I worked for John Lewis in the tv department in 1999 where they had a 42” (Phillips?) plasma including stand for £7,500: The stand on its own was £750. It didn’t even meet the 576i UK pal standard let alone be HD but was 480p iirc. I don’t ever remember anyone buying one but it was impressive nonetheless with Toy Story on dvd. I had a 14” 4:3 crt at the time but later upgraded to a 21”. 😆 It wasn’t until 2008 when I finally bought a 1080p Pioneer LX5090 plasma. Cost £2,250 with stand, under mounted speaker & 5yr warranty. Had waited patiently for 1080p spec with 24fps and the price to fall from £5,000. Was one of the best purchases I ever made with no regrets and it still gets used to this day more than 12yrs later. Apart from the plasma hum you can hear no and again and that it runs bloody hot I’ve had no issues, no screen burn etc. Everyone thought I was a bit mad getting such a large tv, (50”), and yet today this size as almost become the norm. Mum thought it was a bit ‘chavvy’ after she read an article in the newspaper!?

That's typical Samsung if you buy their higher-end products with the latest tech. They rush out new features without any quality control. I personally will never buy Samsung again after having issues with their TVs and appliances.
I’ve seen the 88” for £20k so there’s a £10k drop. I have an 65” LG C8 OLED. I think my next upgrade would be to a 77”. Once they drop below £2,000. Currently £3,300. No rush as the 65” is plenty big enough.
Thanks for this video, Caleb. The technology that goes into these TV's is what we should be talking about. Congratulations to all the teams that designed and produced these, can one say, works of art.
The Samsung 8k TV has the mechanics to show you 8k but with 10/100 NIC and only 2 GB of RAM you are in for constant buffering and really bad resolution every 3 minutes on average. There are brief moments where you have 4K but most of the time is spent trying to process the immense data that 8K requires.
I just bought a 50" onn smart tv for $223, and I'm still stunned by how big it is, how great the picture is, and how many streaming apps there are. I'd have gone 58" or 65" but the wall space in my living room doesn't allow for a bigger tv without popping over the border, so 50" inch is plenty. Years ago I bought a 46" and paid extra to have Netflix built in, it was about $650, so you can get so much more tv for the money today it's not even funny. Getting ready to add a surround sound unit with a sub woofer and five satellite speakers for about $42 which has solid reviews. So for $245 I'm the King of my castle, Lord of the manor, Master of all I see before me, it may not be elite, but it's not bad for the money.
Company I work for starts an install of The Wall for a customer tomorrow. I haven't checked our pricing yet, but I know the whole system is well over 100 parts. Edit: $862,000
@@patrickm1092 well considering it's not really a micro LED but just a mini LED TV because it's so big 🤷🏼♂️ the PQ will not be as good as the 88oled ......yet
The C-Seed TV is impressive. Not only the size, the technology behind it makes you smile even more. How the television extends and unfolds from the floor is not seen every day. There probably won´t be that many people who have already had experience with retractable and foldable TVs. I would definitely buy the TV :)
Not mentioned - Sony & Samsung’s 98” LED TVs that are over $50k. Also, if you still want to spend $10k on a 65”, just look at “Full Sun” capable outdoor TV’s from Sunbrite.

The feeling you get when watching this on your minimally calibrated OLED and can notice his core area of his shirt is just slightly gold in color compared to his sleeves. Lol.
If there just was some kind of tool that could project images of varying sizes onto a wall without having to piece together LCD screens. For as little as 30k $
Hi Caleb,I want to buy a new 80+inch LED TV in a few months, but I'm clueless. I am thinking of these: Samsung 4K Q80T,Q90T 8K Q800T and Sony X900h obsession X950h. I'm not a gamer, but it is important to support new gaming features for the future I prefer to watch a movie and my Pc would also be connected to it,and the reflection and viewing angles is important for me. A lot will depend on the price, but I want to hear your opinion too. Thanks for the help, greetings from Hungary,Europe

The Sony and the LG 30k oled 🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩

worth about fiddy bucks now
How big a tv did ten grand buy back in the day? I just commented that I recently bought a 50" 4k smart tv for $223.

Seriously, 900 is the most I’ve ever spent
Awesome!
Keep up the good work Caleb! 😉👍
If microLED is that expensive right now, how many years will it conceivably take to go mainstream? Even OLED isn’t technically mainstream yet.
the problem isn't the price, it's that the tech isn't ripe yet. really low pixel densities mean a 4k screen is 120 inches minimum
Wow, some insane stuff there! I'll just stick with my LG 70 inch I'm using as a monitor. I love this thing :)

Great review as always Caleb. It is always reassuring to know when a TV is worth more than my house.
Id be happy taking 4 77” LG TVs to make a pseudo 154” tv with the added benefit that it would also be 8k. Don’t have the space for anything bigger.
Don’t let these extravagant luxury items distract you from the fact that $1000-$2000 is still too expensive for a goddamn tv.

My 292 inch is amazing, I highly recommend this TV
The Wall reminds of Barney Stinsons TV from How I met your Mother.
Think I am going to get a film projector as it has the best resolution and can make size big, not expensive to rent a film.
