission they were after, which includes longevity. Only two of the people I know are ever really comfortable with cleaning their speaker membranes, the rest would just refuse so a ''cleaning schedule'' would be out of the question or they would have to have people come over to do it.
      The beolab 50 and 90 are very trick speaker and can make your room disappear , regardless of positioning and same goes for stereo imaging. I can sit anywhere and create a preset where stereo would be perfect for just that spot and it wouldn't even matter if its 3-4 meters outside of the classic sweetspot.
      With B&O the speaker/sound design team never lost it, i wouldn't necessarily disagree if you had said something about the external design/looks :p bl 50's and 90's look good to me, but other designs haven't been super strong like they used to to me ie the edge. But soundwise, they are amazing both in sound and capabilities to shift sound etc. It's not exactly like the use cheap parts either. if you can, listen to some beolab 50's or 90's!!! bucket list speakers :D

      it's so much more than that, you can connect over 20 speakers to it at the same time and drive them all and set roles for them and there literally isn't a tv this size that can move out of the way. and that's just the tip of the iceberg in terms of what else it all does.

      @@Noah-Lach if you're in the USA you get screwed anyway with a 30% import tax on B&O gear, because the gouvernment has ''reasons'' Also the price is based on the initial launch price of said panels. So if the LG advisory price drops B&O will follow suit they said, or you can still pick an even cheaper C9 panel. Prices are mostly negotiable at B&O anyway or what others do is buy it in the UK/Europe and ship it to the USA themselves.
